We ultrasonically clean/rebuild carburetor and check over Toro Powerclear 518ZR and Power Clear 518ZE snow blower
These snow blowers would not start after sitting with fuel in them. We clean the carburetor and show how to fix the issues. Also we go over what else to watch for when re-assembling.
Replace carburetor if it is in bad shape. Please note: No matter what brand of carburetor you use if replacing please clean it first! See our video on quality control to see why!
The OEM carburetor can be purchased at amzn.to/48saIGE
An aftermarket carburetor can be purchased at amzn.to/3N9KoIw
Spark plug can be purchased at amzn.to/3t1liVu

Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.
Thanks for watching!

Great job! Always feels good when you can get it going yourself! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much
Mine would start but wouldn’t stay started
unless I kept priming the engine so I kinda knew it had to be the carb and your video was a step by step that saved the day and my back 💯
Good job! Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video! Carb jet was the issue and now the snowblower is working!!!!
Awesome! Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Excellent instructions. High quality video.
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
I found one of these power clears in the rubbish. It was the electric start model. All it needed was a new carburetor and oil change. I'm not normally a fan of single-stage snowblowers but I like this model
It's a good unit! Not thr highest quality but what is nowadays
Very nice tutorial. Worked for me!
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video. The main jet in mine was gummed up really badly..
Doesn't take much sometimes! Thanks for watching!
Well done. Got my Toro running after watching this! Thanks, I really appreciate it!
Glad to help! Thank you for watching!
Great video. Man, I could have watch this video DYI and fix my Toro this afternoon before give it away for $120 only. Easy fix, so no wonder I got tons of people calling to want take it off my hand. These Toro are great but I failed to drained the fuel from the bottom of the carburetor so this year it won't start. Oh well, that dude probably do a quick fix and turn around making few hundred dollar.
Definitely so! Sorry you didnt see it sooner. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate the video. Seen other videos but yours got my snow blower working. Thanks again.
Thanks for that! Appreciate you watching!
Good job getting it back goin!
I have a Toro Power Clear 418 ZE, and it looks just like the one on the video, I cleaned the carburetor with brake cleaner and changed the spark plug and it started up. Thanks for the help.
Glad you got it going! Brake cleaner is rough on the rubber/plastic parts but long as it doesn't stay on too long I guess it wouldn't do too much damage! Thank you for watching!
Been playing with that thing for yrs lol. Did this an it started on First pull. Idling high but it's running. Great video thank you!
Glad it got you back up and going! Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the video. Exactly the tutorial I was looking for!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video.
Well explained and straight to the point. Good job 👍
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for very clear instructions! Gonna try this on my Toro 621e. I know it is a little different, from these models, but in general I expect it to be very similar.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much I did it myself and it works great
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Great well explained video. Thanks !
Thanks for watching!
thanks for the carb rebuild, thats my problem will run in choke but not with open, clogged jets I'm sure.
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Great video, just what I needed. 5 stars!😁
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Perfect and thank you!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate that!
Excellent video. I changed the spark plug and it started. When I move the choke to the left it shuts down. Is it supposed to do that?
No, it means the fuel quality is bad or the carburetor is gummed up and needs cleaned likely
Thank you!
Got my weekend project, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Welp I got as far as taking the primer tube off of the carb but it will not budge and I'm too afraid of ripping it. I may need a better pair of needle noses I guess. Also I stupidly unscrewed the screw that goes diagonally into the bottom of the carb and some what appeared like blue fluid came out? Was pretty smelly, like chemically. Not sure what that is but
Good news. I was able to get the fuel line and primer line off finally. Just had to use a little elbow grease. The main jet was pretty well gummed up so cleared that out real good and sprayed down the rest. Next weekend I'll reassemble and see what I got!
