Inovato Quadra HAMPI Memory Card Bigger than 16GB? Do This! HamIQ Ham For Ham Radio

- I got to Walmart, I buy some memory cards, I test them.. They work.. I have fun...Later we revisit the comments where someone is upset that I didn't just get to the point. :)
In this brief episode, I test the 16gb memory card and explain why you may have issues writing your 16gb memory card with HamPI/HamIQ and I show you how to expand the filesystem for your Inovato quadra HamPI / HamIQ install.
Is your MicroSD card only reading 16gb, even thought it's larger? Run these commands:
sudo systemctl enable armbian-resize-filesystem
sudo reboot
This is video 3 on the Inovato Quadra. I will b posting videos occasionally regarding this device. Specifically, I would like to post how to guides on certain software within HamPi/HamIQ. However, time is a factor, so patience please.

Hot tip: if you wish to just burn the image to the device drive, just unplug everything, only plug in the power, and wait about ten minutes until the light turns blue on the quadra. Then you should be able unplug, remove the sd card and plug everything back in, stuff the Hampi/hamiq image on the internal 16gb drive. Video to come
Dang you Sean. Costing me mo $$$. I ordered 3 of these 128's, plus finally pulled the trigger on the 34" Samsung. I've been waiting for a price drop but it hasn't come and I don't want to miss out on it.

I must be a simp because I'm happy with the ham clock running when I'm not operating and then if I see an uptick in action I get on the air. It's changed how I radio thanks Sean!

Sean, Thank you soooo much for all the great info on the Inovato Quadra and HamPi. After watching a couple of your vids I ordered the Quadra Plus and am getting ready to set up HamPi and use it as my primary Ham Radio computer. I too had a lot of issues with 16GB memory cards and now have some larger ones I am going to put the image on. I guess I'm gonna have to learn some Linux!!!

Thank you! I had to take a few weeks off from certain things, and I think during this time there's an update where a larger than 16gb card is required, so that probably explains it. Shooting for another video soon

Just got my Quadra. Are you planning on doing some videos on maybe how to set up for portable i.e what monitors to use, setting up for POTA.
yes, but it's the holiday season and I'm severely limited on time. I can only do one video a week and hope to get the WSJTX situation resolved first, then followed by some sdr stuff, etc. But eventually we will get there.

A quick note I took the Quadra apart there is no internal SD socket. Everything is on board, nothing serviceable there.
Do you happen to know if installing an additional SD card while using the default installation will help? I have a few extra cards laying around, but the Quadra is running on it's default installation. It's running fine, but I wonder if more will help. I don't want to run hamiq or hampi. Thanks
You can also run raspi-config and choose the option to use the whole sd card and it will expand automagically.
Out of curiosity have you ran into the message from wsjt-x saying it’s a pre release and will stop working sometime this month?
Hey, thanks. I tried raspi-confg a few times and was told it didn't exist. Although there's the potential I was having a moment and missed the obvious. The issue with wsjtx is what's stalling my next video. I did the update, it installed the update, but I still get the error. I'm hoping to look into it more tomorrow.
Look into SWAP & ZRAM.
USPS said my quadra will be here tomarrow. I have downloaded the HamPi for the quadra and going to get some 128 cards today. Hope to have them ready when the quadra gets here. Thank You Very much for the information! Running the logging will put more folders on the card for the logging. I know it will not be big files but I know we will find many other things to put on that disk. Do you think it will take a 256 sd card? OK I will try it. what do I have to lose? Is there a way to put a backup program on the Quadra so we can just run that to make a back up of the card. Would need to USB card reader in one of the USB ports to do that, but I have one or two of them. 73 W4DES

Well, I am not sure they have this ready for prime time! I connected it to my TV. put the power to it. It asks if I wanted to do full screen. I made the mistake of saying yes! Then it said to set up internet click on the thing in the upper right corner. All the things were off the screen! I tried to change it but nothing got the things where I could use it. After working with it for long enough I think it is a $45 target! I didn't find a way to get the things where it was usable. I went to load the HamPi on to a 64G disk, but the program said that there was not a operating system. You didn't show if yours said that, if that makes a difference. This is not ready for not programmers to use. I will see if I can get the hamPC to work, but I am not sure if that will screw up the programs, I already have set up so I would need to go through the setup again. @@HAMRADIODUDE
Question, did you format the SD first? If so how? Doesn't it need fat32? I'm diving in this weekend, so getting everything ready!

I put a SanDisk ImageMatePro 256GB memory card on my inovato quadra.
I tried to load hampi directly to my quadra plus and now can't find it.
There may be a reason for this. I understand the latest update from last week will be bigger than 16gb. I believe the Quadra only has 16gb of internal storage.
UHS-1 is a little slow for other applications I need (4k video), and I hate to have cards lying around that won't work for whatever I grab it for. But if you don't have that need for speed, this is a steal.
So far, everything seems okay. But I will wonder how long these cards will take constant writing and rewriting
SanDisk and Kingston Products are the BEST. Great Buy, Sean! Formated they always have a little less Storage than 128, 64 or whatever Gigabytes. And then it depends on if it's format as FAT32 or NTFS. DUDDDE c'mon, I thought you knew about all this before....? Dumbass wrinkly Uncle Guenter knows it how come you don't? 🤔
