  • This is a step-by-step tutorial demonstrating how to sew the Bellezza Handbag by Bagstock Designs. The skill level is advanced and the pattern is great for anyone who wants build their bag making skills. This is a new pattern that is currently being sold through the Bag of the Month Club and will be available to purchase directly from Bagstock Designs in January 2021. I have used a linen blend for the exterior of the bag and 100% cotton quilting fabric for the linings along with Wovenfuse 2, Decovil Light and Pellon 911F for interfacings. I sew the bag with my Sailrite Fabricator industrial sewing machine, but this bag can be made on a domestic machine depending on the fabrics and interfacings you choose. I have included Timestamps below for each section of the video, so please feel free to skip around. I hope you enjoy the video and find it helpful. Please like and subscribe.

    Rosie you did such an amazing job on this bag. You have a talent of putting fabrics together that I would never had thought went well together like in this video. The fabrics look so rich together and the bee hardware was the perfect addition. You should be so proud of yourself!! Thank you for making these videos.

      Thank you so much for your very kind comment and for watching. I have to be honest and say a that the fabrics I chose for this bag were out of the comfort zone as they were not typical of what I normally chose. I was not sure if I would like them, but now that the bag is done, I love them and am happy with the final result.

    Stay Stitching!! Thank you Rosie! That's used in garment sewing and I think that's my problem (at times) when going around curved corners in bag making especially attaching zippers around the curved corners. Secure the curved with Stay Stitching. Going to do that with the next rounded corner bag.

    • @RosiesArtStudio
      @RosiesArtStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes...stay sticking is used in garment construction! It definitely stabilizes the curves when making a bag. Thanks for watching!

    Rosie how are you getting your interfacing on so perfectly? Are you sewing it on and then cutting everything together? It looks so perfect.

    • @RosiesArtStudio
      @RosiesArtStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I fuse the woven interfacing to a larger pice of fabric and then trace the pattern onto the side of the fabric that has the interfacing and then cut out the pieces. It saves having to cut out two pieces. With the foam, I will lay whatever piece I need to interface down on a piece of foam that is slightly larger and baste around, then cut off the excess foam.

    Hi Rosie. I’m new to your channel I’m a paper crafter and I make paper purses. Well during the pandemic I’ve included fabric to my crafting. Mostly small projects like oven gloves and mug rugs. My next try is going to be a purse. I downloaded one if the patterns for a beginner.
    My question is what woven fusible lining do you use. And where do you get your great looking fabric. Thank you for sharing your talents.

    • @RosiesArtStudio
      @RosiesArtStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do paper crafting as well! I am glad to hear that you are starting to make bags as well. Fusible interfacings I like to use are Wovenfuse, Pellon SF101, Decovil Light and Pellon 911F. I like to use 100% quilting fabric for my bags and you can google online quilt shops for fabrics or visit a local quilt shop. Happy sewing!

    Hi Rosie, I need your honest blunt opinion. I purchased the Juki 2010Q right before you bought your Fabricator. My Juki is still sitting in the box unopened because I'm scared I bought the wrong machine to make bags like this. What are your thoughts on the Juki 2010Q? I want to make bags as a hobby and maybe sell a few. I'll be using cotton, vinyl, with all the heavy duty interfacings.

    • @RosiesArtStudio
      @RosiesArtStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have the Juki 2010Q and I really love it. I have made many bags on it using the same interfacings you saw in this video. In fact, I have not sewn on it for about a month because I was using the Fabricator, but I used it today and I thinking what a great machine it is. It will sew through most materials, but I would not use it for leather or heavy vinyl. If you are using quilting cotton, lightweight vinyl, cork, foam, Decovil Light, Fleece, the Juki 2010Q does a great job. The Fabricator is twice the price, so that is something to consider as well. They are both great machines! Best wishes in making your decision.

    Question: is there a particular double sided tape you use & doesn’t your needle get gummed up from using it? Thanks.

    • @RosiesArtStudio
      @RosiesArtStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tape I use in the video is really meant for paper rafting, not fabric. But it was what I had on hand so I used it. I have not had issues with it gumming up the needle. I recommend that you use tape that is meant for fabric. Thanks for watching!
