A $15-$20 tofu press is well worth the investment. Not only does it remove the water but because there is less water in the tofu, it takes less time on the stove or in an air frier for the tofu to develop a crunchy crust. I love my tofu press!
What a terrific grandpa you are! I love that yr little guy loves tofu. So many kids his age would opt for chicken nuggets, and scream if they were asked to eat tofu. He’s gonna be a cool, healthy, open-minded young man. :)
what a great grandpa to make healthy food kids to day would want chicken nuggets the world needs more grandpas like your self you take care and God bless you all.
This was excellent. I didn't have garlic, so added ginger which made for a beautiful peanut sauce in the end. Enough sauce left over for spring roll dip tomorrow. Thank you
I wash out my expensive zip lock bags all the time for things like this. I use very hot water for the final rinse, hang them up to dry and reuse the next time. No reasons to throw them away!
Thanks for the recipe. I'll be making it tomorrow. Btw I don't think you should be scratching up your Teflon so much! Better to use uncoated metal saucepan with your metal utensils, or a silicone utensil that won't scratch at the coating
Freezing the tofu first helps it absorb the marinade so much better. It absorbs sometimes too well especially if you want to use some of the marinade as part of the sauce. 😊
I’ve been eating tofu for years, but never air fried. This is a great method. I had left over white rice and kimchi so made kimchi fried rice to have with it.
I tried this recipe out tonight. My husband LOVED it! I thought it turned out pretty good as well. We ended up adding it to the ginormous salad I had made for us for supper. It's a keeper! Thank you, Chuck!
made this today for brunch, let me just say that this is very tasty and filling and versatile, also included the rice and steamed broccoli...I'll be making this like once a week...thank you for this one.
I just got an air fryer so was waiting to try this recipe - it is fantastic! I have been trying alot of different recipes on you tube but none are as good as this one! Previously I was making my tofu by baking with just the "breading" but the marinade and crispiness of the air fryer make a huge difference! I cannot thank you enough for sharing this with the public! How lucky you and your grandson are to have each other. My grandkids live out of state so I am missing so much of their growing up.
You can also marinate in that ziploc bag. I feel like it soaks in somewhat quicker this way, as you can gently move the bag around more than a glass jar. You can also pre-freeze tofu (and then thaw it) to get more of that chewy texture.
I think I may have just found a recipe that will help me learn to like tofu. The marinade and spices and dipping sauce sounds and looks great. Thanks for sharing!
I love tofu in the air fryer! I am going to try your recipe. I never thought to toss in corn starch. I have the older model of the Cuisinart air fryer. I really like it, but I like yours more! 😉
Thank you Chuck! We recently got an air fryer as a gift and I was looking for new recipes. This looks delicious! Laughed at your 10:58 comment, "Did I mention......." I can't blame you for being excited about your creation. Just a thought...... ask your wife if she would like to be referenced as "my wife vs the wife" I know what my choice would be. :-) Thanks again.
Yum! Healthy Ingredient Tip: Use Coconut Secret's Coconut Aminos instead of the Tamari (low sodium or regular), and your recipe will be MUCH, MUCH, MUCH LOWER in sodium, and it tastes just as great!
This looks so good. I just got air fryer from my son/daughter in law for Christmas. Can’t wait to try later today. I seem to store everything in canning jars (look in my cabinets and frig). Now I’ll marinate in one also. Thank you muchly.
Hi Chuck. I also have an 8 year old grandson who is my taste tester so making this today. In what way can you have this ready fast when he comes to visit? Can you make ahead and just reheat? Thank you for the great videos
I am a brand new vegan, trying to air fry tofu for which I’ve never had nor have ever used an air fryer and I want to know when you said about using PB two or peanut butter was I to marinate that in with the other ingredients of your original marinade or was that for a sauce to dip in?
This looks really good, I'll make it with Tempeh when I get sn air fryer. What about the calcium added to tofu? There were news reports about calcium supplements causing strokes, heart attack, dementia plus more. I try buy only foods that don't add any supplements. There is tofu set in magnesium, I don'tsee them often, I'm not sure it's better than ones with added calcium. I sometimes eat tofu at restuarants but at home I cook with Tempeh because Light Life makes it with no added supplements or sodium, light life slso makes the best tasting tofu. I make most things with it that I use to make with tofu. Anyways it's something to consider, concerning calcium supplements, I personally don't think it's better for me to stop taking calcium supplements and then eat foods that manufacturers have added calcium supplements to. I get my calcium from food.
I have nonidea why companies still ackntofunliek this in europe in a lot of countries you get them in a tiny amount of water you open it and its ready to go

Finally - this looks like something I can manage........

