Probably the best PC build guide I have seen on TH-cam. Awesome commentary and camera work! Please keep doing similar build guides in the future as well!
Yes! I love the extreme close-up during installation, it really boosts my confidence as a first-time builder with similar components on the way. Perfect pace of information/speech for me, I only had to back it up a few times.
+warfjm I know how you guys feel, I have always had the irresistible need to knock on a door 3 times and pat the nearest cat (yes this sometimes takes me a few hours to hunt down this cat) every time I see some bad cable management, i wish I had Joanne's will power to just say fuck it, but I fear my OCD has gone past the point of no return #OCDStruggles
Yay! excellent job Joanne :) I always appreciate your information, even including the areas in the bios you had to revisit after further evaluation. Can't wait for part-2!
My favorite motherboard and my favorite GPU cooler installed with one of my favorite youtubers.... nice Joanne. That memory kitt by G.skill is very awesome. This build deserve a nice and tight cable management, can't wait to see the next video.
+GlareArts YES! I made it!! lol It's been such a crazy month for production here at JTL, but so worth it :D I swear I haven't slept before 4-7AM in weeks!
+ChristosX I KNOWW! I've been looking for that RAM for awhile now... I wanted it so much cuz it just looks so damn sexy. I just settled with the Ripjaws V instead.
This is very similar to the build I just did. I have the Corsair Vengeance c70 case. Its large enough for your 1060 gfx card, and you dont have to remove any drive bays. Its pretty sleek how it comes apart, and the cable management is pretty sweet.
Thank you Joanne ~ Building a very similar rig w/ that exact Mobo, but with Corsair C70 Military Green case and radiator, and red fans - Same GSKILL though and they look awesome too. Didn't have room for NZXT case or I might have gone that way. Thanks to PCPartpicker as well.
Hey Joanne, let me know how you get on with them NZXT Kraken X61 fans, mine went noisy very quick. Not that impressed with them fans. great build by the way.
The "CPU_Fan" error can sometimes occur quite strangely with watercooling blocks. Most of these are adjustable via software (Corsair Link) and therefore conflicts with the mobo readings. You should have no worries!
+Joanne Tech Lover Also I forgot to mention: If you have fans connected on the 3-pin slave PWM connectors it will cause failure to register RPM. Check and move one of the PWM fans to a four pin connector that has all four pins. One of the pins is used to register RPM.
Thanks A LOT for this video and close ups Installing the 1151 is a pretty paranoid experience, although everything went as expected, I couldn't get rid of the paranoia, the pins visible from the bottom of the CPU when the CPU is installed is creepy, yet as I see, those pins are also visible on the CPU you installed As a suggestion for other installers, make sure your nails are cut and make sure your fingers don't touch the pins while inserting the CPU, from the videos it's not easy to assess, however it's extremely easy to touch the pins and very hard to avoid them
thanks for making this video. It's kind of like a guideline for what I need to do for my own Skylake build that I just started. you also seem to have an interesting accent in the way you enunciate words. I can't quite place it. regardless, thank you
I have an almost identical build. When facing clearance "issues" with the X61 being installed on top, you could just have the radiator on the under-side of the top frame, and install the fans above the top frame under the top shroud. I did this, and it clears space for the CPU power cables, plus it hides the fans (for the moment I have the standard white fans, though if I feel they need to be changed, I'd go for Noctua fans, which are ugly and should be hidden away as well).
Finally someones doesn't take ESD so seriously, it's really not much of a risk anymore. Also yeah it's safe to do the PSU thing as long as it's switched off and plugged into the wall, personally I just touch metal like you :)
Nice build so far Joanne. Also, although this was an awesome segment, I miss the cool music you had playing over the sped up parts of the last build. I understand you were just saving on time, I just wanted you to know I dug it. Lastly, that laugh of yours, like just after you said you wouldn't use the anti static wrist band, I find very sexy and yet...very menacing. LOL Keep up the great work, I'm a fan. LIKE!
+Miguel A. Wilder Yeah sorry, this has been a crazy month for JTL in terms of production! Lots of deadlines, and so little time XD. I tried my best! Thanks for your support!
