Solid review as always, really highlights a lot of areas one might not commonly consider with a vehicle. It's nice to have something "different" for a change.
High saddle and water and can carry logs too and great for those huge trailers in the game. I noticed only in the worst possible paths in North Carolina where i am now i have to use diff lock but mostly with AWD is enough. It's a great truck and i am finally leaving most russian trucks except FEMM that is too good to waste.😅
I've always wanted an 8x8 Heavy truck with some dependable power and this truck was it. The ZiKZ 605R will forever be king in Snowrunner but the 15C, or as I call him the Bruce Campbell, feels like a worthy American rival. The switchable Diff. Lock, I think, is meant to compensated for the relentless torque it has. SD1one did a pull test with 15C and 605R and the 15C pulled to the peak of the hill. The simple philosophy I've given this game is, what are you looking for and what are you willing to sacrifice.
Indeed the Derry has the most torque in the game and you’re also right it isn’t the zikz still. I talk to SD1One quite a lot about things like this. Even with 20k more torque than the zikz, the Derrys power to weight is still lower. I believe why the Derry beat the zikz is due to the 125% bonus from high gear to torque being at the top of high gear. I believe that’s the reason because the bonus gave it that much more power to survive that pull. It was pretty impressive, but low gear still feels bad imho which I was hoping it would be its best gear
I've used it a lot already and its basically an American Azov 64131, aim in a direction, hold down W and get there. I used it on stock tires because I like the looks. Still blasted through the mountains in high gear. Haven't tried deep mud yet, but even stock tires are decent stability wise. I like it a lot with that engine. Active suspension is also great. Overall a amazing American truck, the best Derry and one I will definately rescue soon on my hard modee. Great truck review as always
Was waiting for a review on the new trucks, and you deliver. Love how that beast made it up the steep road in Chernokamensk to the town in high gear. Looking forward to using this truck myself!
Good spot on that one. It’s odd because if it was in low+ with Diff.. I think it might have had some wheels seize up. It’s very odd that it refuses to stall in high but has wheel lock ups in low. Overall I do still love this truck!

A few Honorable Mention Pros & Cons were left off the list for the sake of not nit picking and also video footage shows examples of these following honorable mentions. Two examples: (Honorable Mention Con) Not being able to tow a hitch trailer with the fire take addon. (Honorable Mention Pro) Upgraded ground clearance. The Derrys Boulder crawling with its active suspension and adjustments to its hit box have made offroad much better. There are more as well, but these were just two examples
Having driven one in person during my Uncle Sam days I can say that it is indeed a most welcome addition. Any region you visit, Don't leave home without one! 🤘😬🤘
Unstable is an understatement. Sometimes hitting movable rocks at bad angles on otherwise flat trails is enough for it to just fall over. With high semi trailers though it becomes really capable. Overall I'd rank it next to Azov 74321. One flips over a lot, the other just digs into the dirt.
Ya I have found that to be similar as well. However on stream I was testing it and without addons it held onto its balance, but I think with its weight characteristics it becomes influenced too much with addons. Like you said trailers are really nice ways to stabilize it
You did a pretty good review! Another positive with the Derry 15C-177, is semi-trailer clearance when saddle high is equipped. It sits even with the Kolob 74760, when both have active suspension raised. That's even higher than the Zikz 605r. One more positive is, it does awesome in deep mud, even in high gear with a heavy load. I think you kinda mentioned that though.
Indeed that is correct. Its a good option, I did put it in the recomendation section at the end to use the semi trailers. I didnt mention saddle clearance, or the active because I guess at this point alot of people most likely will use the sideboard bed, crane and hitch. Its a impressive truck so far
@@NProvince Oh, gotcha. I might've missed it. Lol Yeah, I love the truck overall. I agree with your review of it. I'm a big Oshkosh fan. Some of that has to do with being from Wisconsin and having awesome looking rigs. Lol
Another really awesome review of a desired truck! 💯 The diff lock...I prefer the switchable ones, AWD too. What I really like: It developed to a multi role truck. That fact impressed me a lot! Fuel consumption is great so you don't have to be afraid to do a long trip. Keep the Joy Of Snowrunner! 👍
Thanks for the review. I haven’t had a chance to unlock this truck yet, but I’m really looking forward to using it. Glad it’s easy to unlock. Taking a 8 week class at school so I don’t have much free time.
one could argue a comparison of this truck with the tatra t815 is more accurate the t815 slowly snuk into my heart and became one of, if not my favorite truck and because of its superior stability still has the edge imo
Yep, I did not mention the Tatras by name but i did mention 8x8s without a always on diff. I feel it has similar issues as the Tatra Force, but the Force is a diff lock champ in Low gear. I actually never really compared the Zikz to the Derry as on the same level truck, but did address at the end that it’s not on the same level as the Zikz :)
@@NProvince I don't currently have either truck but based off of reviews from you and others, I think the Derry longhorns could benefit from getting bigger tires, this beast of an engine, and the special and advanced special transmissions.