I got soooo tired of cooking that I quit the WFPB... now got to start again.. thanks for videos
Using a jar is a great hack! Thanks for this! A little greener than ziplock bags. (edited for terrible spelling)
And easier to clean than the “eco” alternatives like Stasher bags
Way greener and a PERFECT alternative to a plastic bag, which is an environmental disaster. Glass is all I use!

The energy children have is enviable :D
I definitely love the combination of tofu and broccoli- will try!
pretty much identical to my tofu marinade, a little ginger in there will go a long way!
I ll try for sure!!

like freezing then marinating? like when its frozen?

I invested in a tofu press the best thing ever.

Love the jar idea. Thanks! Can't wait to try this.

Just tried your tofu recipe, and it's the best I've ever had!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Looks delicious. Using a jar is a great idea. Thanks.
Looks really good, I'm going to make this. Could you marinate using a vacuum sealer? Just an Idea.
Looks delish! The cornstarch is key! I might add some toasted sesame seeds too! :)
I use a tofu press, no wasting of tissue. Thank you for such a easy lovely recipe.
your quart jar method is genius. I can't eat sugar, so I'd have to use a different marinade, but your method is simple, and great! Thank you!
Thank you for this Chuck, hope you're well!
Super recipe, great instructions! Thank you!
Was literally just thinking about making fried tofu with rice and some easy frozen vegetables... Definitely going to try this recipe!

Yes! I love freezing my tofu. It’s so much chewier after you cook it!!
So do you press the tofu before you freeze it?
I didn't
@@michelebridge1126 No. I just put the unopened package in the freezer.
Thanks 🙏 for the info 👍👍
Great little recipe- thanks
I think I may have just found a recipe that will help me learn to like tofu. The marinade and spices and dipping sauce sounds and looks great. Thanks for sharing!
Looks so delicious 😋 thanks for sharing!

Yes… I hate it when men say “the wife”…so impersonal and sounds like ownership to me 😉
That looks AMAZING! Thank you!!
Oh my, first person I knew that also marinades with zip lock bag and press with a kettlebell lol. Mine is 15lb :) Thanks for the recipe!
That marinade makes a really good sauce : ))
Nice thank you
Yum! That looks delicious 😋

I would eat the whole block in one sitting I’m sure! Will double the recipe just in case…
Fantastic!
Sauce is yummy😋

nice tricks
Delicious! But... how do you keep it from sticking in the air fryer? Will I need to spray the basket next time?
Shake the basket a lot
Yum. That made me hungry.
This is what I need! I have everything on hand. Thank you so much for the recipe!
There is a SUPER firm tofu in vacuum packaging that is much drier and chewier. No need to press. I find it in Walmart.
What is cornstarch breading?
Use a tofu press! $14 amazon, best thing I ever bought!!!!!!!
Can you press tofu overnight or is that to much
It's fine!
Thank you for this video. I am new to tofu and I feel empowered to be able to make this recipe.
Hi Chuck. I also have an 8 year old grandson who is my taste tester so making this today. In what way can you have this ready fast when he comes to visit? Can you make ahead and just reheat? Thank you for the great videos
You can have the tofu already pressed, cubed, and marinating in a jar in the fridge. So when he gets there all you have to do is air-fry it.
@@brandnewvegan thank you!
I’m not vegan but all that looks delicious.

The marinade to good all by itself for the tofu. If you want a peanut-type sauce, you could add a tablespoon of PB2 or peanut butter to the marinade

I just bought 5 100% white cotton bar towels, now ill use them for tofu press.....not paper towels
Next time, try freezing your block of tofu and then thaw it. It gives a wonderful new kind of chewy texture to the tofu.
Hey Chuck! I have heard that if you freeze your tofu then thaw it out that it will have a “meater” texture. Any thoughts on this??
I've tried it once ...it's true!
Thank u. Have never been able to cook tofu. See my mistake.
I thought you're not supposed to use metal on a non stick pan.
Just be careful
I have nonidea why companies still ackntofunliek this in europe in a lot of countries you get them in a tiny amount of water you open it and its ready to go
Could not get recipe. Like alot of your suggestions but like a hard copy of recipe.
I promise, it’s quicker to use a tofu press.
It will taste the same if you do not press.
A hundred videos just like this one, you all seem to copy each other.
So what