+luncent lucy I am struggeling to decide if I love it or hate it. It looks super cool but I have to see it in person. Still deciding between Trident Z,Corsair dominator and Avexir Red tesla.
I'm so happy to see a female have such a channel. It breaks the stereotype in the best way you know. You are much better than the majority of your viewers. Falling in love with your voice, looks and videos over here!
Hi Joane. I've been watching your reviews since newegg. And i find you ao adorable. especially your accent. anyway, i love your bubbly presentations, much like how my sister does her (btw her name is same as yours) anyway, more power to your channel!:-)
Nice components... I know there are times when cable management is hard due to space, length, or location (port/pin/plug/etc) constraints, and comprises may have to be made, temporarily if nothing else... but then there are times when things were clearly just picked up, plugged in, and that's it.
Thanks for this video -- I've been getting the CPU fan speed error for a long time and didn't know what to do with it. I still haven't fixed it yet but I will try next time since I'd have to reboot the computer to do that!
+Joanne Tech Lover It took awhile to find the CPU Fan speed command in the BiOS since I have an older computer, but after putting it on ignore, it fixed the problem, and the computer boots cleanly again! Thanks Joanne you tech goddess!
+Joanne Tech Lover thank you Joanne. You helped me decide many of the components. MSI X99S being one of them. Loved that review and your X99 build video. Keep rocking
+ddthom2008 I know, I just say that 'cause I like to lump it all together :D Lol, must have been tired, and it's a test boot, so it's not the perfect install! Thanks for the reminder!
Excellent video. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as I am building a Skylake i5-6600K PC in the near future. One thing, though. Your liquid cooler is pronounced "Kraahken", like "crack"-not "Krocken", like "crocodile". I'm surprised that so many PC folks on TH-cam make the same mistake. I guess they've never watched 1960's fantasy-sci-fi movies or read much Greek mythology.
Hello, Joanne! Hope you can review the MSI Z170A Gaming Pro motherboard. It has RGB lights and I just can't find anywhere on the internet showing how those LEDs look like in action. Just pictures, which doesn't really help that much. Really interested to see how it looks like.
Hello, I notice this video is a couple years old, but I just bought the same motherboard but my liquid cooler is the "corsair CW-9060007-WW Hydro Series High-Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H60" should I plug the water pump connector into the pump fan header or the CPU fan header? I think plugging it in the pump header makes more sense, but then the motherboard thinks that it is missing a CPU heatsink hence the error I see you get. Thanks!
I told my fiancee that I wanted her to build computers like Joanne... she was not amused to say the least lol. Seriously though, great video! I'm currently doing a skylake build as well and I have all my parts except for the i7 processor... :'( I might end up just buying some M.2 drives in the meantime! I love the z170 features.
+Louis Zava Lol, never compare your significant other with other people ;p I'm sure she would have liked it if you said, "let's build together honey, so we can have a shared hobby!" or something haha
+Joanne Tech Lover LOL I tried that one too... She's just not into tech stuff like I am. It's always kinda funny when I'm trying to geek out about stuff to her and she just nods her head like "yeah, ok cool" lol
I wish I could make hearts appear from my fingers. Girls would totally dig it:). I know two ways to build systems without the ground strap. The first is to simply set it on your lap with bare legs against the case. It keeps you in constant contact with the case without a leash. The second is to put the leash on your ankle, house arrest style. I always found it easier to cable the system up then install the PSU and plug the cables into it. You can run the cables lots easier without having to worry about one end being attached to a 6-7 pound box. Edit - Addendum: One thing the A+ hardware training courses want you to get for a hardware repair toolkit is a flashlight. Since CompTIA is still fixing XP boxes with stone knives and bear skins, they don't mention tiny LED flashlights (which are so much easier to maneuver in a box), but those big ones that take C and D batteries. A little extra light in the right spot makes finding various ports and markings MUCH easier.
Can you install the Kraken X61 Radiator above the brackets, inside the top shroud with the fans underneath? Seems like you can get more room for the motherboard if you do.
