I look forward to your videos. They are a pleasant break from all the negativity in the world and are also my favorite subject. When I watch your videos, my husband will pause from his golf shows and sit down and watch. We both enjoy how down to earth you are. He’s from Bartlesville so he feels a connection there. He calls you “Oklahoma Linda.” He suffers from what I call “Will Rogers syndrome” so of course you must have a nickname.
I enjoy the format and that you are willing to try things and share even when they might fail. As a lifelong gardener, I know this is the reality. You’ve introduced me to many new plants and design concepts. My current favorite is your “mixed media” patios. I’m now planning one for myself. I thought I’d share how your shows have touched us in a positive way.

Totally agree with your opinion on fountains! They are a lot of maintenance and I have the same issue as you…I would be running to the bathroom all the time! 😉

Thank you Linda for reiterating that the negative nellies will always be there but it is up to us to ignore or glean the useful parts and blow off the rest. I need to remember this in every aspect of my life. You did this in a very gracious but direct way! Kudos!
Years ago my Dad was having trouble growing stuff on a slope. The water just runs off too fast and doesn't soak into the dirt. He got red clay drain tiles and dug them into the ground behind the plants...he could water right into the tiles, and they caught the rain. It solved his issue.

🌿💗 I have slopes and totally agree…I am always mindful as well of what I plant at the end of the slope, where the water collects. Thanks for that tip as it is very helpful. 💗🌿

I love watching this channel and others on TH-cam to see how other people live and their perspectives on living, gardening, design, and so forth. It doesn’t always mesh with my ideas, but I love hearing and seeing how others live their lives. For me it is part of a wonderful journey of learning about diverse viewpoints and I appreciate that people are willing to share so much of themselves.

Still watching all your videos just usually have to binge watch when I get behind due to life change this past summer…You keep me so inspired and uplifted, makes me look forward to returning back home to NM in October…I just pre-ordered your journal and it will be the best gift to myself from you when I put in plants this fall…I’ve been in Houston all summer and the weather has made it even harder to be away from home…BUT to take a break I came up to Chicago to be with my mom and it turned out it to be the best decision ever to see her and be in cooler weather with so much greenery…Anyway just wanted to say that you have kept me sane with all the beautiful inspiration you give so graciously 💚!!!

You are the wizard of wisdom and have the ability to help us become more open to suggestions and do what is best for the plants. The roses will bloom much better as you have indicated in a less stressful setting and as most your plants thrive they will not let you down. You were meant to be the guide to your garden and respectfully understand their needs and are earnestly wanting them to have the benefits they need and in return will delight in their new location . You have an effective parenting style over your garden that nearly never misses. Love your vibe, practicality and being a collaborative welcoming agent. As an interior designer and have a love for gardening I understand your thought process to your design and the function. What may be appealing to others is not necessarily functional for you and you know best how you live. I have to wonder about the comments you must receive that are not nice. You are so gracious in how you have addressed those.
I look forward to every post. Your humanization of life is uplifting so thank you for that. I too have been blue or as you said hot over not being able to be working in my beds. I’m glad you have had cool front.

Linda, your YT videos are top notch in my book. Yes, sometimes I may not agree or even like what your are creating - but overall you and your gardens are incredibly inspiring. I will never understand why some people feel the need to be so negative and outright rude to one another. You handle yourself with grace and compassion - we should all strive to emulate that wonderful characteristic.

I love your style and vision. I think some people can not see your vision. I have a hubby that can’t envision the creative journey. He appreciates the outcome, most times, but can’t see what I see. I completely understand your creative thoughts Pres in all your seating arrangements, etc. I think many men can’t see the end results, according to the comments. I think the lantana is a great idea around your steps leading to the path up to your house…continual color and they can take the heat of your summer.

I love Kayla’s suggestion on the roses. My personal tolerance for the “extra work” for maintaining a plant that’s struggling (and to your point likely to continue to struggle) in its first location is increasingly low. My plants know my rule: I will move you 2 times max after first install…after that you’re out (hopefully on to a friend). I’m sure you’ll figure out what’s best for you/that spot/those roses.

Moving the roses is a good idea. My experience with the Sunbelt Rose line from Heirloom has been more successful in my often hot western exposed 9b front yd. Love ya Linda!
Follow Kayla’s idea about moving roses to east wall and the other plants to the corner. Great idea.
A pink colored supertunia would look amazing in the front where those struggling roses are.

