    Thank you for the bargain box recommendation. I just placed an order and can't wait to not run out of sand paper as I seem to always do!

    That lettering is sharp! Looks crazy deep. Almost like cliffs or plateaus. Great job.

    Hear ye Hear ye: For those who skip through and do not listen to full instructions. Do your research on your finishes before doing this technique. This works GREAT for what I do with poly urethane.

    When researching how to prepare baseboard trim for the house, I found similar instructions. It looks to be a great method to improve the poly coatings.

    Nice timing Matt, I'm just about to finish a Celtic knot walking stick for my father in-law and this tip will come in handy. When I'm done I will post it up on the Wood Carvers of the World Facebook page.

    For the final "sanding" use craft paper. Absolutely beautiful finish.

    I try to tell everyone I know about klingspor bargain box, I am part of a woodcarving group, Southwest Missouri Woodcarving artists, it is absolutely the best bargain around. With can of 3m spray adhesive you can make your own sanding disks or put it on sanding sticks you make or use popsicle sticks or just carve a custome sanding stick shape

    I do guitar finishing too.. try this trick. On your last 2 coats use 0000 steel wool between coats. You’ll be amazed at the difference in gloss.

    Been doing this for years. Learned this from The Family Handyman magazine of which I HIGHLY recommend! You can learn lots about all sorts of things, get product reviews, even has a "funny page" called Great Goofs. And like Matt, I am not a rep or getting $$$ from them.

    I am working on a solid piece of 12 in pine and I want to create 3 fine horizontal lines to create the illusion of there being 4 boards. Do you have any tips for getting a smooth long straight line? I was thinking the router attachment and some kind of guide. Thanks!

    Great tip, phenomenal work! How did you achieve the dark color around the letters? I see dremel stipple, but burning too?

    question. do you have to sand in every space and crack? ive tried a few times and just ruined both projects. im at the point now its either going to be no finishing and just stain or no more carving. it seems its a quick trick to ruin a project that takes hours to make, (yours look awesome though) . also ive tried doing research but it seems there is not much info for polyurethane application on carving/dremel work on flat areas etc. pleaaaase help me with this

    Hey im very knew to wood carving and i was wondering why you’re using a foam brush to apply the urethane instead of a regular brush. Also I love your videos they’re really interesting!

    • @CorneliusCreations
      @CorneliusCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey David! I use both. Depends on what I’m doing. I like the foam brush because I can reach into the stippled areas of the handle. The brush is easier to leave a smoother finish somewhat.

    Sanding between coats!!!! WOW, what a revelation. Who would even think of doing that? I’m going to contact all the paint manufacturers and suggest they recommend doing that on all the paint tins instructions.

      A lot of people don't do this technique. It really depends on what you are going for. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    You take it deer antler and go real fast with it and you can polish that after you varnish it like that and it makes it slick as glass then you varnish it after you put a name in it you do that inside the little cracks and crevices or like I do leaves on my stuff for little faces or something then you go over with that and you keep going over it real fast and you got you something beautiful are you taking some extra extra extra smooth sandpaper like they do cars with and I can make it so smooth it'll even slide right through your hands feels like glass that's my walking sticks and nobody taught me at a little I've been doing it ever since I was little I was about 6 years old when I started I used to make guns and knives and swords and then I got up to these canes I've sold a lot of them over the years I said a lot of days on that old front porch are used to live for my mom died carving on those old canes all day long and all night long I miss those days
