does anyone notice that Korra only sees the bad things that she has caused, and completely forgets about all the good that she has done? People say she is arrogant but she is weakened by grief and is full of so much shame and guilt when in reality she has done so much for the world and gone through so much.
A lot of the times,,we see the worst in ourselves. We see our biggest flaws, and don't see the good we do. Especially those with depression (like what Korra has, and has had throughout the entire show even).
The reason they did the "clip show" episode, Is because of budget for animation, if they didn't do that episode they would've had to fire half of the animation team if I'm not wrong.
I find it so cute and funny how in season 1 when Mako asked to get hot water for tea for Korra, Asami said “you’re a fire bender. Boil it yourself”. Yet in this episode Asami brings Korra some tea “figuring she might be cold”. Korra is a fire bender and was raised in the South Pole. Home girl is looking for an excuse to talk to Korra👀😂
lol facts but me personally im not complaining i dont know why so many people hate korrasami and since it happened everyone thinks she is lesbian when the writers said she was bi and she also dated mako so i get confused when people say things like that
@@davemathews2644 I am a huge shipper and while I enjoy the ship, it is not my favorite and not at fault to the ship itself at all. Since the creators were not able to put much attention into because of the network a lot of people thought it come out of nowhere. There were hints, but honestly, it did feel rushed. I love the ship when it comes to the fandom and great fanfics, but I honestly feel like the ship in this show are not usually the best parts of it. The ships work better with the community than the show itself.

I thought that too initially, but then I realized that their ending isn't like most couples at the end of a show-- there isn't some big declaration of love, they aren't becoming girlfriends. They're two young adults who are realizing they're into each other and would like to see where it goes. I honestly think you don't need TOO much development for that. If they'd all of a sudden professed their undying love for each other then I'd totally be with you about it being too rushed, but I actually think (given the circumstances with the studio), that it's kinda cool to see an ending where two characters are just like, "hey, I like you, let's go on a date." Edit: not to discredit any fan head canons that depict them as having been in love the entire time, but those I'd imagine also add way more romantic interactions to their relationship throughout the show's course.
The best thing is that Asami probably knows that Korra can warm herself up by firebending at least, so the whole "I brought you some tea" was another pick up line and I love it