Nice review Nathan, as always. I just unlocked this truck on hard mode Ontario. Yet to put it through its fire-fighting paces, but it looks promising. One thing I'm disappointed about is that the special tyres that come with this truck are not very good stats-wise. It'd be nice to see some really strong mud and offroad stats on the tyres, even if I had to pay for them (rather than have them included stock). I'm starting to see what you mean about power bleeding too, and I believe many trucks in the game suffer from this. A couple that don't are the Zikz 605r and the Tuz 420, both which just plow through anything in high gear and virtually ignore deep mud and snow (especially the Tuz, which has both a unique engine AND tyres making it truly remarkable).
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. The tires would’ve been nice to have something different that was a viable option for sure. Concerning the power bleed. I really don’t know what is the deal especially having that much power. A way I’ve avoided it is high gear which will force power to all axles mostly. You won’t have diff lock engaged, but it’s a good way to travel if you’re not in a hurry then just downshift and add diffs when in thick mud. I guess I was a little surprised here because 280k torque should make this thing a difflock monster when engaged.
55" tires with a chain option is a big plus in its favor, though getting it in phase 9 means you'd be getting it long after Amur if you're playing phases in order. The tippyness could be an issue in Amur due to all the topsy turvy terrain even on the paved roads, Amur is like purpose built to flip trucks. Always on diff lock and MSHs would make it a real contender to the 605R
Would be nice to see the MSH for sure. You got a good point there about chained tires, but also Amur is very good at tipping your truck over especially NAI
@@vladvulcan I basically play like I'm travelling across the world with the goal of ending my playthrough in Michigan lol started in Taymyr, made my way across Eurasia, and have travelled down through the Rockies (Alaska and the Yukon) and now I'll be in Ontario before resuminv my journey through Maine, Tenessee, then back up to Wisconsin and across the lake to Michigan where I intend my Snowrunner journey to conclude. I've also been region locking my trucks for added immersion. Only Russian/European trucks in Eurasia and only North American trucks (and the Land Rovers) in North America
The water tank addon looks so cool and the extra lights on the sides are great for visibility during the night. Too bad the addon is essentially useless outside of the water delivery missions. It could have been great as a custom service addon with fuel and spare parts.
if you use active suspension on this truck, only use higher suspension if necessary, because it's unstable especially with heavy load on the back (even with mud tires)
I dunno if this is just me but this thing have turned into an absolute glass jaw of a truck. Like almost every time it just lightly taps a rock, chunk of debris or a concrete slab the whole suspension has a chance to just instantly explode along with the tire that touched the object. No other truck have ever felt THIS fragile, like what the heck is going on?? Have you noticed anything similar?
I'm glad your number 1 cons for this truck is about stability. So I'm not doing things wrong here. That's my main concern with this truck. I'm trying to use it right now in DON and it keeps rolling upside down, also breaking the front wheels and axles, even when going very slow upon an obstacle. That's very frustrating for this kind of truck in my opinion. And I'm seriously thinking about dumping it to buy a new, more capable truck. And also the power bleed off in low gear with diff lock on (almost like a P12 sometimes). A shame in my opinion.
So the severity of downsides really arent orchestrated in highest to lowest order, but I felt this one needed addressed because it does look stable, and it can be in areas, but its just so ridged and its weight characteristics arent as good as the Russian counterparts. The power bleed isnt really the same as the P12. The P12 flat out just doesnt have enough power. This thing is the King of Power, but somehow its not tapping into it.. Very very odd, but I still believe this is an S tier truck. Every truck has some issues for sure.
