This is not a joke. Sokka is the embodiment of Rizz. Man slept with the moon, an awesome warrior, is a sword master, can actually use and throw a boomerang consistently, and IS A MASTER STRATEGIC! He actually is an element. An element of surprise
same. The book and the QuickStart guide just were not clicking for me. The rules make sense individually but putting them together just doesn’t really seem natural
I love Avatar Legends! It has some cool mechanical depths for PbtA game. It has great VTT supports too in Roll20 and Foundry. Thank you so much for the overview, Becca!
Awesome video! I received my copy not long ago and have been so excited to get into it once I have time, but this just made me more excited and should make it easier to get into as well! Thank you so much!
I've been doing a live playthrough of this on my channel and we've been having such a great time playing. We're doing a campaign set in the Kyoshi era 😁
Thank you SO MUCH! My friend bought the book. I was checking it out for a moment and they had to leave. I didn’t get a chance to fully read everything. Thank you! [>
I wonder if they'll update the game once the series about the new avatar after Korra releases. It would be neat if they did. Just gotta wait a few years.
this was amazing, thank you. but I have a question. does a game *have* to take place in the stated eras of Avatar or the hundred year war? what if there are games where a party of players want to locate and help train a new avatar in the past, there are thousands of avatar from the first Avatar Wan, and the current with Korra. there is a lot of potential for a fun game outside those stated eras.
From Wikipedia: "Campaigns are set in one of five time periods: Avatar Kyoshi's and Avatar Roku's eras, long before the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender; the hundred-year war era, during the Fire Nation's attacks prior to the beginning of Avatar; Avatar Aang's era, during and after Avatar; and Avatar Korra's era, during the modernizing time of The Legend of Korra." There's nothing to stop you writing your own campaigns for use with the system & setting them whenever though.
Wait if the GM doesn't roll dice how does it work when a NPC character (controlled by the GM) attempts to attack one of the player? It kind of seems like the GM's only role is narration instead of interacting with the character. Or did I miss understand.
Iirc, the GM "attack" the player by forcing them to roll saving throw to resist their attack. Smth about shaking the player's balance. It requires the GM to understand the PC's main drive instead of just throwing random attacks
I was really excited for this game but when I read the mechanics I was really let down, I don't know what I expected tbh but definitely not what we got.
Interesting, but such a question. Does the game itself create the plot and your story or does it allow you to independently explore the world with a set of standard events?
Definitely. Home running at sea villains. Imagine playing during the 100 year war as the fire nation. Maybe they'll turn trater. Maybe they'll burn down the southern water tribe.
in trying to remain flexible, they ironically made an incredibly rigid and bland system. you have to have a solid set of rules to play within to truly have fun. yes the story is important, but it still needs to feel like a game - especially with something as intricate as bending.
Ah yes. The 5 elements. Water, Earth, Fire, Air....and Sokka.
Fan and sword
Most powerful element known to man XD
This is not a joke. Sokka is the embodiment of Rizz. Man slept with the moon, an awesome warrior, is a sword master, can actually use and throw a boomerang consistently, and IS A MASTER STRATEGIC!
He actually is an element. An element of surprise
backbending
HEART! GO PLANET!
I'm so glad I saw this video! Understanding the game mechanics solely on the book was really challenging for me. Thank you sm Becca!
The book is really poorly laid out. After the kickstarter showed up I have been waiting for a solid explainer
Yes it is dnd challenging to
Same we had a session zero last night and i was a bit lost, I might completely change my character now 😅
Glad I'm not the only one. I've read the book three times and still had "huh" all over the place
same. The book and the QuickStart guide just were not clicking for me. The rules make sense individually but putting them together just doesn’t really seem natural
Thanks for breaking it down, Becca. The corebook feels a bit all over the place. I’m excited to try a game set in the Avatar universe!
My childhood self is SO PUMPED right now
Right?!
Becca gives me so much peace in the way she explain everything! Thanks for this
I love Avatar Legends! It has some cool mechanical depths for PbtA game. It has great VTT supports too in Roll20 and Foundry.
Thank you so much for the overview, Becca!
This looks like it would be so much fun, makes me wish i had more than one friend.
Yea, at this point the only reason I'd buy this game is to add it to my avatar collection. Not to actually play the game
Are the Sub-Bending elements in game? Lightning, Combustion, Blood, Metal, etc.