Airbenders basically adapt themselves to the temperature of the ambience around their bodies, thus keeping warm, or rather not feeling the effects of temperature. Firebenders heat the ambience around them, relying to the heat produced by their element. They have a disadvantage over airbenders... they can heat if its cold, but they can't cool down if its really hot.
Mako´s story: I´ve made mistakes, but I learned from them, also my friends are amazing Korra´s story: I´m the Avatar, and I´ve gotta deal with it, It´s not going to be easy, but I have people always by my side and that´s what matter Bolin´s and Varrick´s story: AND HERE COMES THE GIANT BOLIN!!!!!
The phone call scene with the villans is still one of the funniest moments in the show for me. I love how even the show knows that unalaq is the worst villan 😂
Probably because Bryke weren't happy with how book 2 turned out and Mike pretty much admitted that Unalaq is basically just a less complex version of Tarrlok.
Honestly Unalaq is not the worst villain, you know why becose TLOK villains are all great. And to me Unalaq is better villain than Zaheer and Kuvira, I just like him more.
Honestly they did an amazing job considering their resources at the time. They refused to get rid of the people working on Korra, so they had to make this. Well done.
I didn't know about the staff thing, but I like to think about this as the Ember Island play parallel. They are just doing meta things, being self-aware, and laughing about themselves.
Besides the obvious fact that I love the show, another reason why I'm praying we get more Korra content with the new Avatar Studios is because Nickelodeon really made the production incredibly difficult for everyone involved. From them not wanting the main character to be a woman, to the "well, make one more season now", to budget cuts that affected the storytelling, and more... like, man LoK deserved better treatment PS: totally unrelated and superficial comment but Korra looks so beautiful this episode (I mean, always, but especially here 😍)
Spoilers, mostly at the halfway mark: If you want to read idk, Absolutely, honestly i think i like LOK more than ATLA it could just be personal opinion but its obvious Korra developed so much more throughout the series than Aang and i love when characters start out cocky and annoying and then by time learn because it just shows a lot and this may not be true but i think Korra is more powerful than Aang in fighting aspect of course for one she is jacked second she spend most of her life training while hiding away and Aang was pulled to battle last second so it makes sense he had to learn how to master all elements in a short period of time but in the first episode when Korra was a child she had already mastered 3 elements making her stronger physically but Aang beats her spiritually even though Korra grows a lot Aang was way more mature for sure nobody can really tell who is better because each one as its own strengths and weaknesses just one more thing people who say Korra cant defeat anyone without help of her team plz shut up first season she basically beat Amon herself when airbending but Unalak killed him so its confusing but second season people say Jinora helped her she really didnt Korra was still the one fighting Jinora just showed Korra where Vaatu was so she could get it out the third season she did have assistance but for you saying shes weak she was fighting poison and a powerful airbender at the same time and she still beat Zaheer yes the airbenders helped all they did was pull Zaheer away from Korra so she wouldnt get suffocated because Korra was in a pickle which Aang would not be any different especially since he is a child poison in children is much more dangerous because they have undeveloped immune systems for the last season Korra did everything herself she beat Kuvira in the best way possible which is another thing people complain about is that Korra doesn't resort to peace she just fights she saved Kuvira from the laser and had a heart to heart about how they were alike even though Kuvira denied it she gave in and accepted defeat and decided to make it right and even then Korra discovered a spirit portal in the middle of republic city which is huge honestly Korra did so much more than Aang all Aang did was defeat Ozai which was a lot but it it was only one Villain most seasons where him just learning to bend and fighting little bad guys along the way which is something Korra did as well besides beating 4 enemies lol im sorry this took a lot but whoever reads through this whole thing congrats and thank you for listening to my OPINIONS remember that these are opinions i cant actually say full facts on who is better.
I liked it because they did a good job with the "reflecting on the past" aspect of it. You can tell Mako has matured from his relationships with the girls and Korra's part shows how the past is how you perceive it to be. Korra only saw negative while Asami and Tenzin saw positive. And Varrick and Bolin were hilarious in their part.
@@regularguy8110 not to mention she’s a fire bender AND an airbender, AND GREW UP AT THE SOUTH POLE. Meaning that even if she WERE cold, she would be able to warm herself up. Asami honestly probably had been kinda staring for awhile trying to think about how to ask why Korra looked so upset and needed an excuse, but like also she’s from the fire nation, which takes a LOT of influence from Chinese culture so she probably kinda knows what she’s doing Also, side note. Remember how Mako asked for more hot water for tea and Asami mentioned he was a firebender and to boil it himself when she was arguing with him, which was mentioned in the previous scene? Yeah. That means this is probably a conscious decision.

TLOK over arching narrative is so complex it's what makes the show so damn good. Some ATLA fans refuse to acknowledge Korra on the story telling alone, like sometimes it's just not so cut and dry of good guy beat bad guy, good guy learn lesson.
I love how you made this a bit of a “flashback” episode of your own, cutting back to your previous reactions, clever! I was considering skipping this reaction, just because people are typically disappointed with this episode (for good reason), but you made it your own!
When I first saw this episode I didn't think to much of it, but after hearing the behind-the-scenes story I look at it a bit differently. While I still am of the mind that it's the weakest episode in LoK, I really do respect what they were able to pull of with what little they had. Plus, you just can't hate an episode where Varrick goes full Varrick

