That team was built around AI. A great rebounding defending team who gave AI extra shots with their rebounding. Mutumbo, Ratliff, Bell, McKie -- great defenders. But they met a better defensive rebounding team in the Lakers.
A lot of their arguments didn't have much to do with individual player ability or have little to any proof to back up what they're saying. Max's final point was using AIs cultural impact and that alone gives him the edge, what does that have to do with who is the better basketball player. Allen Iverson was an amazing volume scorer, he would score a lot and take a ton of shots similar to Westbrook. But that was about it, his defense was pretty bad due to his size (steal leaders means nothing Harden and Curry lead the league in steals) he would gamble in passing lanes a lot. He wasn't the best passer and his career in general has been slightly overrated. If it wasn't for that 1 Finals game his ENTIRE legacy would look substantially different. Iverson got 38% from the field the rest of that Laker series, following that game 1 performance he shot 10-29. Why I think Westbrook is a clear better basketball player is Westbrook makes up for his inconsistent shooting everywhere else. Iverson didn't have that ability. They asked, "Will Westbrook finish with a better carrer than AI?" when they already know The Answer is Allen Iverson.
If we are talking peaks, peak Westbrook had one of the greatest seasons ever and lets not forget, the 76ers success came from their defense. They were a top 5 defense every year, their whole style of success was built off defense not Iverson. @@bluesrockfan36 so westbrook didn't have steven adams,pg 13, and shroder? Your acting like cp3 being second to harden is bad especially since westbrook was hardens 2nd too. I'm not even sticking up for cp3 either he don't deserve a ring either. Neither does westbrook.
@@ALBO4REAL Rofl.
You say Steven Adams like he's an all-star or something. He's a below average center, it was Russ elevating his value. Go look at what he's doing in the Pelicans.
"bad especially"
Not at all. But he was mostly used as a Harden backup in the PG role with stacked minutes.
As the primary PG he never even touched a WCF.
I think both Westbrook and CP3 "deserve" a ring. Why not? Patrick McCaw has 3.
@baluga senpai I wished we'd traded PG and kept the pieces. That team with Russ would've been something.
Let me know when russell carries his team to the finals by himself and actually win a game against the lakers when they were sweeping everybody in the playoffs on the west coast
He didn’t win
@@tyler4733 read again. He won the only game that kept the Lakers from sweeping the playoffs
bro u do realize the east wasnt even nearly as good as it is today. no hate to AI but we cant undermine russ like that
@@tyler4733 well of course he didnt win he had to face a dominant shaq and they had to Double team him had Allen Iverson had another star it might've ended differently anyone who thinks like you Kendrick is a casual
He can’t even carry a team past the first round
The one thing common between Westbrook and AI is their on court mentality.
It's good to see Brodie in the same conversation with AI .
I feel like someway Stephen A. finna hate on Russ🤣🤣
Most people hate on Russ. Cowherd salivates at Russ having a bad game
He already got a finals appearance an MVP and averaged a triple double on numerous occasions
But he could get out the 1st rd being the man it's a difference
Westbrook got the better numbers but it’s not even close who the better player is. It’s Iverson easily!
Russ is a better overall player when both are at their peaks
Until Westbrook carries a team like AI we can’t even compare them.
russell literally carried a trash thunder team to the playoffs while averaging a triple double LMAO.what are u talking about
Russ can do much more as a player - AI is a cultural icon though that Russ cant surpass
Russ can’t even get out the first round when he’s the 1st option dude got eliminated in round 1 by rookie donavan Mitchell lol
Uhhhh.....check 2017 season. Playoffs. He had no squad. Would be leading the game when Russ was in and when he went out the rockets would go nuts because no one else was there at the time. Sabonis was not sabonis as he is today and Oli didn't hit his stride yet.
Russell Westbrook has hindered teams from success. He's a great athlete with a low winning IQ.
He already has passed him in longevity and averaging a triple double for 4 seasons now. Both have no championships, and are solo acts!
But ai was able to get to the f finals and be shack one game. And his teams make it past the first round more often than West.
Russ has had way more talented teams and still really didn’t accomplish more
Thats what im saying ai didnt have longevity
Vinny Brown he did ..ai had went against weak east
@@DanteGoldz arguably the weakest East of all time too
WHY WERE YOU AT COLLEGE CAMPUSES?!
Averaging a triple double for 4 years will ultimately edge Russ out
Empty stats in a soft era

There is a _lot_ more to basketball than individual offense.
@@bluesrockfan36 Yeah like being able to carry a team and lead them to the finals unlike Westbrook or Kyrie.
@@colby9945 So... AI "carried" a team that was the 1st seed in the East, with the defensive player of the year and the sixth man of the year in the roster?
What's next? Donnovan Mitchell is "carrying" the Utah Jazz?
Rofl!
Come on now.
