- WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T tells the story of Vince McMahon offering to hire Booker T's wife, Sharmell, in 2005 in order to stop him from retiring from being a full time wrestler #wwe #wrestling #vincemcmahon
Bro could you imagine if Boooker quit before King Bookah!?
Not gonna lie when I was a kid watching them I hated the gimmick, but looking back now they were hilarious 😂 definitely a good call to stay
Naw He Still Was The Sh with his Big Brother they was Like Dat💯😂🔥🤣HULK HOGAN WE COMIN FOR U N!&&@💀💀💀🤣🤣
King Bookah was trash, I hated that gimmick.
@@boogidwnej179 Naw but that’s just like how ppl Hated Triple H before he Blew up its the Same But the Bad Guys Were good Guys💯
Ngl that would suck bro tbh
He’s one of the very few to make winning King of the Ring mean something. Totally developed a new persona around it
Agreed! I missed the days when the winners would work it into their character. Macho King, King Mabel, Owen the King of Harts. King Bookah brought it back
So did Harley Race, Duggan, Haku, Randy Savage, & even fucking Triple H (twice, in fact) all BEFORE him.
I know you said, “One of the few”, but he was the last in a long line. I love Booker. Triple H is my all-time favorite, & I thought Booker should’ve won at Mania that year (I was already graduating college, when that happened. Lol!). I’m just saying. It’s really not all that grand, & while my wife & I still do it & laugh about it from time-to-time (only in remembering Booker himself. We weren’t together back then, or anything), but…I just don’t put it that high up there. I know WWE treats it like it’s some godsend storyline, in their revisionist history.
Which…surprisingly works in so many damn people. But, it just wasn’t “all that” like he says. He WANTS *YOU* to believe that, though. Helps him live the life he loves
The King of the Ring never really meant anything special. Some of the "King" personas the winners used were cringey. King Bookah was great though. He was even King Bookah in video games and he was a menace. WWE should do something cool with Kings/Queens of the Ring like the winners get to create matches at Survivor Series or something. Just like the WWE/World Champs and the Women's champs should have a special characteristic instead of just being wrestler + a belt.
@@Vikasharindeed indeed
That pinky out thing was amazing too. I remember being a kid and raising my hand up with my pinky out to celebrate.
Kudos to Vince for considering Booker’s feelings and still boosting a man’s career this time.
Say what you will about Vince but one thing rings true, he would do whatever he had to do to make sure the business stayed afloat
@@1chakastill doesn't excuse him though
@@1chaka I’m sure Owen hart would like to talk about that’s not always a good thing
Bro seen the talent he was losing. Also I'm sure this was a counter measure against booker going anywhere else. Alot of wrestler were paid per there contract, even if they wasn't wrestling or just did want to. Just so they could leave.
Booker is a legend. He earned every bit of praise coming in from WCW and working hard and staying with it.
Bro lived the dream. Had his wifey in his corner as he performed and was an icon
For him to credit his wife for a major part of his run as well, is a WHOLE other level of loyalty.
She is a gem ❤️ -still HAPPYLY married despite if you think the bs and ridicules disrespect plots Vince invented like Kurt Angle having “an affair” with her and make Booker lose like a weak simp at the end etc 😂-
@@aleger620😂😂😂 I couldn’t understand what was going on in the comment section! Ty
I was right along those words, you could hear it in his voice tone. He luvv dhat girl. I hope find one like dhat too. It's a nice thing to see.
His first act as king was to crown her as queen. It was so sweet.
This is called love. Real love 💯😊
I got to meet Booker one time. My mom had passed away but she LOVED Sharmell. She described her as a truly classy lady. When I told him how much they meant to her he just grabbed my hand and said a prayer for my mother. Booker will ALWAYS be a favorite of mine. ALL HAIL KING BOOKER!!!
Booker's a Christian? That's incredible. Truly the GOAT.