If their budget allowed it, I would have loved to see the TLOK take on an “Ember Island Players” episode, but instead of a play, perhaps one of Varrick’s movers. Like, imagine a Nuktuk style mover with cheesy actors poorly retelling the whole plot of Korra, I would have loved that! But, even if they had the budget and Nickelodeon wasn’t being awful, The Kuvira backstory episode they had planned would have been great as well!
From what I understand Nick slashed the budget and/or sped up the production schedule for Studio Mir in season 4. This was supposed to be a Kuvira backstory episode. Here's to hoping Avatar Studios doesn't get the same treatment from Nick or Viacom.
There are also comics set after the end of the show, if you want to read them when you are done with the last episode of Korra. There is "Turf Wars" divided in 3 parts and then there is "Ruins of the Empire" always divided in 3 (here it talks about Kuvira's backstory at some point)

I'm so glad you guys actually analyze and pay attention to the deeper meaning of the show. Some people are so quick to hate on and judge Korra and don't actually think about the deeper meaning and messages of the show. So much growth in this show.
Varrick’s part of the episode is the best by far in my opinion. I don’t think I’m the biggest fan of the retreads, but that final portion makes up for it by a lot. The phone call gag is hilarious, and Varrick’s over-exaggerated retelling is just gold from start to finish.
Varrick’s story might’ve been some of the best meta comedy i’ve ever seen anywhere like that feels like it should be like a robot chicken skit of the show😂😂😂
Can we just appreciate the fact that Kenny and Montana got up to 47k subs. It takes a very long time for some TH-camrs to get this many subs and you guys did it reacting to a kids show and getting thousands of views. Can't wait for the future and how you guys will excel. Normally, I unsub when I done with someone reacting to a series, but my sub us permanent because the reaction and how you can feel when a character is in pain is amazing😍😍. I love how self aware both Avatar series are, I mean in this episodes they are making jokes about the same stuff that we did. Like with the love triangle mess, or unalaq being a terrible villain. But the part with Korra's flashback there's this line that always gets me, when she says "i was so naive", there's this saddnest in the tone of her voice. Janet Varney really sold that line
I’ve always seen it as Aang’s arc was a person trying to become the Avatar and Korra as an Avatar trying to become more of a “person” per say. Total opposite growths which is why I love both of their stories so much.

i am a little sad asami never got her own pov for this. she went through a lot herself and i know its been touched on separately throughout this season but shes a part of team avatar and deserved her own flashbacks
I'm so exited about the Mcu and shera and highly recommended Steven universe, it would be easy for copyright claims and (the first season might be a little dry but it gets sooo interesting and so deep and Wayyyy more mature
Kuvira’s backstory is out there even though they didn’t use it for this episode if you’d like to find it. It’s pretty interesting and gives a deeper understanding of her relationship with the Beifong family and particularly with Su. I don’t think it really gets across in the show how close they were.
Every time I rewatch The Ultimatum and see the scene with Zaheer talking to Korra on the radio, I can't help but think of this episode and start laughing.
Idk if you know this but this was originally supposed to be kuvira’s backstory but nick thought they hadn’t screwed the creators over enough and cut the budget for book 4 so the creators either fire a part of their team or make this episode and cut corners on other things(part of the reason why Korra cut her hair)
I think you guys would really like the Korra comics. It fills in a lot of blanks they couldn’t add to the show for a variety of reasons. Ruins of the Empire gives you a lot of Kuvira info.
The editing for this episode must have been a nightmare. I just want you know how much I enjoyed the reaction flashbacks alongside the show's flashbacks. What a great and clever way to do this reaction!

This episode is no ember island players, but all things considered, they did a great job with this episode, especially with what they had.

Asami honestly probably had been kinda staring for awhile trying to think about how to ask why Korra looked so upset and needed an excuse, but like also she’s from the fire nation, which takes a LOT of influence from Chinese culture so she probably kinda knows what she’s doing
Also, side note. Remember how Mako asked for more hot water for tea and Asami mentioned he was a firebender and to boil it himself when she was arguing with him, which was mentioned in the previous scene? Yeah. That means this is probably a conscious decision.