@@bluesrockfan36 You literally sound like everybody else yes AI Carried that Sixers squad OFFENSIVELY and that's not even a debate

Most underrated player of all time!! Westbrook 👑
You always want AI on your team; you'll always gonna at least think twice whether you want Westbrook...
Westbrook is even more selfish than Iverson was. And Iverson wasn't as situationally dumb as westbrook.
Iverson is way more selfish.
He is so selfish he took shots away from Melo when he went to Denver.
Russ averages nearly double the assist of AI
@@boswindle9050 false. Iverson played with no other scorers until melo. Westbrook took shots from Kd, Harden, Melo, George (All better scorers). Not to mention the rebounds he chases. He monopolizes the ball.
This one actually tough. But AI, ask T. Lue.
Allen Iverson and Russell Westbrook are both great player's, I wish NBA analyst would stop comparing player's
Theres no point comparing them tbh. Both are all time great.
But they are similar players with similar accolades and both icons in their eras, it makes sense to compare them.
Thats what happens when you like things you compare them what lolol
I wish niggas like you would stop being soft... Its a Debate show...Its Man Talk Barbershop Talk thats what we do... Clown 🤡
Guys guys guys...
Remember that Allen Iverson never had a teammate like Allen Iverson
I think Carmelo Anthony has a say about dat
Look at Stephen A. listening to Perkins😂 - his face says it all ...............😂😂😂😂
Allen Iverson took 4 bench players to the NBA Finals as starters. Russell Westbrook went to a Finals with superstars.
Not even an argument.
1 superstar
@@mudathirumar9902 Harden and Durant. Both All Stars, multiple times. Dont know which one you are saying isn't the superstar. Both were successful with Russ, and both without Russ. That team with all 3 of them in OKC is who lost to the Heat in the Finals. 3 stars on one team. Not one.
@@bobvylan7215 Harden was not an all star in OKC
@@mudathirumar9902 6th man of the year averaging 18 off the bench in instant offense. Went to the All Star game 8 times after 2012, including 2013 once he became a starter.
But yea, in 2012 he sucked I guess. They give out 6th man of the year awards to guys who have no impact. Was it in the off season in 2012 into 2013 he became good? That's when he became a good player?
If you have to get into the semantics of what years he was an all star, to make a petty point, it shows you are bitchmade, and have no argument.
Harden was the same player in 12 as he was in 13, only difference was minutes and shots. In fact for per minute stat, his 2012 was better than 2013. Weird how that works.
Harden was a superstar and household name in 2012. Widely considered to be the reason OKC lost to Miami. He didnt produce his regular numbers. Neither did Russ. Durant was the only one who lived up to the moment.
Russ better career already! More all around game than just scoring
Fax
I mean Lebron has a more all around game than Jordan, but Jordan is still better than Lebron, right? Russell Westbrook has a more all around game than Durant, but nobody in their right mind would take Russ over KD, right?
It’s about overall TALENT, how good is the totality of what you bring to a team, not how many things can you do.
@@WinedandDined27 2 scoring titles 3 assist titles an mvp 4 triple double seasons which will never be done again is called history! Ai was an amazing. Scorer but no assist titles and not the athlete Russ is it’s just common sense really both played the hardest but russ is more and accomplished more
@@hybridbeastfitness2116 well you could also say AI accomplished more with less. Russ has almost never not played with a superstar teammate and only plays well when the team is completely catered to him. He was trash on the rockets last year until D’Antoni started catering the offense to him in the low block. He was trash this year until Scott Brooks did the same. His teams don’t make it past the first round when he’s the best player bc his play style doesn’t win, and winning has always been the most important thing, right? Iverson could’ve stat padded too, and also wouldn’t have had as much winning success as he did, just like how Russ hasn’t won as much as AI.
I’m not commenting on who I think was better, I would need to think about it more; I’m only saying your first point was wrong, and now your second point sounds pretty not-thought-out as well.
@@hybridbeastfitness2116 also, AI was a way better scorer and defender. Russ has him in assists and rebounds, but that’s it. AI was a better shooter, WAY better finisher (Russ, despite his reputation is actually one of the worst finishers of his generation), a better ball handler, a more clutch player (again, Russ is the worst clutch player of the 2010s statistically, which means he is the worst clutch player of his generation-and it’s by a lot too). I’m guessing maybe you’re pretty young, like under 25 probably, bc you’re blatantly ignoring pretty obvious things that AI crushes Russ in.
I think they’re close, but I think I’m leaning towards AI if their careers finished right now. It was a different game back then. Everybody is getting a triple double every night now with the pace of play and lack of defense. Look at the triple double numbers in the late 90s and early 2000s, there were rly hardly any bc the game didn’t allow it. Russ didn’t even start getting them until the game shifted that way and his coach and teammates literally all catered their game around getting him stats since they had PTSD from KD leaving.
I guess Carmelo Anthony isn't a super star anymore lol
If AI was 6"3 or 6"4 like Russ he would have been completely unstoppable..
If MJ was 7 foot.....
If Isaiah Thomas was 6'3...
