Asian Arowana's breeding in a pet store aquarium

Today I stopped by Nestor's aquarium again, the store I feature a year or so ago with the incredible tank full of Asian Arowana's (Scleropages formosus), because Nestor had made a post on social media about them and i wanted to see for myself.
Nestor has this one massive tank with eight adult arowanas in this particular aquarium and they've started to show signs of breeding. So lets take a peak of whats been happening with these fish since our last visit and have a chat with Nestor as he tells us a bit more about them.

Very cool info! I've always wondered how Asian arowana breed! That xanthic one was beautiful! Hopefully the US will decide to eventually lift the restrictions on asian arowana but I doubt it 😢

I have not any being arowana bred in a tank. But if it's possible then I would like to know what would the ideal tank size be (L*B*H)to pair and keep a breeding pair

What really grinds my gears, is that we can get arapima here in the states but captive bred asian arowanas are out!

Asian aros are not easy to breed specially in the tank. You are lucky if you can breed them. ❤
Silver aros no doubt you can breed them in the aquarium tank.

The most challenging part in breeding asian aros is, if the male aro will fertilize the eggs. Thats the most challenging part. Better to buy “proven” breeding pair” but again its not easy. 😊