Wow! That's unbelievable in a good way! You win the comment section. 🙏🏾😇
That's so beautiful
Heartfelt condolences 🙏🏾 concerning your mother who's resting 🙏🏾 with the Lord
❤❤❤🙏🏾🙏🏾
Omg bro!! That’s cool! Condolences too you and your family! 🙏
Kurt Angle was also a big fan of her participation
Gonna make that beastly swirl
Don't hide your wives from Edge. Hide them from Angle. Booker T & Jeff Jarret know.
💀
That beastial segs.
Your just as sick as Perk Angle with the thousand yard stare
Sharmell and Booker are such genuine people. They were at an indie show in my town when I was 7 or 8. My sister and I talked to Sharmell for basically the entirety of Booker's match and she was beyond kind
Criminally underrated
One of the best duos ever and King Booker will always be 1 of 1
Booker T has never been underrated.
Like Booker said, it didn’t overshadow his career, I personally think the run with Sharmell though, is what solidified him as a legend
Maybe I'm wrong for thinking this, but I felt he was a legend already by 1996. I loved Harlem Heat. Their feud with the Steiner Brothers was awesome!
@@muscledoggs566 Possibly, but I definitely think the King Booker run is what completely solidified his status
Plus that was his only major world title in WWE
@jamilbeazer3393 Booker definitely should have had more then 1 title run with WWE. Shame that they shitted the bed, when they had Triple H bury Booker at Mania 19.
@@themastermind5638that was all Triple's fault. Multiple people have explained how Booker was supposed to win that match that night, but Triple made the call (if I remember correctly) the night before to change plans
Booker T has given so much to the industry, I remember him from the Harlem Heat days watching WCW as a kid
Same!
@@GVVedditto
HOGAN! WE COMIN FO’ YOU
Harlem Heat was just as good as WWF/WWE Booker.
Cain and Cole the Harlem Heat
Booker T is easily in my TOP 10 wrestlers of all time. Esp his ability in ring.
He was fantastic in the ring but prime Booker T I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more athletic wrestler in my life speed, jumping ability, footwork, power he had all of it and mind you he was a solid 6'4 doing all this he was incredible the most exciting wrestler to watch during the late 90's in ring wise
He’s was so big to be as athletic as he was
He was one of those freak big men with insane agility along with Taker and Kane
Well said, even as a person, his energy is infectious!
Booker T entrance theme is Top 1 of all time
Vince wasnt all bad. He's just human and this prooves it. This was some of the best wwe days for me
King Booker story line was so fun and Sharmell is a HOFmer that's insane never know how life ends up
that's how you know your boss values you. going from the Rock saying "Who the hell are you?" to King Booker. A true legend.
Rock said that kind of thing to everyone. He wasn't being buried, in his first PPV he faced Rock who was the biggest star at the time, Vince valued him from the beginning
@@JK-hu4lu Yeah it's so funny how sensitive the WCW marks are. Chris Jericho called the Undertaker boring FFS. Rock gave Jericho the same "Who are you?" spiel when Jericho debuted. They talked a lot of smack back then.
@@madhatter8508 it's crazy isn't it. Trying to act like debuting in the main event scene against arguably the biggest superstar of all time, was a bad thing 😂
Let's not forget they had Booker take out Austin on his debut. He had the star treatment from day 1
Who in the BLUE HELL ARE YOU! Say it right. lol
“King Bookahh” run was legendary
That King Booker run was just brilliant
Definitely was
Facts, use to hate that nigga but ended up loving him 😂
I liked the "can you dig it sucka" era. Spinaroonie just hit different back then.
Yeah he would be like r truth
I definitely agree 1000% I still to this day go back and watch the whole run like I’m binge watching a tv series
King Booker and that huge smile he has 👍🏼. Thanks for the entertainment, King. 👑
KING BOOKAH!! has been a part of my lexicon ever since. I couldn't imagine life without it 😢
Booker and his queen truly elevated his character a lot more in that time and era especially him having this cocky attitude and 24/7 royalty in the Ruthless Aggression Era this push Batista and John Cena in 06-07
A Historic decision!! All hail King Booker 👑
That’s KING BOOKAAAHH
Also all Hail Kurt Angle and his role in the storyline 💀
She used to be a nitro girl
Vince is a legend for this one. WWE wouldn’t be the same without booker T.
