I am a simple old enough man from Romania, without a musical ear and without musical education, but when I listen to Justin's music and interpretation, I get goosebumps and shed tears ... Does this mean I still have hope? (sorry for my poor English!...)
He didn't invent that though. The blues is an amazing genre that created every other genre of American music from rock to jazz, and it started with black musicians playing in crowded taverns with improvised devices and shoddy guitars.

All the world's music over an age gathered here in the states and then, as immigrants merged together in different areas for different reasons (some good some bad and some ugly), new sounds and ensembles were tried and tested until we get the blues; after that point it's like all other music spawned from there.
i'm constantly on the search for sounds i can play while painting: not demanding or melodramatic, earthy, beautiful, complex but not distracting...something i can ride on. this stuff is like a breeze through the window. thank you.
My friend used to play Roy B, stuff back in the day, he rode a 69 Triumph, great bike, I used to listen to the" London Sessions" on the radio, those memories, help me paint, and play guitar, Thanks for inspiration, as you are a younger person, Reminds me not to take for granted where I learn from, Cheers!

This whole set is amazing and I adore it. Takes me back to a time when I was coming back from a show (I am a medieval re-enactor/trader in UK) with one of my closest friends. It was a long drive and the sun was setting over a forest of silver birch while we just sat in comfortable silence enjoying the soundtrack to a beautiful moment. He has since died of cancer but this will always be one of my fondest memories of him. Such soul and beauty coming from the man and the guitar, thank you.

Every nite at dinner I spin thru the music that TH-cam offers up for something to listen to while preparing and eating dinner. I decided to choose the first music theme that i looked at and this was it. This is by far the most interesting stuff I have ever heard.. This guy can really make a guitar talk. I am no linguist but I'd say it's the blues. Yup.

I've been trying to watch through to the end since last Thursday night but can't get by the first 30 minutes because of what Justin is playing between about18:45 to about 24:19. I keep returning to it, it's just grabbed me. I could imagine a male singer with a gravelly voice singing to his playing...just too good!

I've always loved mississippi slide delta.... And this video just reinforces that (as with all Justin's eargasms!).... My 2 Yr old lad loves it too, we listen to it when it's his bottle feed and it soothes him in no time at all... After about 15mins he's solidly asleep, and I get 45minutes of extra bliss!

Music is an art for sure.. We can not be an expert of each and every kind or "branch" so I've never listened to Blues music seriously.. But when a musician is good, his music becomes automaticaly universal and speaks to all the lovers..

I've seen quite some guitar youtubers. There's this one guy who can play "snow" with one hand. Very mechanical. That's why I watch Justin. He plays emotional. He loves the instrument. He wants to play, and I want to listen!
Hell, I thought this was going to be an hour of various top slide guitarists. I was going to lay back and use this as a timer to mark “one hour. About “30 min” in, I had to use the “facilities” I glanced over to see all this great pickin’ was coming from one great guitar player. I am “blown away” impressed. Now I’m looking for a CD of like kind of music to buy. I haven’t heard of anything worth buying in over 10 years! “Thanks so much man. You are definitely worth the price!” And I say this before I even know what the price is, because I know that a man this generous with his music is going to give me a square deal.

John Prine - Caravan of fools. I think it gives about the same vibe. But that's just my two cents
What tuning does he have? It’s played like a blues but it sounds sort of western / Mexican to me
@@malaquiasalfaro81 I think it's D minor, open tuning. Similar to the one Skip James used to use (E minor tuning), just tuned down a step.
Your suggestion of a gravelly voiced male brought to mind the late John Martyn. He could have filled that spot. Check him out.

I've always loved mississippi slide delta.... And this video just reinforces that (as with all Justin's eargasms!).... My 2 Yr old lad loves it too, we listen to it when it's his bottle feed and it soothes him in no time at all... After about 15mins he's solidly asleep, and I get 45minutes of extra bliss!

@@johnsee7269 i saw something with Val who implied he did both sides of that jam but I could have heard wrong or be wrong now I want to know again . Ry cooder was in a lot of it and i was disappointed more wasn't in the sound track .

@@charleskinsey2141 Vai did all of Jack Butler's track, and the classical parts of Macchio's solo. Roth did all the blues. IOW Vai worked on both solos, but none of the blues.

Music is an art for sure.. We can not be an expert of each and every kind or "branch" so I've never listened to Blues music seriously.. But when a musician is good, his music becomes automaticaly universal and speaks to all the lovers..

I've seen quite some guitar youtubers. There's this one guy who can play "snow" with one hand. Very mechanical.
That's why I watch Justin. He plays emotional. He loves the instrument. He wants to play, and I want to listen!
Where I need this is on Spotify so I can zone out to it while working out, driving, studying, whatever...beautiful stuff.

Hell, I thought this was going to be an hour of various top slide guitarists. I was going to lay back and use this as a timer to mark “one hour. About “30 min” in, I had to use the “facilities” I glanced over to see all this great pickin’ was coming from one great guitar player. I am “blown away” impressed. Now I’m looking for a CD of like kind of music to buy. I haven’t heard of anything worth buying in over 10 years! “Thanks so much man. You are definitely worth the price!” And I say this before I even know what the price is, because I know that a man this generous with his music is going to give me a square deal.
