Yes,symbolism is so important. I love to wear symbols and talismans as much as possible and live within symbols in a way, like living within poetry ❤

Symbols are so very often a short hand for an intricate concept. It is quite fascinating. Fables and fairy tales from different cultures often strike me in the same manner as you described symbols. Also, the fool was wonderfully described as a symbol. And it struck me strongly because modern culture seems to refuse the reality of that specific symbol. You cannot drown in commercialism and also live only for art or truth. Certain realities are matter and anti matter that no amount of deluded cognitive dissonance allows the coexistence of. And that is one of many things the fool embodies. It might be rather fascinating if you unraveled some of the symbols you are interested in philosophically or culturally specifically in terms of today.

Your videos are so cool and informative. There is such an artist vibe and I’m inspired. I’ve been interested in this book and now I’ve got to get my hands on it because I create artworks and I am trying to incorporate Carl Jung’s psychology. Thanks for sharing your insights.🙂🌻

I am Russian and I never heard about not brushing your hair before exams, however, not washing your hair before the exam is definitely true. If you wash your hair before the exam you may wash out everything you learned. 🙂

When I was little, I was drawn to those stories that include a katabasis. Also firebirds (the ballet, but also the animation, somewhat symbolically connects with some songs and poems I like now, which I just put together).
Pearls are a happier symbol, I associate them with women and culture in my family, very pure and free childish activities and the emotion of memories attracted to them. And what kid isn’t obsessed with having a pearly shell collection??

I love this video so much, thank you for sharing.
Native Americans believed or still believe that hair like an antenna, and the way they braid and style their hair is very important and it’s connected to the mind, body and spirit.
Blindness is something such an important symbol, when I draw a character of my own creation i usually draw them blind. It’s such a beautiful thing.
I read the tarot and your could say that the tarot is the story of the fool (the soul) going thru their life/life’s experiencing life.

Oh that book looks good I just put it in my Amazon cart… I have been reading lately about the archetype of the jester / trickster / fool & what’s interesting to me is in the old days the jester had immunity to say whatever they wanted about the king, or the government, etc., under the guise of being just a fool. They were able to get away with speaking the truth when others couldn’t. Just something that’s interesting to me.

That is really fascinating. No one listens to wisdom from a fool either.
A wise aesthete once said that the value of an idea is not reliant on the person who has the idea. I feel that's pertinent here.

I thought it was going to be a book of drawn symbols, like crosses, infinity, triscele, etc and when you said hair I was trying to imagine what the symbol for hair could be 😅 So interesting

speaking of pearls, i recently learned that there’s evidence of pearl fish - who help oysters stop any unwanted debris from getting inside - being encased inside oysters and coated with pearlescent nacre. i just thought that was so lovely and poetic: helping to keep an oyster alive all your life and in exchange you become one with it - your corpse becoming mother of pearl. in my thesis i wrote about the symbolism of mermaids and the femininity of the sea, and i definitely went back and forth through this book a lot! very much enjoyed the ones you picked out

Love a symbols dictionary 💜 as a child I would always read two books from my parents collection: this one, and a huge catalogue of surrealist art. I wonder if a personality portrait can be made out of one's favourite symbols 🤔 mine would be the snake and the mirror I think

Cutting your hair used to be forbidden long ago in west african society. It was believed that it upset the the goddesses Oshùn and Yemaya who deemed hair to be sacred and part of a woman's identity in the Yoruba religion. So a woman cutting her hair was seen as someone abandoning her grace, identity and even her social standing in society. Funny how things have changed so much because hair cutting in Africa is more popular than ever before, especially for women who often go for a TWA hairstyle.

Your coat reminds me of one of my favorite symbols: the color red. It naturally evokes such strong, automatic reactions from people and is so visually stimulating that I have trouble thinking of another symbol that rivals its eye-catching quality.☺️🥀

How many are "blind" in this post modern society. Many look...but do not see.