Now can you dig that Sucka
You forgot about Vince fetish and twisted fantasies 🙄…
R@p3 Fetish and Bald people as villain protagonist of the Booker storyline.. that guy, Kurt Angle, believe it or not, has also won the feud and totally humiliated Booker and his marriage 😂😂😂 ( well at least I guess and bet it was what Vince tried as the sorry Mf he is 🤡🤡🤡)
Yeeeaauugghhh ❤❤❤
As much bad shit as ppl can say about Vince, Wwe wouldn’t of been shit without Vincent Kennedy McMahon that’s a fact 😂
Yes I can😂😂😂
Vince did horrible awful things to the people, especially women that worked for him, he abused them in many ways. I don’t care if he did a lot for WWE, the shit he’s done out weighs that now. He is in no way a legend. Do not insult REAL legends by calling him that.
Damn! King Booker story really annoyed us to the core, Shermile really knew her way around the Mic when she helped him as king n queen. It sho boosted his carrer run. Thank you King Booker.
King Booker was great and my favorite incarnation of him.
Sharmell becoming a part of Booker’s world was awesome, I loved that she was always hyping him up and then the King Bookah run happened and you could tell they were having a ton of fun with that. I’m so glad I got to watch that from near the beginning!
Fun fact: The only wrestler to make Vince break character on live TV was Booker during the segment when he rang Vince to tell him he's going to play bingo lmao.
Jerry Lawyer said once that if you ever make Vince laugh especially on TV, you're always gonna be in his good books. That's why Booker was always featured so prominently during the early 2000s Ruthless Aggression era.
Easily the best thing to ever come out of that horrible invasion angle was WWE acquiring Booker.
He's really the only one to come over from WCW to really make it in WWE and become a bigger star than he was in WCW.
Vince deserves the worst, he has done horrible things to people that work for him.
Him & Y2J.
@@BirchFlunchboo hoo need some tampons for the bleediing?
And the big show!!
Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio…
Fun fact. Sharmell was picked as the winner of a beauty pageant in the early 90’s. The judge was iron Mike. And he picked her over the woman he slept with who was also a contestant. I think you know what happened after.
That is insane. Never knew that
She got to see Mike's Iron?
@@tdestroyer4780 not queen sharmell. It was Desiree Washington the accuser. Tbh sharmell would’ve been good for Mike. The same how Kiki is with Mike now. Pulled him outa bankruptcy. Helped him start his broadway show which helped bring in the revenue to open Tyson ranch and Tyson 2.0 which is worth well over 120 million

When you think of King of the Ring, you think of King Bookaaa
As someone who never watched wrestling as a kid (ironically I’m only now getting into it now that I have kids), king bookah is the only king of the ring I can name. Dude crushed it
There is also Baron Corbin. King Corbin was cool. @@mr.doctorcaptain1124
💯😆
The Macho King would like to have a word with you.
Might be the greatest King of the Ring WWE ever had
Definitely is!
Stone Cold
@@BernardBrunu1 nah Stone Cold just in the tournament but never have gimmick that based around being The King the only person that close to play The King gimmick as Booker is Macho Man
When booker hit WWE I liked him instantly… mainly because
He was so different from the staple WWF /WWE style
Wrestler. The fact that he was good in the ring and wasn’t afraid of comedy and is still doing this is incredible
Booker was and is awesome! Glad Vince made it happen
He seems so down to Earth and genuine. What a good guy.
King Booker to me is when his wcw and wwe personalities fused together to create a timeless wrestling character.
