- Today we shall elucidate the workings of the 18th Legion and Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes.
Known as the Dragon Warriors during the Great Crusade and renamed when reunited with their Primarch: Vulkan; the legion would be renamed The Salamanders.
Renowned for their mastery of fire and forge-craft, the sons of Nocturne would become a symbol of Humanity's ingenuity and the Emperor's mercy.

The Salamanders understood fully the will of the Emperor, beloved by all, and they are rare examples of actual good guys in 40k.
The Legion, and later the Chapters it separated into, that have always been the most interesting and emotion inspiring to me has always been the Blood Angels. But while they also fight for humanity to save and protect it, the pain of the Angel's death has wounded them so deeply that they lose themselves in it at times, and innocents suffer for it. The only Legion who meets, and due to their lack of mind breaking wound surpass it by not turning on humanity, is the Salamanders. While it kinda saddens me to say it, they are the most human of all the Astartes. The IXth salutes you all, mighty armed and mighty hearted children of Vulcan.

yeah i feel like they are popular and unique enough to get the special treatment for their line of models
They don’t even have basic primaris flamers but black templars get an exclusive flamer unit
I feel like Salamanders keeps getting beat down by GW tabletop wise, they give us rules that make our chapter unique, just to have to it given to all other SM Chapter but better

Vulkan aka lord lava nuget is the most wholesome, kind and compassion of all primarchs. he know he is like demigod but still cares for the small and fragile citizens of the imperium and do all in his might to protect those who cant fight for themselves.

@@Brandelwyn Nope been working behind the scenes since the beast. Emperors last orders to him since we now know he was in the throne room during the siege of Terra. RG will get a message at sometime that he isn’t alone. (My fan-fic theory until I am proven wrong lol)
I love that image of the astartes holding that one child in his arms and the others her hand. A massive hulking weapon of war yet so gentle when it comes to children

What i like about the salamanders is that they are something outside the field of battle. They are smith and engineers. As much as Ultramarines are administrators and Blood angels artists. They were ready to cast away their armor After the great crusade... Such a tragedy...

The Tempestus Galleries was the first piece of 40k lore I ever read many years ago. It was glorious.

My favorite legion, powerfull, but compassionate.
They are one of my favorites. They are the ones i can relate to the most in Warhammer 40k. Their warriors that protect the weakest. How they interact with people especially kids and those who cant protect themselves. Is beautiful to me. Their gentle giants especially with kids. They actually care a great deal. Every person who dies they couldn't protect it hurts them. Especially when its kids.
Just started up 40k again after a 15 year hiatus and the lore and everything around the Salamanders is truly heart whelming
The Salamanders are my favorite legion/chapter, so often overlooked for their more boastful and extreme brother chapters. The salamanders are almost ordinary, generic. Any of their history that might make them stand out amongst the adeptus astartes has been hidden away or lost to time as the legion and chapter has been almost wiped out time and time again. Despite this they bear no chip on their shoulders, hold no insecurities, they are steadfast in their commitment to the citizens of the imperium. Where other chapters see normal humans as weak, lower than them, undeserving, the Salamanders know better than anyone else, blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the galaxy.

Kept in mind what Artellus Numeon is one of a few Astartes what not only cried, but cried really A LOT. He went a litteral Hell itself to see his Father. And yet, he didn't. He didn't see a Vulkan even in his final moment.
One thing thats off is Salamanders are not 100% codex compliant. They are allowed to follow the promethean creed instead of the official imperial creed. And they only have 7 companies over a little over 100 Astartes each. One company for each settlement of Nocturne.
One of my three favorite legions. The others being the Space Wolves and the Blood Angels.

I go back and forth between my favourite astartes chapters, but salamander’s are always up there along with white scars, iron hands and imperial fists
I think we know full well the chapter Librarians make use of a specialised Vox caster known as Psycaster that is known to interfere with Chaos entities connection to the immaterium, often to the ire of the servents of Slanesshe. So strong a force that some in the Grey Knights look to Salamander Libra-Forgers to annoint their power armour with psy-forged runes to amplify their protection against the ruinous powers.

Too few heroes remain in the Imperium. Knowing the Salamanders remain true to their founding standards offers a sliver of hope in the grim darkness of the far future.
the apothecarion of the Salamanders also have a tradition concerning their colour scheme, an old story about an apothecary how never wash the blood of his battle brothers on his armor, for tradition sakes, the apothecary of this chapter now paint in red the left side of their helmet and armor
You are the most underrated 40k lore channel out there , 7k is gonna be 70k and 70k is gonna be 700k in no time!
It is not enough to simply be strong, but to use that strength to which we all aspire to help and carry those that do not have it yet. For one day that strength finds itself in all, and humanity as a whole climbs the mountain of destiny to look from the summit of compassion and deep, inner, victory.
The Dragon Warriors turned out to be big teddy bears.