They are in form of advanced techniques which can be learned from rare masters.
I genuinely feel better. I was reading the book and having trouble following. Thank ypu for helping me focus and simplify, Becca.
I saw the Starter Kit for this TTRPG in Target, so came here to get a basic understanding. Thanks Becca!!
That's where I got my starter kit! Figured I'd better grab it before they stopped carrying it.
@@pdunwin Yeah my son saw this at the store, 50% off, and we grabbed it to see what was going on. Seems pretty cool, and a great video intro.
Thank you for making this - I was looking for a good explanation both for myself and that I could provide my players!
I have been WAITING for someone like Becca Scott to make a video for this.
Awesome video! I received my copy not long ago and have been so excited to get into it once I have time, but this just made me more excited and should make it easier to get into as well! Thank you so much!
I am going to watch this over and over until our first game this weekend!
Have fun and please let us know how it went!
@threeeyedtribe we played last night and it was pretty cool. It was kind of a whodunnit scenario.
@@MyFireVideos Glad to hear it!! It’s a lot of cool lore in this world so I’m glad they turned it into a board game!
So glad to see this, we have had a very hard time understanding the rules and play style as laid out in the books.
I've been doing a live playthrough of this on my channel and we've been having such a great time playing. We're doing a campaign set in the Kyoshi era 😁
I'm about to play this and I'm so glad I found this video. It's so helpful. Thank you so much
This is a fantastic review and walk through campaign and character creation!!! Thank you!
Yay! You’re such a spectacular content creator, Becca!
I was part of the kickstarter of this game. Too bad I still haven't a group to learn to play this with.
Thank you SO MUCH! My friend bought the book. I was checking it out for a moment and they had to leave. I didn’t get a chance to fully read everything. Thank you! [>
Seems like a really interesting system. Is an actual play session in the works?
It is and Becca as well as Zuko's and Suki's voiceactors will be part of the player group!
Becca you are the absolute best! More call of Cthulhu please!
I second that, more call of Cthulhu!!! My dark master needs more sacrifices
Thanks forever this video. I’d love more avatar ones ❤
Thank you helped so much!!!
I wonder if they'll update the game once the series about the new avatar after Korra releases. It would be neat if they did. Just gotta wait a few years.
This video is fantastic great job.

Think of it in dnd term as....uhh....throwing vicious mockery with styles
I was just thinking about what an Avatar board game would be like. Crazy
I was really excited for this game but when I read the mechanics I was really let down, I don't know what I expected tbh but definitely not what we got.
I mean, it is up to your group to tweak and change things, that makes these kind of games fun.
this is so helpful thank u
Does there have to be a certain amount of people for a campaign
I think it's minimum 3, maximum 6 players.
Interesting, but such a question. Does the game itself create the plot and your story or does it allow you to independently explore the world with a set of standard events?
But honestly, even if the plot is closed, I would play the game in order to have full freedom and spread the plot to the whole world
I believe you can create your own story using multiple timeline of your choice as the background
Becca Scott is the best
Dnd and avatar
Making a Villain team anyway
Is the campaign written to start?
If you mean like a 1 shot, then the starter set has 2
Thanks Becca
Let's FUDGING GOOOOOOO
Could you have a notebook to keep track of your character
Or to keep track of the story
So it’s like dnd for avatar ?
Basically, but Powered by the Apocalypse is a different system than D&D
Same let's goooo
Wish I had people to play with
Why can't I be a cabbage seller?
Too strong. Would break the game
Hmm. Hope there are rules for some nice tea with fellow travellers on the road.
Also: there are very few better than Becca at doing game summaries.
There is! You can guide and comfort!
Review was great! I'm going to hold off on this; it sounds too limiting for my taste.
Definitely. Home running at sea villains. Imagine playing during the 100 year war as the fire nation. Maybe they'll turn trater. Maybe they'll burn down the southern water tribe.
I so badly want to play now. I already have a detail for a character backstory that I think no one would have picked/chosen.
Tried looking up this girl on google and the first suggestion was feet pics, wtf
Eeeeyooooo wut
So it’s basically D&D but avatar
No.
yes.
Is very hard not to form a parasocial attachment when you say things like “miss you already” 🥺
So true 😅
why does she never blink lol
Hot.
Interesting looking game, but the drumming was getting to me
wow this seems so lame lol