To be honest if Booker T did get granted to be released in the Summer of 2005, he would’ve eventually went to TNA the same time as Christian Cage and Team 3D did at the end of that year with Sharmell. TNA always had the lighter schedule because they were mostly just in Florida and their shows were taped
This was wonderful. Vince made the right move.
I started playing SVR 2008 and only knew booker as king booker but the more you become a fan the more of their work you see. Guy is truly a hof
That solidified his spot in the WWE, which very few ever reach.
And in WCW, he solidified his spot when he came after Hogan like a nigga😂
They where EXELLENT...!!!!! THEY BOTH complimented each other. Kudos to Vince for thinking outside the box
and then she was an incredibly valuable part of THE Generational Booker T run 🥳
I didn't appreciate this man as a kid as much as I should have. As an adult I can remember all those booker t segments. The Kurt angle feud is forever etched in my memories and his character was just amazing.
Him and Stone Cold in The Grocery Store will forever be legendary
All hail KING BOOKERRRRR

Looking back on your entertainment career and having the time your wife came to be your best coworker being THE HIGHLIGHT must be the best goddamn feeling.
That kinda love is something that I would hold on to forever.
You can hear how proud he is to be with his wife in the business. What a great man Booker T is.
You can hear the way the man speaks and the way he’s embraced by so many other athletes…..that he deserved everything he earned! 🙌🏽💯🙏🏽
"All Hail King Bookahhh!!" 🤙👑❤️🔥
Vince really knows his business. king boookah went to a whole another level
Vince was also a terrible person who did horrible awful things to especially women that worked for him. He was not a good boss, he was an actual waste of space.
@@BirchFlunch He was as great for wrestling as he was a terrible person.

Sharmel being included gave Us to me the best version of Bookah T aka Mr Harlem Heat himself💯😤 Salute to Stevie Ray🙌🏿🙌🏻
Love hearing Books perspectives. Some of the best interviews 💯
Nothing could touch his Harlem Heat run, not even close!
This is why that era was to me even better than the attitude era in a lot of ways. You have an iconic, legendary run and Book wasn’t even at the top at that time. You had all of these established characters that you really cared about and it wasn’t solely about who was in the title/main event picture.
Booker will always be in my Top 5 Top 5 Top 5 Top Top 5 favorite wrestlers of all time and 1 half of my all time favorite tagteam 🔥🔥🔥
Perc Angle also made this shit hilarious! 😂😂😂
I met Booker checking into the mgm grand while i was behind him checking in.. total class act.. i had a new phone couldn't figure it out, to take a selfie, but got a Pic of him by himself instead.. really understanding guy. Didn't act bothered by my folly .. alway was a fan but that interaction made him gold
Love these behind the scenes stories. As a kid me, my cousin, and my grandpa loved wrestling. Booker T was one of my favorite
Having his melanated queen by his side paid dividends, now that's what's up👍🏿
Beside every great man is an equally greater woman. Sharmell thank you for bringing out the best in Booker T. He became even more legendary after this run.
That's beautiful
I’m glad Vince stopped you from retiring brother! I loved the King Booker run some of the most hilarious stuff i’ve ever witnessed!
His commentary put a stamp of approval on an already legendary career.
That’s awesome! The little parts about Vince they dnt tlk about is how generous he can be
Beautiful story. Mad respect to Sharmell for joining and to Vince for offering.
Sharmell was so naturally charismatic and such a good mouthpiece for King Booker! Glad they both got to make some history together in the business
I remember watching Booker T and his wife when I was a kid and those were the best moments. I wish them the best. Those were great memories That’s hard to create now.
I’m so thankful they did that we LOVA YOU BOOKER T for real you’ll always be apart of my childhood and thank you
one of the best athletes. one of the best on the mic. And overall a great dude!
Congratulations brother for all your hard work.
