One of the very few TH-camrs who does POV street photography and actually takes good photos and not just random shots. Please keep up the good work, I hope I can produce work like yours someday.
Wow, thank you! I will do my best to keep up with these standards from now on ;) I have a couple of videos ready to be released soon and I am also quite proud of them. Stay tuned!
Just found your channel. This is your "style." Understated, letting your work do the talking. Music was the perfect choice. I really enjoyed walking with you down the alleys and backstreets. So much that I want to go to our city again at night with my camera. Photographs were outstanding.
A masterful presentation! I was in Japan fleetingly in the early 60's and have been captivated by it ever since. Your video has inspired me to pay more attention to my photography and also to Japan. Thank You!!
Your photography is soo good, it makes me want to throw away my camera. But! You give me inspiration to keep going and get better at my craft. Thank you for making these videos.
Well done, Adrien! Kyoto is my hometown, and it is quite interesting for me to see your point of view and shooting my hometown with foreigner’s eyes😊📷 Keep it up, my friend!
Thanks for such a nice comment! It is always interesting to see another point of view on our own hometown. Keeps me motivated to keep up with these standards. I have some new videos ready and you will probably like them too ;)
The music, scenario and editing are fantastic. I have a fascination with your photos, it´s quite unique for the type of content thay you´ve upload, congratulions for the video and photos.
Enjoying your videos. Thank-you! The ally shot at 14:54 has a nice Sci-Fi dream like state to my eye. And the tones in these night shots are beautiful. Well done!
Kyoto without any tourism just looks like one of the best cities in the world for photography/videography IMO. Great video as always man! absolutely love the photos at the bus station 9:30 :D
It really is! Thanks for such a nice comment! Keeps me motivated to keep up with these standards. I have some new videos ready and you will probably like them too ;)

Outstanding photos from your night walk in Kyoto! I have only seen Kyoto with tourists aplenty so I envy you for having this opportunity to photograph it from a far less crowded perspective. Looks to me like 85mm at night in an urban setting is THE way to go, especially after the sun has set. I'm looking forward to exploring your channel further. Thanks!
Well produced video Adrien and beautiful images! Only recently found your channel but you have some great work. I live in Osaka, so it would be interesting to see how you'd capture my city. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot for your comment, really appreciated :) I’ve been wanting to go to Osaka for the past months. I’ll surely go there before the end of the year 📸
Great use of the 85. As a fellow introvert this series particularly resonated with me. Kyoto is an amazing place, both stunningly beautiful and somewhat depressing as well unfortunately.
I actually prefer your approach to the VO. Too often vloggers will talk while taking a shot and it's really not a good shot or a throw away. Your reflection allows for a thoughtful collection. The work shows great care and thought, keep up the great work.
I realize this is a very old video, however - I have been keeping up with your latest installments. I would like to make a request. Would you consider adding the shutter speed and f-stop along with the focal length when your images appear on screen? I was able to follow your focusing method on the back of the camera for the most part and it pretty much confirms I may not be far off in what I focus on for night scenes. Subject first, distance second (unless I'm missing something). For scenes without singular focus point such as an alley - when the entire length of it is the main 'subject', where do you focus then? tyvm!
Awesome pics man!!! I had one question I’m ahooting in an 85mm as well, but it focuses to much on the center of the image and not on the background as in your pics. You have any tips. I know you are using F1.4 but is your focus are set to spot or wide or tracking. This would help thanks ❤
Wow coming from an xt3 the high iso performance here is impressing me so much! I am currently deciding between getting an f1.2 prime or switching to sony FF but the decision is so hard to make
Hey Adrien, as always very nice video. After watching a few of these I see we use a similar setup (only instead of the A7IV I use the A73 and now the A9II). I see you shoot at night with -1 or -1.7 Exposure Compensation. I wonder if you have tried the Highlight weighted metering. I find it sometimes helpful at night with a +0.7 EC. 😊
Thanks for your comment! I have tried this on my GRIII but to be honest not really with my Sony camera. I will give it a try, thanks for the suggestion :)
Thanks! I was still using the Osmo action back then. Recently upgraded to the Go Pro 11 but when it comes to action cam I keep it very simple. Almost Full Auto during daytime and at night I set the shutter speed to double to frame rate (180 rule) and leave other settings to Auto. One thing in common for both night and day time is the exposure compensation, always at -0.5
What focal lengths would you recommend to bring? I can only bring two lenses when travelling there. Should I bring a 28mm and 40mm or 40mm and 80mm or 40mm and 57mm or 135mm and 40mm or 28mm and 135mm?
Quality vid, good story telling and sequencing, Adrien. My guess is that your photographic style will emerge and change organically. 85mm a good lens choice for bringing you closer to your subjects - most still too far, IMO, but several are within range to make for good compositions. Favs include 9:50 man framed in window, 14:24 man behind grid window, and 15:29 lanterns/depth. Silhouetts at 4:50 and 6:46 also work well, IMO. Introvert? Really?😁 Kind of conflicts with your modeling ambition, no?
Now that there are COVID vaccines as well as effective treatments I would expect the world to open up much more by the end of May next year, I guess it depends on what kind of variants appear between now & May next year.
Totally aware of this and agree with your point. The thing is that here they are a bit too extra careful in my opinion and it is also due their medical system which is good in normal times but due to its complexity leads to not a lot of bed available for covid patients. Still I hope and think there will but greater relaxation by early next year.

Wow that’s a very nice comment. Happy to be part of the ones that you consider taking good photos :)
Sure, I’ll do my best for the upcoming videos
that's for damn sure.. it makes me cringe when those TH-camrs shoot random shit especially with teal and orange edit ugh
Agreed 100%