TLOK over arching narrative is so complex it's what makes the show so damn good. Some ATLA fans refuse to acknowledge Korra on the story telling alone, like sometimes it's just not so cut and dry of good guy beat bad guy, good guy learn lesson.

When I first saw this episode I didn't think to much of it, but after hearing the behind-the-scenes story I look at it a bit differently. While I still am of the mind that it's the weakest episode in LoK, I really do respect what they were able to pull of with what little they had. Plus, you just can't hate an episode where Varrick goes full Varrick

If their budget allowed it, I would have loved to see the TLOK take on an “Ember Island Players” episode, but instead of a play, perhaps one of Varrick’s movers. Like, imagine a Nuktuk style mover with cheesy actors poorly retelling the whole plot of Korra, I would have loved that! But, even if they had the budget and Nickelodeon wasn’t being awful, The Kuvira backstory episode they had planned would have been great as well!
From what I understand Nick slashed the budget and/or sped up the production schedule for Studio Mir in season 4. This was supposed to be a Kuvira backstory episode.
Here's to hoping Avatar Studios doesn't get the same treatment from Nick or Viacom.
There are also comics set after the end of the show, if you want to read them when you are done with the last episode of Korra. There is "Turf Wars" divided in 3 parts and then there is "Ruins of the Empire" always divided in 3 (here it talks about Kuvira's backstory at some point)

I'm so glad you guys actually analyze and pay attention to the deeper meaning of the show. Some people are so quick to hate on and judge Korra and don't actually think about the deeper meaning and messages of the show. So much growth in this show.
Varrick’s part of the episode is the best by far in my opinion. I don’t think I’m the biggest fan of the retreads, but that final portion makes up for it by a lot. The phone call gag is hilarious, and Varrick’s over-exaggerated retelling is just gold from start to finish.
Varrick’s story might’ve been some of the best meta comedy i’ve ever seen anywhere like that feels like it should be like a robot chicken skit of the show😂😂😂
Can we just appreciate the fact that Kenny and Montana got up to 47k subs. It takes a very long time for some TH-camrs to get this many subs and you guys did it reacting to a kids show and getting thousands of views. Can't wait for the future and how you guys will excel. But the part with Korra's flashback there's this line that always gets me, when she says "i was so naive", there's this saddnest in the tone of her voice. Janet Varney really sold that line
I’ve always seen it as Aang’s arc was a person trying to become the Avatar and Korra as an Avatar trying to become more of a “person” per say. Total opposite growths which is why I love both of their stories so much.

i am a little sad asami never got her own pov for this. she went through a lot herself and i know its been touched on separately throughout this season but shes a part of team avatar and deserved her own flashbacks
I’m so mad about Pro-Bending practically no longer existing in LoK. It was so cool to see and really interesting to turn bending into a sport.
I'm so exited about the Mcu and shera and highly recommended Steven universe, it would be easy for copyright claims and (the first season might be a little dry but it gets sooo interesting and so deep and Wayyyy more mature

Kuvira’s backstory is out there even though they didn’t use it for this episode if you’d like to find it. It’s pretty interesting and gives a deeper understanding of her relationship with the Beifong family and particularly with Su. I don’t think it really gets across in the show how close they were.

Every time I rewatch The Ultimatum and see the scene with Zaheer talking to Korra on the radio, I can't help but think of this episode and start laughing.
Idk if you know this but this was originally supposed to be kuvira’s backstory but nick thought they hadn’t screwed the creators over enough and cut the budget for book 4 so the creators either fire a part of their team or make this episode and cut corners on other things(part of the reason why Korra cut her hair)
I recall that Nickelodeon cutted budget and the creators intended to do a Full Backstory Episode about Kuvirs
I think you guys would really like the Korra comics. It fills in a lot of blanks they couldn’t add to the show for a variety of reasons. Ruins of the Empire gives you a lot of Kuvira info.