Why did you orient the radiator on top instead of the front? Or did you just go off NZXT recommendations despite testing proving a front-mounted radiator seem to yield better results? Genuine question.
hello Joanne i dont know if you remember me from your last video i loved the mother board you use and couldnt wait for this to come out and i am going to be comparing it to the pc i had set out to build i have a few questions tho because the pc i was going out to build was for gaming/streaming and am wondering if the skylake pc will do better with this then what im looking to build
awesome video! Just finished my i7 6700k + Asus Z170-A Build, haven't installed OS (can't get USB to boot Idunno why) can you upload a video of you installing windows on this build? Awesome channel btw!
can you give a detailed explanation as to how you set up your fan hub on the nzxt case? I seem to only be able to control ONE of the fans connected to the hub (connected to the hub1 port). the rest all spin at max speed.
Nice video but the psu will probably suffer. It has no room to breathe since the psu bracket is installed and the psu faces fan faces up 9:55 Please turn it arround or if you want supplementary cooling remove the bracket
+Konstantinos Chatzieffraimides I know, but since this is a test boot, it doesn't matter, lol. I will be unplugging and reinstalling some parts in the part 2! Thanks for the tip on the bracket- how come?
It looks awesome! Good job. by the way I'm planning to buy Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero and ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970. I'm just curious, will the Graphic card cover the LED logo of the ROG motherboard?
Have you thought about trying out those low-end Z170 boards w/ DDR3/DDR3L support? Would be nice to see some comparison between them. :) Can't wait to get my hands on Skylake, too bad Intel has a shortage of processors.
Joanne Tech Lover Yea, Intel had shortage of Broadwell chips too. I hope to get my 6700K next week, as my reseller has already reserved Maximus VIII Ranger and 16Gb of HyperX Fury for me.
hey joanne, can u do a build with the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII IMPACT motherboard? I always wanted to do a build with that but just a bit unsure about the PSU and stuff like that. There are all sorts of voltages and rails and mumbo jumbo that I don't get.
Hey Jo. quick fact. if you are in the US and your power outlets only have 2 pins. plugging it in and turning it off wont do anything. as there is no ground pin that is the 3rd pin in overseas or canada as well I think. Very dangerous also setting the CPU fan to that low would drain your pump of power. the best thing you can do for water pump 3 pin plugs. is to get an adaptor and run it off the power supply not off a mobo header at all. That way when the pump blows (and it will) it wont fry motherboard. your power supply will detect it as it has current protection. motherboard doesnt !
Gedday from Aust, I love your Vids as they have been helping me big time,I am looking at doing nearly the exact same Skylake build with an ASUS VIII Hero Motherboard! I am however wanting to have a 2 x Way SLI Bridge with 2 x ASUS GTX 970 Video Cards, would you by chance have done a video showing the SLI set up? I am also wanting to use a dedicated ASUS essence Sound Card, ASUS Wireless Card and last but not least a DVB Tuner (Hauppauge WinTV HVR-2250). On paper the VIII has the needed PCIe slots, but I am unsure whether or not the VIII Hero will have the needed room for 2 Video Cards, Essence Sound Card and DVB Tuner? Any advice you may have and a point in the right direction in regards to a Build showing the SLI setup? Please and Thank you for any help. PS The VIII has the need slots on paper but whether or not with 2 Video cards I am unsure as they tend to take up a great deal of room on the motherboard sometimes blocking slots on the board and at the rear access. I am using an NZXT 820 Full tower as I fell in love with them due to your review!
Probably the best PC build guide I have seen on TH-cam. Awesome commentary and camera work! Please keep doing similar build guides in the future as well!
Hey Joanne, Look at you !! 62k + subs , and some really heavy duty sponsors. I knew you could do it . keep up the great work! I'm proud of you kid!
+billfromelma Thank you!
Doing my best all the time :D
So much details on both hardware and software configurations, one of the best built videos on the Tube. Great Job!
Yes! I love the extreme close-up during installation, it really boosts my confidence as a first-time builder with similar components on the way. Perfect pace of information/speech for me, I only had to back it up a few times.
Can't wait for part 2 cable management. My OCD was taking over towards the end of the video.
+warfjm Lol, I am very OCD too. But sometimes, I just say, "fuck it, it's good enough."