Haven't a tough time getting the linkage back into the hole on the carb. PITA
Well miraculously I got it back in. Not sure how but whewwww that's a pain. Got the fuel line and primer lines back on, tightened everything back up. Got a fuel drip somewhere but she fired up! However, it won't stay running with the choke off 😢😢 Welp atleast I know how to replace the carb I guess!
a new belt and plug and oil they will be back to normal and the carburator. i service my own TORO. so very easy and basic. if you do the maint. all will be good alot of years of good service ahead.
Solid machines! Thanks for watching!
Nice video learning a lot can j tell me spark plug number and lik to amazon so I can order thanks
Here is a link for the spark plug. Thanks for watching! amzn.to/3R3Ojbf
Very well done video.
Thanks for watching!
Any idea the diameter of the fuel line you clipped? Mine needs to be replaced
You can get a fuel line and filter kit part number 136-7773 at amzn.to/48JnqQR but if I remember correctly the fuel line inside diameter size was 8mm on this one
followed the video exactly and " very important" was using the flashlight to check the fuel ports once opened and cleaned snowblower ran like new
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching!
I have an older Briggs Straton 2 cycle 3650 that is 15 years old now. It used to start on the first pull even after setting 5 months but now it will not start. I am 79 years old and my mechanical skills aren’t what the used to be. Do you know if the carburetors on Amazon are worth purchasing or should I take it somewhere to have done what you did? Or should I purchase a new one? In my area to do what you did will cost me about $125.00. For that I could put to a new one this is why I was wondering if Amazon carbs are worth purchasing. I realize most likely yo don’t like to say but I only need some guidance regardless I would never hold anything against you it’s just an opinion you would be giving. Thank You so much Sir
Hey there! Sometimes tou can get away with an Amazon carburetor but you have to make sure to clean it well. Many of them come with metal shavings in the float bowl among other things. Take apart, clean and inspect if you are going to use them for sure! Also test needle/seat for sealing
@@IndRepair - Thank You so much it measly much to me. Cheers to you sir.
Just did a video on this issue yesterday check it out!
@@IndRepair Thank You So Much Sir Cheers
do you make any adjustment to what looks like a throttle stop screw for speed
Normally we do not adjust this at all. Snowblowers run on full rpm all the time and this low RPM stop does not make any difference in something that is only ran on full RPM. If the throttle can be adjusted, screw in the adjustment screw until the desired low RPM is met when on slow
Thank you - I didn't realize it was a low stop and not high.
Thanks for watching!
If you had a choice between this model or an older powerlite ccr 3.25hp which would it be?
This model all the way
Can you tell me where you got the fuel drainage tube with the valve? with specs. I can't seem to find on usual resources.
we use just a regular 1/4" ID fuel line and shut off. Something like this amzn.to/3GqT89F but this one does not look very high quality. 3/16 ID fuel line and shut off would work just as well for this one but 1/4" is what most of the lines on snowblowers are and line on these can be stretched substantially
What cleaner was in the ultrasonic tank?
We use a 10% simple green to water solution in the cleaner
I have the same machine. I forget the oil gas mixture. Is it straight gas or do you add 2 cycle or 4 cycle oil to gas? Thanks
Yes ethanol free 4 cycle fuel
nice work!
Thanks for watching!
Where do u get caborator for this unit
119-1980 is the carburetor number, it can be bought online almost anywhere. Clean the carburetor before you install it even if you buy an OEM replacement. Thanks for watching!
What is oem part for the carburetor?
136-7931 is the carburetor part number and can be purchased at amzn.to/48saIGE
@@IndRepair did you ever try those after market carburetor with success?
I have used them and they work. That being said, both the OEM and aftermarket carburetors are not going to be good quality. I would check the float bowl before installing either because of poor quality control. I will not tell you spending the additional money is going to get you anything more than the aftermarket will. Again, the quality on either of these carburetors is subpar in my opinion. It is the worst carburetor design we work on regularly. Thanks for watching!
Straight gas?
Regular gas on these...use canned or ethanol free
