I couldn’t love your videos anymore. How you manage to stage, shoot and edit with consistency while drinking your weight in liquor is beyond me. Your work should genuinely be featured on Bon appetite or Eater channels - much love from a fellow Canadian!
Because of this video we ended up going to Bar Shiki and Bible Club - great bars, thanks for the recommendations! And what a city Osaka is, our favourite nights ended up just being drinking at two local Izakayas near where we stayed, which I think is always going to be the case, but the cocktail bars were a truly sublime expereince.
I rarely comment but your channel deserves the interaction. Well done mate, nicely presented and such a relief to search these up and not get tourist-trap vibes
This is such a great video (content and editing), thank you! I love hitting up cocktail bars in Asia and have an Osaka trip coming up. Came here to see Bar Shiki and Bar Nayuta, but leaving with a lot of hard choices to make with the short time I'm there now. I'm traveling with someone who does not drink alcohol and wondering how you've seen non-alcoholic drinks handled in cocktail bars like these. I know Bar Shiki can offer something N/A and in my experience, most great cocktail bars will be able to offer something just as great in this area too, but Japan is mostly new to me here.
I love all your videos. Going to need a separate budget just for cocktails before I get back to Japan. These Osaka options are so interesting, almost more so than some of the Tokyo ones. Am drooling over that coffee bar.
Excited for this! The first video I watched from you was exploring noodles and bars in Korea. My husband and I are both going to Korea and Japan, your videos are so helpful. We're excited to see some of the bars you featured. Everything you put out is so well thought out and so much detail.. We know exactly what we want to order, from your videos. We related to your Korea video so much are also some big gamers and one of the reason for our love for Korea as well:). We can't wait to try these bars!
Love your videos! My husband and I enjoy hearing about all the cool places to try when we are next in Japan. Any chance you’ll be heading south like to Kyushu? Specifically Fukuoka or Kumamoto? Heard there maybe some interesting bars that way.
These videos are amazing. Its informative and has a slick presentation. Your choice of bgm is perfect, your voice is a clam and friendly narration, and the footage presented shows the area, the bar, and the bartenders. "Absolute cinema" Thanks for all your hard work!
Nice one Jake. I absolutely agree - Osaka and neighbouring Nara and Kyoto make for a perfect destination for a cocktail hike. Some great bars in Kansai.
I hella wish I had this video when I went to osaka a couple months ago but I'm happy I was able to visit some of the ones on this list. Your videos are amazing and I literally use them where ever I go. Just came back from Barcelona and hit up every bar in your video.
You started at the best bar in Japan in my opinion. Nakaichi is a genius. He also helped me through some hard times after some heartbreak. Bibleclub is actually frequented by a lot of tokyoite natives especially those in the industry. I proposed to my gf here during COVID. Nayuta is THE Osaka cocktail bar. Very close friends. Very special bar for me. Tom and Jerry is by far my favorite classic bar in Japan. Upstairs is run by my best friend so I won't make any comments. Except he's ugly. You ran into all of my friends and I'm so happy you got to experience it. :)
I think one of your comments on an old video mentioned Upstairs and that comment came on my very last day in Osaka so I had to rush to check it out before I left :D
Damn I remember going to Bar Nayuta back in 2018. It was completely empty and I still remember being so confused trying to find the place and the bartender sticking his head out that door hole. It was before I visited a lot of cocktail bars so it was really my first more craft cocktail experience. The ambiance of that place really stuck around in my head but I haven't been able to go back to Osaka in a long time. I sure hope my next trip I can squeeze it in. Also great videos Jake. Your NYC video really helped me last month, though I was only able to go to doublechicken please from your layover list. I did check out Sip (since I only went to guzzle on my last tokyo trip) and Attaboy. Would love to hear your thoughts on Attaboy
oh no!!! you missed my favorite bar. Bar Greenspot! Greenspot is perhaps the most unique bar ive been to in all of japan. it's run by this couple and the entire concept of the bar is that they infuse each and every liquor they own so that it carries a unique twist. for example, their scotch whiskys are infused with shitake mushrooms so when they make you a rusty nail, it has a strong mushroom flavor. the decor of the bar is also super interesting. when you walk in, it feels like you walked into the belly of the great deku tree in kokiri forest. it's a really cool spot. would highly recommend people to check it out!
Wanna start of with saying great video production and narratives and if you want a cocktail this is the video to watch, but, you could have fooled me, as it does look like you went to the same bar 12 times, really wish there was a little more diversty than this. Specially considering there are so many crazy concept in japan when it comes to bar/drinking culture.
Your channel is gold mate!! Keep up the amazing content

Great video - helped me plan for Osaka :)

can I just say, I adore the splash of color across the Hollow Sign, just before it cuts? amazing.
Amazing content. Thanks
Such a well made video and so many great places!! Are you heading to Bali this year?
Beautifully crafted video.

Not in this set of videos but I hope I can get back to Japan so I can explore the south, so many things to see!

Love these videos so much. So impressed!
I genuinely don’t know how this doesn’t have 100,000 views
It's only been out half a day, give it some time, we'll get there :)

You are a legend mate, I'm visiting Osaka soon so this will be super useful!
I'm going crazy next time I'm in Osaka. Thanks! Also, dope music.
Any plans for a Kyoto video? I will certainly be visiting some of the bars from your Tokyo videos when I go in the fall
2 more videos in the queue before Kyoto... it's going to be a long one so it may take me some time :)

Yoooo love the video !!!
The volume of work you're doing here is honestly insane. Well done.
Beautiful video jake, very insightful. I wonder how much a glass cost on average in Nayuta or Shiki nowadays?
Can you please explain what are we seeing at 0:58? What's for sale?
The bar Subterra Osaka is a nice place to go too! They serve great cocktails and have Djs playing most nights
Amazing video
Ahhhh just in time for the evening indulgence. Thanks Jake!
I'd love a Kobe, Japan video if you get the opportunity.

Ahhh... most of my recommendations come from asking other bartenders what their favourite spots are and that one never came up 😭 Next time!
It's only been a month since I was in Japan last, but thanks for helping me figure out my next trips itinerary 😉
do most of these bars, tourist/foreigner friendly?
Are any of these English friendly?

Bar nayuta has some pretty nasty reviews 😅😅😅