+warfjm I know how you guys feel, I have always had the irresistible need to knock on a door 3 times and pat the nearest cat (yes this sometimes takes me a few hours to hunt down this cat) every time I see some bad cable management, i wish I had Joanne's will power to just say fuck it, but I fear my OCD has gone past the point of no return

+Joanne Tech Lover: must.cable.manage.argh!!! ;)
Yay! excellent job Joanne :) I always appreciate your information, even including the areas in the bios you had to revisit after further evaluation. Can't wait for part-2!
+Jammin GI James Thank you!
Will do my best to bring you part 2!
Joanne Tech Lover Woo-hoo! thanks again :)
My favorite motherboard and my favorite GPU cooler installed with one of my favorite youtubers.... nice Joanne. That memory kitt by G.skill is very awesome. This build deserve a nice and tight cable management, can't wait to see the next video.
+Bruno Amaro Lol, cool!
I will do my best with cabling XD
Pretty sure you have the first build guide on Skylake Joanne. Really amazing video!
+GlareArts YES! I made it!! lol It's been such a crazy month for production here at JTL, but so worth it :D
I swear I haven't slept before 4-7AM in weeks!
+GlareArts She's not the first.
+NDogg15 But, I'm still on the early train ;)
+Joanne Tech Lover Indeed.
+ChristosX I KNOWW! I've been looking for that RAM for awhile now... I wanted it so much cuz it just looks so damn sexy. I just settled with the Ripjaws V instead.
This was a lifesaver when building my pc with the noctis 450 rog, thanks! c:
Black and red are always great combination. Nice build joanne!
+Nicky Aldyano Thank you! I'd like to try other color combos though, in the future!
After seeing a few of your vids, I gotta say I love your giggles. They're very sweet :D
Just ordered my Skylake a few days ago. Also using the Hero motherboard and the case. They just looks sooo good! :)
+TheUndeadLeech Yes they do! Have fun building!
This is very similar to the build I just did. I have the Corsair Vengeance c70 case. Its large enough for your 1060 gfx card, and you dont have to remove any drive bays. Its pretty sleek how it comes apart, and the cable management is pretty sweet.

Dang first an X99 build, now Z170 a few months later...doin it big!
Hey, Jerry :D
+Jerry Neutron Really?
I'm sure I'm not the first on X99!
You forgot to say thanks to me Joanne, since you are building MY pc ;) Looks nice, that case is a beast
+SavageLight Lol thanks to everyone for watching!
I finally ordered a cpu for this board. I got an i5-6600k on the way. I can't wait to put it to use.
Hey Joanne, let me know how you get on with them NZXT Kraken X61 fans, mine went noisy very quick. Not that impressed with them fans. great build by the way.
+Britec09 Thanks! I'll see about that!
Great video Joanne! I can't wait till its complete and your jammin' on your favorite game ;)
+Haysleyez Thank you!
Yeah, can't wait 'til it's ready to game!
Always love your pc builds. ..you do it so well and so easily..
+Terry W. Thank you!
I just have fun with it :)
I would have your vids playing on the background Joanne! xD Love you and your voice
+Tiff. A Cool thanks!
I appreciate your support :D
The "CPU_Fan" error can sometimes occur quite strangely with watercooling blocks. Most of these are adjustable via software (Corsair Link) and therefore conflicts with the mobo readings. You should have no worries!
+TheTacticalBrit Yeah, I'll take a look with CAM too later on.
+Joanne Tech Lover Also I forgot to mention:
If you have fans connected on the 3-pin slave PWM connectors it will cause failure to register RPM. Check and move one of the PWM fans to a four pin connector that has all four pins.
One of the pins is used to register RPM.
Great video, as always!! Can't wait to see the 2nd part!!!
+Roberto Bressanelli Thank you!
Will do my best!
I love this Skylake build! Cool Joanne!
+Deon7Dust Thank you! I love it too!
I love how this was similar to the build i was planning on doing
Nice build so far, now I need to watch your review on the case!
+Jason Saez Thanks! Also catch the mobo video too :D
My heart ached when the second ram stick was pushed down brutally into its place :O
I love PC building vids, specially when there is a grill in it. :D
+HJTh3Best Lol thanks!
