Reason is that, he sang in English so maybe that's why he was talking in English. He also mentioned that he went to an International school, so when you have studied English medium your whole life, it's hard to switch to another language automatically. The language you study becomes your first language. Because your studying in English, and all their friends and teachers are speaking in English from Kengarden to gr12.
All your classmates are from various ethnicities and countries. In English medium institute when you get caught speaking in Sinhalese/Tamil, you actually get punished. Also remember, there are 3 official languages in SL. Citizens have democratic rights ro speak whatever the language they feel comfortable as long as the other understand. I don't know why Umari made a sarcastic statement?!! She seems pretty ignorant that there are people from different backgrounds (Ethnics/economical/social and religion).

He didn't need to do those added riffs and runs and his diction is awful. Lose the accent and enunciate. It was an average performance. He has the vocal capability but he was more concerned with some bogus accent than actually conveying the emotion and message of the song
