The running video is amazing. The camera angle over the driver’s shoulder out the windshield is just spot on. Then I realize all the editing needed to combine these camera angles coherently and to the music to tell the story. Some day you will be giving a thank you speech at the award ceremony for best running video of the year for an RC 1/10 scale.
"They've done studies you know. 60% of the time, it works EVERY time." 🤣 I love my Super Rock Rey and Rock Rey, and this just looks way cooler yet. It was good of them to put an extra shock and a second smaller sway bar on the rear, they need it. Great running shots! It's always a lot of fun seeing the suspension cycle on these rigs. 😁 A better servo and some shock tuning make a big difference in how it drives, for sure. You can get a lot of the roll out of them with some oil changes and spring adjustments. Different tires and foams go a long way too. I can't wait for ours to show up at the shop!!!
Dude your running video was amazing. They should pay you for doing that product such justice. One guy in the comments said he just ordered his and I'm sure it was your excellent videography that sold the man on the purchase

Love the edit at the end, especially since Losi/HH didn't make a video themselves😊👍🏻 Btw I think the truck is 3s rated instead of 4s although the ESC can take it, the motor will have some overheating issues I think. It's a shame that the motor isn't lower KV, since 4s would have really benefited this truck.. especially with how big it is :D
What a GREAT looking rig! With that said, here's to hoping that Horizon has went back to the drawing board with their differentials, or at least improved the specs for them. Hate to see this truck suffer from the same crappy diff reliability as the Lasernut... Does look a bit top heavy for the power and speed. Then again, so is my Bomber and yet with a little suspension tuning I can now blast it pretty hard without a rollover. Of course, there's also Horizon's marketing this sorta as a basher when it's styled like a rock racer... Rollover issues can also be aided quite a bit by an adjustment in driving style and resisting the urge to drive it like you would a Kraton... Or, in scale terms, drive it like you do a real high CG off-road rig; easy on the cornering speeds in high traction environments. Still gotta say, I do love the look! Looking forward to more long term reviews to see how those diffs hold up. I really wanted to love the Lasernut. But nope. Axles and diffs spoiled the fun... :-(
Hey Michael, glad you love the look and sorry the Lasernut issues we had spoiled the fun. We do admit that the original batch of Lasernut's where not properly shimmed and the axle pin slot was cut too deep that cause a thin spot around the ball. Hopefully you emailed our product support and got the appropriate parts and instructions. I can also confirm that for the Hammer Rey we did go to a bigger pinion bearing as well as made the shimming a crucial QC check during production. We hope over time we can regain your loyalty.

Re: traction roll, I have a Baja Rey and find I have to accelerate through the corners to avoid it flipping. Takes a bit to get used to but seems to make it more manageable.
Losi should hire you to film their promo videos. I saw theirs a few days ago and thought "that's kind of cool, but not what I'm looking for." I just watched your running footage and my reaction was "I want that right now!"
I definitely like your and Greg's take on reviews, good honest feed back about how it worked for you. Also you really crush the filming it while driving it part, even if the vehicle performs less than stellar you still make it look good.
It's an awesome looking car, but is it that different under the skin from the Axial Yeti (electronics allowing)!! IFS, training arm rear, rock racer body? I still love the way it looks, and the licenced body is great. Looks awesome in the run video, too. Nice job. 😎👍🏻

Wow! This was a great review! Really love the details of the Hammer Rey that Losi covered. You covered what we should know very well too! This seems to perform as well as many of the real rock hammer trucks actually do, with the exception of lacking a bit in the Torque dept. these trucks, if you watch them in real life are not the best handlers at fast speeds in the turns. This seemed to portray the handling of full scale bouncers pretty well. Really like this channel! Subbing now!😎🤘🏽🏁🙌🏼💯
If the aftermarket will get on board with developing a solution for twisting the front plastic sliders I would get one, my rock rey on 3s would twist them on every other run and didn't want baja rey dog bones that limited travel

It definitely looks good and if this was built by traxxas or axial I'd buy one but since its built by losi I'm gonna pass on it. I have the rock rey and losi gave very little upgrade support. We had to wait for other manufacturers to build upgrades for it. Great review as always matt 👍

I did a bit of searching and the chassis is longer than the Baja Rey one and The Jeep it is based on is running independent front suspension on the 1-1 so yes it is correct the trailing arms do look longer not sure if they are though.

esc is rated for 4s, motor is 3s. but im sure it will take 4s for short uses.
This is correct. It's not clear in the manual, but clear on the box (that I didn't look closely enough at) that it should only be run on 3S!

I want a Ryft--> UDR scale here. Always on its roof (Ryft) or easy to keep on 4 wheels if you drive it like a 1:1 (UDR). Looks good either way though.
