Most comedy movies these days just try too hard. They come across as cheap gag fests with no intelligence or heart. 40 Year Old Virgin and Clerks 2 are the only modernish comedy films that compare to the heavyweights of the classical era. The best comedies are ones that make you laugh AND cry. Or at least have an intelligent or heartfelt story and gags.
This is my favorite movie ever. I’m a car guy through and through and a product of the 80s so it’s hard to say but Smokey and The Bandit comes in 2nd to Christmas Vacation