@@NProvince indeed. I agree the P12 is a bad example. For the rest I can cope with almost all downside, but the tippy behaviour really turns me mad. Yesterday in Don, three times in a row, rolling down a slope, or through a muddy turn, the nose starts to sink, stopping brutally, aft is raising and boom, it's lying on it's side. I really drive with care, but nothing helps. At one moment this titan must fall. At least, I've found a permanent role for my Zikz 605 : assist truck for the Derryl special, because for now I still want to use it despite all it's flaws, don't really know why though.
@@NProvince Hello Nathan, finally I've changed my mind about this one. It has some flaws (like all the trucks), but like the Derry Longhorn 3194, I've managed to know it better after many uses. And like the Derry, I think it's a very cool truck (Derry 3194 is my fav truck). So, despite I had mixed feeling, I will keep it in my fleet, no doubt.
I find this truck to be VERY stable. Good offroad capability but a problem is that when traversing trails you have wheelspin on the back tires (without diff lock) Still, I enjoy this monster. It plows through swamps, and a special thing about it is that it can become a submarine. Wish it had van body addon.
I definitely like it alot! Honestly, only things that need to change is swap the always AWD & switchable diff, and add maybe 1-1.2 point to mud traction on its special tires and it'd be a perfect contender to the 605.
@@NProvince Hey Nathan, I've been playing with the AGL modded Derry 15C in Taymyr the past few days now and it's seriously what the vanilla shoulda been! Has all the vanilla options to choose from, plus the usual OP ones. I've set mine up with the top vanilla options for performance, except I'm using the buffed 55" Derry tires and a raised suspension and that thing is a friggin beast man! It's not OP at all IMO, but it's definitely improved in the right areas. You should honestly give it a try. I think you'll actually like this mod alot.
Thats what it feels like.. Or the power to weight is too low to drive all axles with diff, but high gear almost never stalls so its kinda confusing. Hoping for a fix
i like the derrys range and versatility but i hate any truck that has that weird issue where the tire under load going uphill just doesn't spin. like the p12 and the k7m. love both of them on flat ground but hate the lack of power under load uphill
It is rather frustrating for sure. However I think high gear is phenomenal in this truck especially with the 25% buff to torque at max speed in high gear. I believe it’s just so heavy that it’s power to weight is lower than it should be
What do you think of the future of the "Runner" games? I think it's unlikely we get a year 4 and it's surprising we got a year 3. Do you think they'll give us another game in a few years or just continue to support this game with even more year passes of content or take a step back from the series in general
To be honest, I’m not sure what they are gonna do. That is a really good question though. I didn’t expect a year 3, but here we are. I wouldn’t be surprised if they announced a year 4
They need to seriously take a look at this and the kenworth because there is no way the torque numbers from the files actually get applied properly. Both the derry and the kenworth just lock up on hills, no Russian truck with the 530T does that...
Its either they should mess with the responsiveness or something. I dunno how the Kolobs dont have many issues with them being similar power to weight as well
605R has better tire with? I haven't driven it in a minute but it only has it's default mud tires rights, and I could swore those were narrow tires wasn't they?
@@NProvince That's weird. The 605R appearance wise are kinda like the Tatra 813 default tire, they don't look like they have a weird tire. 605R doesn't even feel like it's on a wide tire with the way it punches though mud. That width makes sense for the DMHS II and III, but again that's really weird coding for the DMHS I as they actually do look like a wide tire.
Ya the thing is.. Sadly the coding compared to the visuals dont line up like i wish they did. That 1.00 coding on the Zikz really gives it a even bigger leg up on heavy trucks. I think it punches through mud becasue its Power to weight is in a good spot, its collision model is as well and those wide tire coupled with vehicle weight just work nicely. Its just odd. I wish the DMHS had some sort of different coding, but as the files suggest they all follow the same template as the MHS1
@@NProvince What they should done was use the MHS I model for DMHS II & III, and MSH II model for DMHS I. Well what they really should done was gibe the DMSH custom states. But if they was on a time crunch and trying rush it, DMSH I should used MHS II stats.
@@jean-francoisdussault1510I think you’re commenting on the wrong video. The king is the 605R imho. I named it the usurper when I came out. This video you’re commenting on is the Derry special. The former king; I’m not sure. Most say the former king was the Tayga 6436 prior to the 605R coming into the equation
I haven't tried it by myself yet, but would it be an idea to keep the stock engine in? Because it has "only" 200k torque, maybe the single tire wheel spin won't be so bad.
