I like how some see it a punishment and when they come back they are so spat on by their home chapter they return to the Deathwatch sometimes permanently as a Black Sheild
I really love the Deathwatch is such a unique force, I would really like if GW gave them more flavour in the tabletop, I mean right now with the Fourth Tyrannic War and Pariah Nexus, what better time there is to make the elite xenos hunters shine brightest with new great characters, units and especialist miniatures from the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Xenos.
Who’s here because of Space Marines 2, learning about the glory of the Imperium?! Perfection in 30 mins. All the while going in depth in such a small amount of time.
Had someone once say that the deathwatch were more like just a branch of spacemarines and wasnt elite, focusing on the marines sent there for tempering as an example. Let make it clear ..you mainly have marines transferred there that show an affinity to dealing with xenos or have great potential but needs it guided a certain way ... These are specialists which makes them elite ..they are entrusted with better armour ..better weapons and better equipment ...they fight the worse of the worse with smaller more covert groups, with missions often being vital to the cause... They have to adapt to other chapters ways and have unique formations... These are the sas of space marines ... They even have further indoctrination, psycho conditioning and tests of prowess to pass in order to meet the requirements .....you don't have an extra level of tests to achieve if you're the same.
The Death Watch is by far one of the most powerful organizations that makes certain that the Emperor Imperium could withstand the Aliens Horrors in the Galaxy, and without them many worlds would have fallen to their predation and their influence, but like all things in the i they are stretched too thin and many of its members are recalled back to their chapters they still fight in their eternal war against the alien.
Glad that Thraka finally got a mention in some 40k lore! Though biased in favour of the Deathwatch (3rd & 4th Ed), I do feel the Orks have been forgotten abit. With events after the collapse of the Ork empire of Octarius, and new Tyranid threat, the Deathwatch are busier than ever!
Damn man. Your videos have only gotten better and better. I'd love a collaboration of all you lore masters doing various voices in a story. Ol Baldimort did one a couple of years back, hands down a killer piece of story telling.
I am glad videos such as this exist. As time goes on, the current offerings of lore get less and less within the pages of the codexes, replaced by rules which while appreciated for the player, I still lament its loss. Interestingly, in most cases the Deathwatch have relatively high levels of local autonomy, generally not working directly or alongside Inquisitors. Their informant networks are still vital to their operations but often that is the extent of their involvement. I can see why such a force exists and that of its structure. A matter of loyalty and focus for the most part.
That tends to be all my homebrew chapter does - lend itself out to the Death Watch. We are basically a reserve force. There are some stipulations though, such as only allowing one of my Astartes per Death Watch squad, and no specialists other than Tech Marines and Libraries. The Death Watch also helped to solve the issue of Prinaris integration, which the chapter is still working on. We figured a tour or two with the Death Watch should bring these new warriors up to rough parity to where they should be as warriors, tacticians and strategists. The more tours, the higher in consideration they become in being promoted rank in our chapter. It’s just one method. The Primaris issue is a complicated one including for First Borns with no easy solution.

Too bad this organization didn't exist when the surviving Astral Knights were kicked out of their own fortress and planet to make space for another chapter.........oooops it had existed for like 8000 years then but the Imperium in its infinite wisdom decided that wasting 30 marines and a dreadnought sending them away to die like a stray dog was the way to go instead of inducting then to this Xeno-hunting group, it's not like the rest of the chapter had not immolated itself fighting the Necron or something.
I have a question about Deathwatch. So, can the deathwatch also take vehicles from different chapters? And if so, do they have the same paint job as the space marines? i/e silver armor on the left, and original chapter colors on the right?

The Deathwatch, is a mumbo jumbo "chapter" of the Loyalist space Marines, they were formed after THE BEAST almost kicked the imperium's ass, and are Xenos Specualist 😂 hey these guys are veterans though, sort of like the Grey Knights
The Deathwatch is yet another failure of GW "authors". In the attempt of creating a "chamber militant" for each and every Ordo of the Inquisition, they have created this "frankenstein", with no respect with previous lore. Being a Marine is all about belonging to the Chapter, its beliefs, its traditions, its tactics. They work as units, as we all know, since the comparison with Custodes has been pushed time and time again. The Ordo Malleus has a whole sanctioned Chapter, the Grey Knights. That was the way to go. I really don't think the High Lords would have denied a similar request from the Inquisition. It can also be noted that the Inquisition can commandeer whatever imperial force needed for a specific task. Just because not even a single Chapter can face a whole Black Crusade or a Xeno invasion. Thus, the basic concept of having an "army" at its disposal is quite nonsensical for an organisation like the Inquisition. A small cadre of specialists would have been the flexible asset for their mainly "investigative" business. But it is what it is. They Grey Knights at least are a Chapter, while the Deathwatch os a ragtag nonsense. Nust another one of the stupid GW decisions. Like female Custodes.