I was only gonna spend like $50 on a case for a build similar to this but... that's such a sexy case
Thanks A LOT for this video and close ups
Installing the 1151 is a pretty paranoid experience, although everything went as expected, I couldn't get rid of the paranoia, the pins visible from the bottom of the CPU when the CPU is installed is creepy, yet as I see, those pins are also visible on the CPU you installed
As a suggestion for other installers, make sure your nails are cut and make sure your fingers don't touch the pins while inserting the CPU, from the videos it's not easy to assess, however it's extremely easy to touch the pins and very hard to avoid them
Thanks for the build, I learned a lot and you answered my unasked questions.
Great job!!! Can't wait to see the finished build..
+belle mielle Thanks! Will keep on building :D
+Joanne Tech Lover =D what software do you use to test your system's performance?
thanks for making this video. It's kind of like a guideline for what I need to do for my own Skylake build that I just started. you also seem to have an interesting accent in the way you enunciate words. I can't quite place it. regardless, thank you
mmm floral print.(never thought I'd say those words)Nice build, good component choices and brands.
+nunya biznez Haha, something flowy and flowery for summer!
I love you! 😁😁
you're awesome!
Now kiddin, really helpful & intuitive. Keep building awesome rigs!
I am going to build my skylake with this video.
Thanks beautiful, but I'd like one as assembled for you ..! Well explained and with that sweet voice, even better ...!
+samvicisa No problem!
I'm glad you liked the video :D
This was a great build! I'm going to use the Hero VIII in a new build next week :D
nice build! you maintained the color scheme(red and black) too nice!
+game hopper Lol, tried!
LOL
Keep up the great work, I'm a fan. LIKE!
+Miguel A. Wilder Yeah sorry, this has been a crazy month for JTL in terms of production!
Lots of deadlines, and so little time XD.
I tried my best!
Thanks for your support!
love that RAM...look super awesome
+luncent lucy Me too!
Joanne Tech Lover must buy it :D
+luncent lucy I am struggeling to decide if I love it or hate it. It looks super cool but I have to see it in person. Still deciding between Trident Z,Corsair dominator and Avexir Red tesla.
Avodat still hope it will last for long time...
+luncent lucy i have the same ram yes awesome look
Are you my twin? I literally did the same build except I have the r9 fury x. The colour matching of the mob, ram and gpu is amazee
I'm so happy to see a female have such a channel. It breaks the stereotype in the best way you know. You are much better than the majority of your viewers. Falling in love with your voice, looks and videos over here!
+Fibeus AND! you watch One Piece. I guess.
+Fibeus Thank you :)
Just doing what I enjoy, and challenging myself :D
And One Piece is one of my fav animes ever!
YAY Joanne !!!! Awesome build !!!
+deadbc77 Thank you!
Nzxt recommends using the other fan headers on Kraken. I have one and using the other fan headers resolved the bios error.
1000w psu was a bit of an overkill for this setup imo.
haha finally something all pc pros like me want 2 see from you a new pc build with all the latest hardware hahahaha
+szewei85 Yeah, it's pretty sweet :D
The case is bigger than you! Great vid as always.
+whistleking77 They usually are, lol.
Hey Joanne wub you and your videos (you know it's real when I say "wub" instead of love). From a Fan in Australia.
+DanielDaFoe_Gaming Thank you! I appreciate your support :)
Thanks Joanne, love your videos!
+Ace Knight Thanks for watching!
+Joanne Tech Lover Need part 2 pleeeease!
Awesome video. Awesome build. Awesome lady. Subscribed!
thanks, gonna build a skylake build soon today. wish me gl :)
Why do the Sponsors Get all the love? Joking! Stay Beautiful and keep making Videos they're GR8T!
+gonnabegr8t Thank you!
Wow, your PC looks a lot better than mine! Ngl, that MOBO is sexy!
+Wild Mitchell Lol thanks!
Hi Joane. I've been watching your reviews since newegg. And i find you ao adorable. especially your accent. anyway, i love your bubbly presentations, much like how my sister does her (btw her name is same as yours) anyway, more power to your channel!:-)
Nice Video but i'm hoping you changed the orientation of your PSU? i'm pretty sure its gasping for air in that shroud if you didn't
+Denzil Manickum Yup, in part 2!

Great video Joanne! Lookin better than a fresh plate of pancakes :)
+dominique hagans Thank you!
Lol, mmm...pancakes...!