I think I’d rather just have more power to drive low gear effectively. 8x8 trucks without always on diff tend to have this type of wheel spin if they have tons of power. My true concern is how diff lock and heavy weight sometimes locks the tires up. However, I would test your theory and see if that would help, but in most cases more power is a good choice :)
@@NProvince i just managed to get some time and test it. I had a lowboy trailer behind it with a rezvani hercules to add some weight. I had it set in H gear to have a steady pace. The stock engine is slower overall, still wheel spin on single tires. It also stopped driving sometimes, but one or two wheels kept running having me to use low gear. The 3500 engine is faster overall, didn't require the low gear and it's fuel consumption is even better than the stock engine.
I managed to get it completely immovable after dragging the final oil rig mission from Drummond Port to Damn Oil Rig station. On the sharpest hill, with fat rig on my back, it just wouldn’t move past the middle section, and the trailer wasn’t snagged on anything.
@@NProvince most part of the Azov 7's stability comes from it being so low to the ground. Once you raise the suspension, it can be tippy as well, especially with the log crane.
I flip with him twice... On ontario... Maybe it was rise The suspension? Even so.. Is much weak than zikz 605r, or even azov 73210, even step Pike from s8 seems better, why? These 3 trucks are my top 3 now, so they are Lower or equal at Fuel consumption, but better Power, faster, more adons(except american yellow mini crane), low sadle, a lot more stability, and that water adon? Well, i finish water for railstation contract and... 6400 x 2 litres of water needed, so ..deliverd with azov 64 and a semi cistern of water 3400 & New zikz A with 1800 atached to a 2200 water trailer , job done in 2 deliveries So zikz A with trailer is better than New derry... It can deliver once 1800 +2200=4000? 🤔 I don't remamber about The true values, but from my memories, IT could deliver a lot more than derry, and derry with water /fire adon it CAN NOT atached water trailer, so... Yeah... New derry feel like tatra force, hard Wide steering, poor acceleration& speed, at least is good for Fuel consumption, IT have only high sadle.. For me, categoric not The New King, not even in top 5
I definitely see what you mean. However I do think we have some good advocates that test this game and the PTS DLCs a lot. This truck woulda been in pretty bad shape if those folks didn’t call Saber on the things we talked about on this review. Does Saber heed their advice always, well.. no, but seldom we see things change for the better. I also think the last 2 Seasons have been very North American Truck friendly and scout friendly.
i did unlocked this thing and not that impressive though range is good as u say it's even better with that mod I'm using real fuel capacity based on real data it burns even on stock engine very little fuel it gets 587 L tank also i moded for myself its weight distribution and suspension and turn radius and speed,Tatra force is far better cause tire coding
Not the same downsides at all. Lots of trucks have wheels spin, not all trucks have power bleed off, and indeed in my opinion it’s off-road performance speed would be better if it had always on Diff. Wheel spin is evidence of too much power throughout and not enough weight/traction, however it’s very weighty. Here’s why these are separate.. It has wheel spin out side of low gear and then when in low gear it has axle lockup which usually never is a thing with this much power. Usually if a vehicle has tons of power you never really see axle freezes. This is why these are all on here. They break the mode of how normal trucks perform. Very odd indeed
I'm really having difficulties to understand how people actually like this truck. Sure it looks good on paper, but in reality it basically sucks. It is too slow, steers slow, clunky to drive, quite tippy, underpowered, has traction issues, do not have always on diff lock, etc. Struggles on hills, looses the momentum easily in mud with medium loads while most other 6x6 trucks on H gear fly past it. Even a white western star can do anything Derry does but much better and faster. I tried to like this truck many times, but I'm done. It's a cumbersome slog. There is no comparison with Azov 6, Azov 6 is worlds better than this sh..t.
I’ve explained the reason for some of its issues on recent videos discussing things like wheel weights holding this truck back while others gain pulling potential due to heavier tires. Odd concept, but it’s essentially how the game works. In truth if they upped its wheel weights and stability, it probably would be on of the better trucks in the game. This is the issue with saber, they give Heavy trucks addons and then nerf their abilities when it should be the opposite. I’d rather take this truck with minimal addons and amazing ability
Solid review as always, really highlights a lot of areas one might not commonly consider with a vehicle. It's nice to have something "different" for a change.