True legend and broke barriers
This is a cool story. Definitely a great evolution to Books character
This was around the time I just started getting into wrestling. I remember turning smackdown on one day as a young kid and lo and behold King Booker walking down the ring . Also a side note , my father met Booker T at a bar here in Orlando I wanna say about 10 years ago . I still have that picture saved on my messenger . All to say , much love to Booker T . ( my father said he was a great dude )
I was so happy Booker T got his shot he’s been my favorite wrestler since he signed a picture when I was a kid. He was with Harlem Heat at the time Stevie Ray had left because the scheduled time for signing was over but Booker just started signing pictures like crazy so all the kids could have one. Long live KING BOOKER!!!
This was one of the best angles that WWE ever did, these two totally made your night they were amazing.
Even my elderly father used to get up in the middle of the night here in the UK to watch King Bookahhh! 😂😂😂😂
True greats ❤️💙
Thaddeus 😂😂Jonathan ..I can't shem 😅😅and the pinky ring😂😂
Brutha Booker y, becoming King was definitely one of the greatest highlights of your career and all the real ones thank you for it. But you have always been solidified, and then some. Always been the Peoples Champion
That’s beautiful. These people are truly something else.
Vince is great business man and he knew how to make himself and Booker T happy.
Booker T was so talented that he was successful in the WCW and WWE.
Thank you for sharing Booker T 💚👏👏👏👏
King booker was such a cool thing to watch unfold when i was growing up. Vince is a genius.
Its still real to me. I havent watched wrastlin in 8 years. Thanks for a great childhood Booker T.
Booker T seems like he can find the positive in any situation man. He was always a fun one to watch.
Respect to the King man! Bringing his Queen into the picture to make history #Salute
I was a fan since Harlem Heat and his TV title run in WCW was a highlight of that time for me as a fan. I played as Booker all the time in the game WCW/NWO Revenge. And King Booker was probably my favorite thing he did. And he finally had that world title in WWE, too, which I was waiting years for.
I was a kid during the king bookah run but thinking back now I appreciate it so much and it really does solidify booker as a great name. His work no one ever disputed, the song, the charisma, the crowd interaction always great. But taking a cursed gimmick like the king one was even then and not just surviving but thriving and fully re inventing himself as a main eventer speaks to his talent
I still remember watching Harlem Heat in the WCW era.
Glad Booker had such a great run and was given the credit and attention he deserved
That King Booker run was phenomenal. We needed another heel King character. Regal and Sharmell were just awesome fits for that character.
Crazy seeing these legends get older. I remember having my stone cold figure and booker t figure and recreated that grocery store brawl. man....good times.
Shout out to Vinny Mac for that gesture.... and for getting Sharmell (who's a native of my city of Gary, IN) into the WWE who eventually became a WWE Hall of Famer herself
She played her part beautifully well done to both of them
He was one one of my favorite wrestlers. Good to know he seems like a nice guy.
Relationships are about connecting & accomplishing together. They will forever have those moments
My Top 4 King personas: King Bookahhh, Jerry the King Lawler, King Harley Race & the Macho King 👑
Man, Booker in WWE wasn't my favorite at first. Simply because he was from WCW. But then you actually watch him work, from the mic to the ring, and you just start liking the guy. Simply because he was good in both. The charisma and talent were there. His stuff with Golddust and his feud with Stone Cold are some of my favorite memories from WWE back then. But he had so many good matches and eventually I just became a fan.
If thats how he feels then it was an honor to watch him do some of his best work over the years, and with Sharmell at his side
I love this story! This is so cool! And Sharmell did such an awesome job especially once he became King, like it doesn’t hit the same without her… shout-out to JBL on commentary back then, he did his part too lol
Sharmell did great as a backstage interviewer during her time with the WWF. Her contract simply ran out & they didn't have a reason to re-sign her until this happened & magic storytelling was done & we got the BEST King of the Ring in years, King Bookah & Queen Sharmell "All Hail King Booker!!!" Iconic.
Respect!! That King Booker stage was excellent!!!!
King Booker! Man I love his WWE run. Legend