Hey Joanne, I like your voice. Its ... calming. :)
+mjkmusial Glad you do!
Nice components...
I know there are times when cable management is hard due to space, length, or location (port/pin/plug/etc) constraints, and comprises may have to be made, temporarily if nothing else... but then there are times when things were clearly just picked up, plugged in, and that's it.
+NBMTX Thanks!
The space in the N450 makes it easier to route the cables for sure.
Thanks for this video -- I've been getting the CPU fan speed error for a long time and didn't know what to do with it. I still haven't fixed it yet but I will try next time since I'd have to reboot the computer to do that!

Well that's a funny lookin kitchen. So where's my sammich?
Best youtube comment I've ever read.
Excellent, I would love to see 4 core vs 6 cores for video rendering, I am still confused towards 5820K or 6700K
+PROHDGaming I'm looking forward to doing some rendering with the new machine!
Please put up benchmark video vs 6 core CPU
Awesome setup! I have an identical build.
Continue screwing lol. Had me crack up. Great video as always. I'm just days away from my X99 built.
+Ali Sher Thanks!
Have fun with your X99 build!
+Joanne Tech Lover thank you Joanne. You helped me decide many of the components. MSI X99S being one of them. Loved that review and your X99 build video. Keep rocking
There aren't any "Comment Buttons" here. Also you should install PS so that the fan is facing down.
+ddthom2008 I know, I just say that 'cause I like to lump it all together :D
Lol, must have been tired, and it's a test boot, so it's not the perfect install!
Thanks for the reminder!
I wonder if you could make a part 1 and part 2 combined video, nice and (kinda) seemless.
+elsydeon666 I will link part 1 of the video in the description of the part 2 :)

Why didn't u plug the water cooler to the cpu fan connector? That will stop the country fan error
Loved the video, keep up the good work! :)
+Hallan K. Bittencourt Thank you!
Nice builded Joanne
+BF KILLER Thank you!

can you give a detailed explanation as to how you set up your fan hub on the nzxt case? I seem to only be able to control ONE of the fans connected to the hub (connected to the hub1 port). the rest all spin at max speed.
What build do you have on your personal computer? BTW great video beautiful computer wish i could afford it.
i love how people get all their parts for free but still complain :3
Nice video but the psu will probably suffer. It has no room to breathe since the psu bracket is installed and the psu faces fan faces up 9:55 Please turn it arround or if you want supplementary cooling remove the bracket
+Konstantinos Chatzieffraimides I know, but since this is a test boot, it doesn't matter, lol.
I will be unplugging and reinstalling some parts in the part 2!
Thanks for the tip on the bracket- how come?
+Joanne Tech Lover I understand about the test boot😊 By how come what do you mean? About the supplementary cooling?
Should have done POST before assembling everything into the case
It looks awesome! Good job.
by the way I'm planning to buy Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero and ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970. I'm just curious, will the Graphic card cover the LED logo of the ROG motherboard?
Like any other ASUS motherboards, is it possible to get the BIOS to start up in EZ Mode rather than advanced?
thinks great video thanks
Have you thought about trying out those low-end Z170 boards w/ DDR3/DDR3L support? Would be nice to see some comparison between them. :) Can't wait to get my hands on Skylake, too bad Intel has a shortage of processors.
+EHliveFin I wonder when the chips will become available!

Yea, Intel had shortage of Broadwell chips too.
Maybe Linus tech tips would love that build!
The fan error shows up because you don't have a fan connected to the CPU fan slot but to another fan slot. It's a little thing Asus haves
Just a question you know the fan hub on the case did you plug it into the Sytemfan port on the motherboard to use the PWM feature
Hey Jo. quick fact.
if you are in the US and your power outlets only have 2 pins. plugging it in and turning it off wont do anything. as there is no ground pin that is the 3rd pin in overseas or canada as well I think.
Very dangerous
also setting the CPU fan to that low would drain your pump of power.
the best thing you can do for water pump 3 pin plugs. is to get an adaptor and run it off the power supply not off a mobo header at all.
That way when the pump blows (and it will) it wont fry motherboard. your power supply will detect it as it has current protection. motherboard doesnt !
+jack black Interesting! Thanks for the tips!