Mud traction would be good, but Its power struggle still needs to be addressed in a way imho
I like this truck a lot
I only wish it can attach log claw with long log add on
I do too. The log crane would be nice as well
Don't think the dif lock is working correctly in the code. Does not actually lock all the axles.
Thats what it feels like.. Or the power to weight is too low to drive all axles with diff, but high gear almost never stalls so its kinda confusing. Hoping for a fix
These trucks are monsters in real life
Absolutely are huge!
Damn, wish i could play season 9, but i have no money this time, neither my xbox controller 🥹🥲
Great video!
No rush, get it when you can :)
Great video Nathan, should try an update video with the new engine's. Still kinda slow in my opinion but she's a very capable machine.
This has the biggest engine in it right now and is updated. Are you talking about the 4520?
@@NProvince my bad, from my point of view I thought you had the stock engine lol.
The mirror bug on the right mirror.😂
Ya that is unfortunate
i like the derrys range and versatility but i hate any truck that has that weird issue where the tire under load going uphill just doesn't spin. like the p12 and the k7m. love both of them on flat ground but hate the lack of power under load uphill
I dunno how the Kolobs dont have many issues with them being similar power to weight as well
this is weird, but I cant see a roof rack in the customization options: was it removed in later game updates?
Check addons. They usually are there
@@NProvincefinally found, almost accidentally: they are in visuals, roof top. This is SO UNUSUAL. Maybe it's set so in the PS5 version...
good job,thx.😊
605R has better tire with? I haven't driven it in a minute but it only has it's default mud tires rights, and I could swore those were narrow tires wasn't they?
Yep, The Zikz ZHM 1 are coded at 1.00 Width, The MHS2 are .840 and MHS1 (and all DMHS ) are .650
@@NProvince That's weird.
The Usurper! OMG is that how you name the 612H?!? I always call it the Mastodon.
Nah the 605R is the Usurper. I think your commenting on the wrong video lol
@@NProvince I wasn't sure, I thought the 605R was the King? If it's the Usurper, then who's the former King?
My favoryt track is M39. Can you do review on it? I t in the base game.
I've reviewed every truck in the game. I dont think there is an M39 in SnowRunner
@@NProvince M39 is ANK MK38? Or this is different truck?
@@Сашаразное No I seee what you mean. Same
Is this the only American truck that you can put mud tires on? 🤔
No it’s not the only one, there are a handful of others as well
But here's the real question
Can it compare to the don 71?
Never LOL
Is it better than a fully upgraded azov 73210 ?
That’s a very tough question. I think because the 73210 is more steady and probably more versatile. I’m still gonna give the nod to the Azov
Not quite, bc it can't do neither medium, nor long logs with crane
@@vladvulcan I agree and i dont think it would stay on its wheels with those addons as good as the 73210 as well
@@NProvince most part of the Azov 7's stability comes from it being so low to the ground. Once you raise the suspension, it can be tippy as well, especially with the log crane.
@@vladvulcan Also true, that crane does that to alot of vehicles though
I flip with him twice... On ontario... Maybe it was rise The suspension? Even so.. Is much weak than zikz 605r, or even azov 73210, even step Pike from s8 seems better, why?
These 3 trucks are my top 3 now, so they are Lower or equal at Fuel consumption, but better Power, faster, more adons(except american yellow mini crane), low sadle, a lot more stability, and that water adon?
Well, i finish water for railstation contract and... 6400 x 2 litres of water needed, so ..deliverd with azov 64 and a semi cistern of water 3400 & New zikz A with 1800 atached to a 2200 water trailer , job done in 2 deliveries
So zikz A with trailer is better than New derry...
I believe the video wil kinda explain your questions you asked here. :)
Not even sure why they include North America the way they handicap the trucks and tires.
Finally!
It feels abit stiff, bouncy and not that impressive turning circle. Still its great fun truck and to me that is what matters
Still a great truck, I definitely agree.
Wouldn't be a Derry if it didn't have power bleed off lol
i did unlocked this thing and not that impressive though range is good as u say it's even better with that mod I'm using real fuel capacity based on real data it burns even on stock engine very little fuel it gets 587 L tank also i moded for myself its weight distribution and suspension and turn radius and speed,Tatra force is far better cause tire coding
cheater
@@vladvulcan what i did only little tho all trucks have moded fuel capacity based on real truck stats
So basicaly the con list is only 3 things not 6 as the last 3 are all the same realy
Upside #9: it was was made for 18 year olds in mind
?
