I'm portuguese and watching these videos makes me so happy and relaxed! I love how you mentioned how important it is to not only visit big cities like Porto and Lisboa but also other places in Portugal that have so many history and culture. I will for sure subscribe! Keep up the good work
Thank you so much for your kind words! I completely agree, there’s so much history and culture to discover beyond the big cities like Porto and Lisbon. Thank you for subscribing ;)
On 1:46 the small beach spot in 1900 was a private beach for the portuguese royal family only, is named 'Praia da Rainha' - The Queen's Beach. The Royal Family used Cascais as their summer retreat. Cascais was the Portuguese Riveira where may Royal Family came to exile because of world war( Royal Families of Luxembourg, Italy, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, France, Spain and many more).
Hello, thank you so much for your kind words! It’s been a joy to explore your beautiful country. I’d be delighted if you visit my country someday, I’m sure you’d enjoy it too❤
Thanks for another great VLog, these are very relaxing! Also it's nice to see you're enjoying the beauty of my country and respecting it. Looking forward for more videos! The sunsets are amazing on the coast, I have the privilege of seeing them often and living near the sea, it's priceless :). Many greetings
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching my vlogs!Living near the sea and witnessing those stunning sunsets must be such a blessing. Many greetings to you as well!
wow so glad you filmed in Cascais, thank you! Like you said, it is so easy to find a beach here. I am from the Cascais area and I take it from granted. I try to go see the sunset, go to the beach as much as I can, but I should still go more. One thing I do enjoy doing is going very early in the morning to the beach when it is completly empty, play "raquetes de praia" and watch all the seaguls (like 50 of them!) just chilling in the sand. During the summer I even go for a quick swim before work. Portugal really is amazing but the way you record your videos makes it even better. All the images and sounds made me feel so relaxed. You really know so many cool spots in Lisbon, I love watching your videos and recognizing them. Sometimes you even go to places that I have never been before and I am portuguese! I really appreciate how much you enjoy our culture.
Thank you for your message. Your beachside life sounds very cozy and wonderful...the beaches in the early morning must be nice as well. And I am so glad you found my vlogs relaxed :)
I discoverd your vlogs yesterday and was so chill and calm. I like the way you are exploring the beauties of Portugal and because of your vlogs i learned new plces to eat and visit in lisbon. Also it's my goal to every year to traveling in new places in Portugal for having a rich nature, food , arquiteture etc. I can't wait to see more of your vlogs ^^
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m really happy to hear that you found my vlogs relaxing and that they introduced you to new places in Lisbon!! I’ll do my best to keep sharing more content you’ll love ;)
Every now and then I visit the pleasant town of Cascais for a walk. It's so close to Lisbon, either by car or public transportation, like through the mythical Cascais railway line as you experienced... Coffee is indeed deep into our culture, with coffee shops / lounges pretty much everywhere like you've realised by now. On a side note, I'm also a coffee lover and really enjoy using a French press at home.
Thanks! It’s amazing how coffee is such an integral part of your culture, and I can definitely see why with so many cafes around. I’m also a coffee lover, and using a French press at home is one of my favorite ways to enjoy it too :)
Enjoying watching your vlogs. I like the vibe of your vlogs: relaxed, quite, musing, contemplative. Hope to bump into you someday, as I am also a new Lisbon resident.
Cascais is also very beautiful at this time of year, the advantage is that there are not many people on the streets because it is winter. I don't know if you know Gerês, for those who like walking through nature it is very beautiful.
Thank you for the recommendation. I don't know much about Gerês but just googled it now., its natural beauty and trails sound incredible..! now on my list to visit ;)
The Cascais/Estoril zone really is amazing! I've live here my entire life and can never get tired of it! It brings me so much joy seeing other people visiting and enjoying it! I see you went to the "Paredão de Cascais"! its the walkway that connects all the beaches between Cascais and São João, its such a nice place I enjoy it a lot~ One thing that might be a bit unusual that I really enjoy, is when its raining or even storming, its a totally different view of the coast, the wind blowing, the waves clashing, its chaotic but i find it really relaxing! Not sure if its really worth the trip though, with all the rain and wind and everything xD
Thank you! Cascais and Estoril is indeed a fantastic area, and it must be incredible to have lived there your whole life...Your description of the coast during storms is fascinating, it sounds like something worth seeing at least once :)
I discovered your vlogs now and I can already see the portuguese air in your face, you seem a bit more smiley in this vídeo!! I hope you have the relaxed life you desire here and be happy. Thank you for portrating Portugal and portuguese way of living so well :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad to hear that you noticed a bit more of a smile, it must be the charm of Portugal! 😊 I truly appreciate your support and hope to keep sharing more about this beautiful country and its way of life!
Vais gostar! 😘
Thank you so much for your kind words. I have visited Óbidos and Caldas da Rainha, it was so beautiful!! I am also planning to visit Nazaré. Thank you for the recommendation! 😊
amazing vlogs! Tempura in fact its from Portuguese origins but it was not used in the beggining to coat and frie fish it comes from "temperar" wish mean seasoning. The original "recepie" comes from "Peixinhos da Horta" which is weird because Peixinhos means little fishes, but in fact, they are only green beans fried in tempura... (; Hope you're enjoying Portugal, our culture and make many friend here (;
Thank you! I had no idea it originated from "Peixinhos da Horta" and that it initially referred to fried green beans. It's amazing how food traditions evolve and travel across cultures. Portugal's rich history and influence are truly impressive ;)
I couldn't make it to the beaches bc it was winter, but I’ve always wanted to see the striped houses at Costa Nova and the iconic lighthouse at Praia da Barra!! Thank you for the lovely reminder,it’s truly precious! ;)
It is funny that things that for us are normal and that we never thought of, you noticed. Drinking coffes in caffes or parks is one of them. Where do Japanese take their coffe, do you drink coffe in Japan?
Not so easy as in Portugal...!
Thank you! Parks in Japan don’t usually have cafes, so parks in Portugal are very convenient. (In Japan, only very large parks occasionally have expensive chain cafes like Starbucks.) Cultural differences are fascinating ;)
I absolutely love the vibe of your videos and hearing you speaking Japanese. May I ask if you have any relation with Korea? As your channel name is called lastnamja and that means last man. :)

That’s such a fascinating piece of history! I had no idea that Praia da Rainha had such a royal connection. Thanks for sharing this! 😊
I loved the “carapauzinhos”!!
😊😊
I love it too! carapauzinhos, such a delicious treat! 😊
@ when the summer is near, you have another treat, but with little sardines. It is called “petinga”. ☺️☺️

Sou Brasileira, mas moro em Portugal também. Vivo em Alcobaça. Esse lugar é calmo e aconchegante. ❤
That sounds wonderful! Alcobaça must be such a peaceful place to live. I hope you’re enjoying your time there :)
@lastnamja Yes, Alcobaça is very good to live in. Very peaceful. Everything I like. I have lived in Alcobaça for 2 and a half years.

Thank you for the explanation! I love learning the local names-'Jaquinzinhos' sounds so unique. They were delicious!
