Well said, I watched the movie when it first came out and since I grew up playing Hockey it hit home with me. I also understood the gravity of what those young guys achieved. I watched the movie with my Son and he liked it and I had to keep emphasizing just how amazing this truly was given the odds against the US team.

Herb Brooks was on that team. .He took a team photo and was cut after. he is still in the team photo but cut atthe start of the tournamount. sent him home were his Dad told him in 1960 after the gold win was "they kept the right player"
1960 Herb Brooks made 1980 Miricale on ice possible.

Locker room speeches are cliche in movies, but the effect they have is real. In my JV year of football, we were terrible but in the very first game at halftime (which we were losing) our coach gave us a speech that by the end he was literally crying, telling us we were better than this.
We ended up going undefeated that year, and in then the next 2 years of varsity. That one speech transformed the entire group of guys.

Or if people will remember you being the best ever. You just need to be the best today because you can. You don't always win, but put all the energy into winning today and it will matter today. Worry about tomorrow tomorrow,

This wasn't even his best speech in this Olympics. The US still needed to beat Finland for the Gold. Down 2-1 going into the 3rd period, Brooks was steaming. He walked into the dressing room and said, "If you lose this game you will take it with you to your fucking graves." He started to walk out then stopped, turned around and added, "Your fucking graves.”.
USA scored 3 goals in the 3rd to win 4-2.

I don’t want to ruin an epic moment but this was not a miracle. Team USA deserved to win that game.

In fairness Coach Brooks taught the USA team how Europeans play hickey different from Americans/Canadians. That made all the difference in the world.

Machismo, Toxic Masculinity, Nationalism, white supremacy, ... Just horrible, this was the old Disney, before it WOKE up and confronted it's evil past.. Now, this scene would have people of color, black, Asian, Hispanic, LGBT equity, with prominent gay characters, and a Transgender player........... The NEW and Improved Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So true. It would be about separating every player down to their skin color, sexuality, and religion. Not about a team of players uniting as Team USA.