I was patiently waiting to see if you said anything about viewers stating “what you should have or should do”… I feel you handled graciously! I feel you know what the heck your doing as long as you have done this, and your choices and work are incredible! I watch you in hopes that some of your talent sticks in my brain for my attempted garden!

Lantana stands up so well and there is that new mounded one that doesn't get huge.
Love your pants! Lantana would look great, also how about some Veronica? It loves the heat! And it always looked great at your former garden. I also have Veronica in my garden, I’m in 8a central Georgia and really stands up to our brutal heat/humidity as well! Southern gardening can really be a challenge 😊
I have white drift roses in my front flower bed that faces south and I live in Austin Texas. We have had an extremely extremely hot summer and they have continuously bloomed! Do not to give up on them
The heat has been hard this summer, lots of things didn’t fair well! Move the roses to Autumns edge and put ever blooming lantana. I just found a really soft yellow one I love. Beautiful yellow and I’m not a big yellow lover unless it’s a clear yellow.
And Ms Huff lantana is a perrenial and hummingbirds and butterflies love them.

I have commented on your channel several times, and I find myself encouraged to do so again. Linda there are several reasons why I so enjoy your videos. Thank you for giving us permission to fail and recognize it as a failure and then realize that it is an opportunity. It is those opportunities that stretch us and make us better gardeners. Also, the social issues that your viewers comment on. You ask for thoughts for people in need and in dangerous situations and then the replies to the comments begin. Overall, the replies are thoughtful and positive. And if not, then you have reason the think about that reply. Maybe it has merit and maybe you will dismiss it as not for you. All this is heading to a well done Linda.
Love hearing you discuss the nature of gardening as a creative collaborative process, especially with ourselves. Your freedom to change your mind, and your let's try something else attitude helps me remember that gardening is an active engagement with forces beyond our control. Giving in to that process without feelings of failure, but acceptance and ideation of what's to come is one of the great lessons of gardening. Thank you for your gracious reminders.
Love this video! I was feeling so insecure (as a fairly new gardener) over the fact that I wanted to move and/or remove several plants this fall. I assumed if I had known what I was doing, I would have saved myself a lot of work by putting those plants in the right spot from the beginning. How comforted I was to learn even a skilled and experienced gardener like you is still learning and your garden is evolving. Thank you for facilitating that change in my current perspective and future outlook!
.....and I'm so glad you encourage suggestions and comments because even if you don't agree or learn anything from some of them, I might....and others might too. They feel like a conversation among all your viewers and we're all learning from each other. I love that, and if I understood correctly I think that's what you're calling the collaboration, but to me it feels more like a gardening think tank. 😀
Moving plants around to better spots is a sign of being a good gardener.
For the entry of your front walkway, you may consider replacing the boxwoods with a heat-and-drought-tolerant evergreen; I recommend 'Blue Star' junipers. An "ever-blue" element might look great up front, and they are particularly good for slopes!

We are all different but as you said continue to share comments as that’s how we progress with our imagination and creativity. Like you are keeping pots near the back porch and as for me when I have food on a table I don’t want to see dirty pots beside the table. So yes we all have a different garden fit. Good job Linda.

Question of the day......first thought was don't move the roses, give them another year. BUT then I remembered all of the talk about how next summer is going to be hot AGAIN, so I like the idea of moving the roses to a bit more shade over on the east and move the lantanna that will take the heat and be in bloom and give a bit of airyness to the area. YEA good thought. My 2 cents. Have a good day.
I love your idea of cascading roses so I am all for giving your roses a second chance. I think the idea of cascading roses really speak to the concept of a fairytale cottage.
One of the most fun parts of gardening, stepping back and rethinking the layout. I think the lantana at the front steps would be beautiful! I also like the thought of something cascading as well. I’m living vicariously thru your garden since I am currently living “the apartment” gardening! So enjoy your knowledge and your channel! ❤️

Regarding the pink roses that are having heat stroke(!!!) I would move them if they were in my garden so they could recover in a more conducive spot. Also they are at your entrance and having a plant/shrub that is blooming most of the time would be more attractive. I am enjoying your newsletter.

I think you should move the roses to the East side. The roses deserve a better place. In the full sun in the front you should replant it with more heath and drought tolerant plants.
