A $15-$20 tofu press is well worth the investment. Not only does it remove the water but because there is less water in the tofu, it takes less time on the stove or in an air frier for the tofu to develop a crunchy crust. I love my tofu press!

What a terrific grandpa you are! I love that yr little guy loves tofu. So many kids his age would opt for chicken nuggets, and scream if they were asked to eat tofu. He’s gonna be a cool, healthy, open-minded young man. :)

This was excellent. I didn't have garlic, so added ginger which made for a beautiful peanut sauce in the end. Enough sauce left over for spring roll dip tomorrow. Thank you

Using a jar is a great hack! Thanks for this! A little greener than ziplock bags. (edited for terrible spelling)

And easier to clean than the “eco” alternatives like Stasher bags

Way greener and a PERFECT alternative to a plastic bag, which is an environmental disaster. Glass is all I use!

I wash out my expensive zip lock bags all the time for things like this. I use very hot water for the final rinse, hang them up to dry and reuse the next time. No reasons to throw them away!

Thanks for the recipe. I'll be making it tomorrow. Btw I don't think you should be scratching up your Teflon so much! Better to use uncoated metal saucepan with your metal utensils, or a silicone utensil that won't scratch at the coating

Freezing the tofu first helps it absorb the marinade so much better. It absorbs sometimes too well especially if you want to use some of the marinade as part of the sauce. 😊

I just got an air fryer so was waiting to try this recipe - it is fantastic! I have been trying alot of different recipes on you tube but none are as good as this one! Previously I was making my tofu by baking with just the "breading" but the marinade and crispiness of the air fryer make a huge difference! I cannot thank you enough for sharing this with the public! How lucky you and your grandson are to have each other. My grandkids live out of state so I am missing so much of their growing up.

You can also marinate in that ziploc bag. I feel like it soaks in somewhat quicker this way, as you can gently move the bag around more than a glass jar. You can also pre-freeze tofu (and then thaw it) to get more of that chewy texture.

This looks really good, I'll make it with Tempeh when I get sn air fryer.
What about the calcium added to tofu? There were news reports about calcium supplements causing strokes, heart attack, dementia plus more. I try buy only foods that don't add any supplements. There is tofu set in magnesium, I don'tsee them often, I'm not sure it's better than ones with added calcium. I sometimes eat tofu at restuarants but at home I cook with Tempeh because Light Life makes it with no added supplements or sodium, light life slso makes the best tasting tofu. I make most things with it that I use to make with tofu.
Anyways it's something to consider, concerning calcium supplements, I personally don't think it's better for me to stop taking calcium supplements and then eat foods that manufacturers have added calcium supplements to. I get my calcium from food.
