When you say "the best bars in Kyoto", I think what you mean to say is "the best social media, influencer friendly, Instagrammable, massive queues, overpriced, full of foreign tourists, wouldn't be touched with a barge pole by Kyoto locals bars in Kyoto".
The final video of season 2! Took me long enough, whoops. That's everything I filmed in 2023, and the timing is fantastic cause I'm just about to hit the road again to start filming season 3!!!! If all goes according to plan (rare), I should have 12 more videos that I start filming NEXT WEEK. Make sure you subscribe to see those videos, because there is going to be some bangers.
Your Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo series have been some of the most helpful tools in planning our 2 week honeymoon out to Japan in October! Thanks for your work on this series, I can't wait to visit many of these bars.
Bar Ixey was possibly the most amazing bar experience I've ever had. No music, small space and man who knows what the hell he's doing. We learned he was an English Literature major in college, too, so he was incredibly well spoken with English. Must go for anyone visiting. Had a better time here than Bee's Knees even though it's way less hyped.
I live in Kobe and often visit bars in the Kansai region, and every bar you’ve covered, Jake, happens to be among my favorites-they’re all incredible establishments. Your ability to gather such insightful information and the stunning quality of your visuals always impress me. If you have the chance, I highly recommend visiting this bar as well: ・Cocktail Stand Bar Furek ・Grace Note ・watoto kyoto ・Bar Syushi
Jake you are literally the most underrated channel I have ever come across! Your narratives are fucking hilarious, Thank you for all the suggestions i will be visiting a lot of the spots you hit up!
Man these lists are absolutely perfect. I have been through all your uploads and made google maps lists of all of them and I can't wait to get drinking in Japan again. Thank you!
Fantastic video! Just went to Bees Knees last night and alchemist the night before because of this and both were great! The presentation at bees knees was absolutely next level.
Loved the video! You should definitely check out the bars in Kobe (Hyogo-ken) too, there are so many amazing spots. Personally, I think Mr.Kinoshita at Savoy Eastgate has some of the best cocktail skills in Japan.
Have nothing but great things to say about Christophe at L'esca Moteur and Ken and Alex from Cavalier. Amazing bars. I think your content is the best for bar reviews.
The visuals and audio for this episode are on point! I was gonna ask if you went to Bar KOHAKU but I want to go mostly for the view over the mixology haha. I've also added many of bars to my list when I visit and I noticed many are located so close to one another which could get dangerous
I love this channel!! I’m so glad it was suggested in my feed. I’m trying not to binge watch every single video though. Great content. Great presentation. Great cinematography. Subscribe people!
Had the same Nokishita experience in January this year, truly eye opening experience! Highly recommend a Fukuoka/Kyushu video, major shout out to Citadel and Bar Lafitte 🔥
Visiting Kyoto in three weeks-perfect timing! I loved your videos, and thanks for including the prices. Do you happen to have an overview of the costs of the Tokyo Cocktails as well?
Any chance season 3 will see you getting to Fukuoka? Been having trouble finding quality sources on what's good there. Thanks for the fantastic videos!
Mr. Miata and his stupid ass smile haha. You missed Daichi when you went to Kaktel. Fun fact, Scotch and Branch opened during COVID and I visited them once a week while the lockdowns were happening. They were running a true speakeasy when bars needed to be shut down. You missed El Tesoro and Mousse 😢.
Cavalier and lescamoteur are owned by french guys. One of the main actors Vianney ended going back to France :'( If you want another hafu/gaijin owned recommendation, bar Furansu in Kanazawa. Bars local dont go to are rowdy tourist centered bars with unassimilated people causing problems. They don't want to be lumped in with those kinds of tourists. Bars run by gaijin that "get it" are not a problem for locals and local gaijin. I love all those bars and have met very nice travelers I still talk to today. A lot of great gaijin owned businesses were lost during COVID. Pour one out for the homies.

Literally the most underrated TH-camr on the platform

I’m off to Kyoto in three weeks. Looking forward to watching this. Pops Pizza is the only one currently on my list
Aside from the awesome content, your music selection routinely slaps.
This channel is criminally underrated.

Going to be in Kyoto today and just made a reservation at Nokishita at 5pm, serendipitous timing… thank you Jake!

You are living the dream my friend, great work as always!

Around the same, 1.7-2k average. Some lower some higher
Any chance season 3 will see you getting to Fukuoka? Been having trouble finding quality sources on what's good there. Thanks for the fantastic videos!
No more Japan videos planned, hopefully I can go back next year!
Thx for video i really love it❤
Season 2 was brilliant! You probably need a break but I am ready for season 3 asap 😂
Quite the opposite, I filmed everything in 2023 and am itching to get back on the road :)
Thanks for sharing.
just came back from Japan and totally regret that I went to zero bars while was Kyoto, gotta take notes now!
Thanks for sharing. Hokkaido soon we hope!
I filmed a Hokkaido video on my first Japan trip in 2022 but I wasn't happy with it so I scrapped it during editing 😓
@@valianes As an aside, pre-pandemic we had a great experience at The Common One Bar in the older part of Kyoto. So many bars indeed.
Mr. Miata and his stupid ass smile haha. You missed Daichi when you went to Kaktel.
Fun fact, Scotch and Branch opened during COVID and I visited them once a week while the lockdowns were happening. They were running a true speakeasy when bars needed to be shut down.

so when are you starting group tours? My wife and I are in 🎉

Great! But would've liked links to the bars' locations.
Added!
@@valianes Arigato!
With Rocking Chair being in the list, I'm sorta surprised that you K6 isnt in the list. The owners of Rocking Chair are graduates of K6
He's gonna play.....and by God he's gonna win.
Remember you can smoke cigars really occasionally because they are not like cigarettes that get addictive 😂
Don't give me any bright ideas....
@@valianes just saying, a cigar and a whisky is a great pairing :)
My map thanks you
