Wrong. The music is actually better than the sound. Any recording engineer will tell you that the guitar sound is almost completely out of phase. That's why it sounds kinda thin and tinny. However, the music on their "Terror Squad" release can't be matched. It's beyond doubt one of the top 3 best Thrash metal recordings in history.
Artillery is by far one of the best thrash bands in the world. This is the band that got me into metal 3 years ago. To this day, they are still one of my all-time favorites. Amazing, enough said.
Yep.. and I believe even bands such as Exodus were influenced by Artillery because you can hear it. "Terror Squad" was also released before Exodus started to sound like them. I would even go as far as saying that Gary Holt was ripping off some the of the Artillery riffs.
@@thula2 - I totally get what you're saying. I think it sounds great as well and I still rate the "Terror Squad" release in the Top 3 Thrash metal recordings ever. However, by today's standards, it probably sounds harsh or thin to younger crowds.. and That's actually the problem with younger listeners, as well as musicians. Truth is, they need to understand the finer aspects and finesse that older groups like Artillery put into their playing. This modern generation simply doesn't get it. Everything sounds cookie-cutter and far too synchronized or machine like. That's why I think they're hosing up all metal, especially with that Djent and technical arpeggio garbage, when they need to focus more on the rhymical aspects, such as how Artillery did it. As a side note, personally, I think even bands like Exodus were influenced by Artillery because they started to sound a like them after 1986. Exodus only had one recording at that time and it was different than the rest. If you listen closely, you'll clearly hear an influence, which I'm sure Gary Holt will never admit because he seem to have a bit of an ego. A sure give away is, I've never heard Gary mention Artillery either, but you know he damn well knew about them.
i can clearly remember the very first consert i ever adented to. it was a ARTILLERY & DESTRUCTION a Concert in Copenhagen at age 13 i and it blow me away . the energy that the crowed had . i remember that a compleat stranger saying " hey kid wanna sit on my shoulders and se the show " you cant se mutch from down there can you? and from a strangers shoulders i watch the show and from that moment on i knew that trashers are social beings even thoug the seem like it and i felt safeA
I just listened to this band a couple weeks ago but I checked out this video yesterday. I have to say why haven't I found out about this band earlier? I love it.
Very cool! Thanks for this upload (15 years ago) xD I saw Artillery in Copenhagen when they played with Destruction sometime in the mid 80s. I remember the lead singer started off speaking in English to the crowd but people where yelling "tal dansk, tal dansk!" - and so he did. LOL
"500 thrash and death metal Riffs" ALL uploaded now. 41 parts. 6 1/2 hours of Riffs! Keeping Thrash Metal Alive.....Lots of Artillery Riffs. Check out parts 1,7,13,20,21,22,25,27,30,31,36,38,39 The RIFF Masters!
Great video!!! Great Band!!! Great Song!!! I love the albumes "terror squad" (i was born in the year that they released it xD) and "by inheritance". Artillery is definitely one of my favorite thrash bands. thanks for upload the video ;)
1986...hahahahaha.damn where did you found this tape ;-) thx for posting Michael...saw you this year at the witchhunter-tribute in germany and you still got balls...hope i don't have to wait again about 10 years for a follow up ;-)
BAreclusiarch : Flemming was not a drunk, and never was. He didnt even smoke any stuff, and he still dont. He is now a happy Trobadur playing nice songs on his acoustic, in small bars around Denmark .... But if you want more of Flemming, try look up the Danish Beatle cover Rubber Band ...he was a singer there too, way better than Poul and John hehe
I'm right here :) and no, no bands these days, check my page, more explanation there ;) But thx you guys, this old geezer really appreciate your kind words :)
I made that video ! Well not really. I was the host of the show, and I invited the band, since we are friends. My producer/editor Rasmus Skovgaard made that video, I was just helping out on the set, and holding the camera in the foot stomping clip he he. . I think it's Metalfabrikken's first self produced video ...Turned out really great ! Anyway, check out my channel for more Danish shit !
it's not the band's fault, flemming was pulling artillery backwards, had no interest on keep singing with 'em and I can't remember if he was having problems with alcohol... So yeah, flemming was amazing, but artillery can't stop existing because of him going out. And the new albums, although being sang by a lesser vocalist, are pretty awesome!
Love it ... Artillery.. Scandinavia s finest Metal Thrash best bands... Long live Denmark \m/
Such an absolutely devastingtly heavy, crunchy guitar tone. And Flemming Ronsdorf's soaring vocals.. Incredible! A classic.

I can't even express how much i would love to see more live videos with Flemming, especially of By Inheritance.
Flemming Rønsdorf !! Comeback please !!

shit dude's,
the riff is fucking brutal man.
That guitar sound has been haunting me for 20 years. awesome.
It's not the guitar sound, it's the music. The guitar sound is actually rather thin and tinny.
@@ShadovvV Call it what you want, but that guitar sound Artillery had overshadowed everything else for me as a teenager. Love it.

Concordo. Na minha opinião deveria estar no Big 4 com o Sepultura (anos 90) e o Testament.
O cara ainda quebra um vocal gutural da porraaaaa.
Its weird/cool how he holds tge guitar pick
Thanks... I guess ;)
FUCKING HELL
whats the name of the album again?
Jørgen Sandau and Morten Stützer have the same outfits in this video. Can it be an "Artillery image" or just a coincidence?
@ 3:47 March of the hightops!!!! lol
3:32 xDDD

Alcohol ? I've heard many rumours about me over the years, stealing money and whatnot, but just FYI none of these stories are true ! None of them...
