The drumming. Can't you hear it? I thought it would stop, but it never does. Never ever stops. Inside my head, the drumming. The constant drumming. It's everywhere. Listen, listen, listen. Here come the drums. Here come the drums.
Wow, when you listen to the whole thing and then it stops, the silence is astounding. Imagine how the Master would've felt after centuries if the drumming has stopped.
Just imagine everyday of your life you're forced to hear this all the time... there is no breaks just all the time... I can barely survive a minute of it...
Actually not. The Master's drum beat is regular and plain, while the main theme beat is harmonious. One is a straight "1-to-4" beat, while the other begins as a "2+1" beat, which seldom evolves to a more elaborate pattern. I can't explain better because I never studied music theory, just have a sharp hearing.
I know what I must do. I'm going to go out, buy an Ipod, and fill it with this. Every single bit of space on it, filled with the sound of drums. And everywhere I go, I'll always have it on, always hearing the drums. Eventually it'll get stuck in my head, so that even when the Ipod is gone, the sound is still there. The drums, always beating, always getting closer, for all of eternity.

It's like when you're driving on the highway for a long time, your eyes can get used to the pattern of the lines on the road and you could fall asleep (something to be ware of). You're ebing an overcynical spoilsport here. The Master's drumbeat stays constant, the intro's drumbeat doesn't, but that doesn't mean one isn't still obviously inspired by the other.
It's not about the fact that it's constant or not, it's the fact that the beats to the intro follow the steady four beat rhythm. A rule of four if you will
The intro does start with four beats, the first and fourth played loud while the two in the middle are ghost notes. Depends on the arrangement, but this rhythm is definitely present.
How to really feel like The Master: Using earphones, start this video and another one (preferably a music video) at the same time, with the drums at low-medium volume, and the music/other video at whatever volume you are comfortable with. Listen for a period of time, and then take out the headphones. It seemed like nothing happened, and that's when I suddenly found myself tapping my foot in an otherwise innocuous pattern. It will get stuck in your brain.
Listened to this for a bit then it was stuck in my head, not to say I know what it's like to have it for centuries but I can see why the master quickly went insane

I tried bowtie's are cool, I can kinda hear it but my brain didn't stick with that for very long at all. Making songs about trains to it kept me the happiest as of now

So I listened to it all, had no effect. I'M IMMUNE TO INSANITY!! BHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA 1A2A3A4A 1234 1234 1234 1234 1234 1234 1234...
I actually really am glad that someone did this. It gives a chance to understand The Master better. Anyone could be driven mad after hearing this every hour of every day, into eternity.
I've listed to this now for a year on repeat, I no longer have to listen to hear...there is no silence, just the drums.
1234,1234,1234,1234 every beat of my hearts
Is it bad my text tone is literally a vibration of the drums? c:
Greeeeeeeeeat now this is stuck in my head. Thanks a lot,Prime Minister!
It's very...catchy.;3
If you combine this song with " Nyan cat " , it's the vision of hell !!!
WHY DO YOU HATE PEOPLE ?
I wonder if missy still hears this. I'm guessing she does just not as intense
I think that by that point, the drums were gone.
Missy still hears it alright, she's just gotten more used to it, so the effect has subsided. Like high altitude sickness or low gravity.
It left after Rassilon brought him back to Gallifrey.
During it:
123412341234
After:
Silence has fallen.
I feel his pain. I've had ringing in my ears my entire life. Drive's me crazy sometimes too. Haha.
DEAR LORD THIS IS MADDENING
I LIKE HAVING A BEAT TO DO EVERYTHING TO, BUT THIS... THIS IS MADDENING!
did you now that the beat is actualy the beat in the beginning song?
dun dun dun dun
dun dun dun dun
dun dun dun dun
dun dun dun dun, -de
dun dun dun dun
dun dun dun dun
dun dun dun dun DOOOOWEEEEOOOOOOOOO
WEEEEEEEOOOOOOOO-OOOOO
DOO-DOOO-DOOOO-DOO
DOOOOOOOO-DED-DOOOOOOOO
You're ebing an overcynical spoilsport here. The Master's drumbeat stays constant, the intro's drumbeat doesn't, but that doesn't mean one isn't still obviously inspired by the other.
It's not about the fact that it's constant or not, it's the fact that the beats to the intro follow the steady four beat rhythm. A rule of four if you will
The intro does start with four beats, the first and fourth played loud while the two in the middle are ghost notes. Depends on the arrangement, but this rhythm is definitely present.
Miray Akilli not at all the tempo of the drum beats are wayyy different
yeah they are very similar. they are both in 3/4 time signature, which is why they sound the same.
Same. It's stuck in my head.
@@zionleach3001 imagine it being stuck in your head permanently then you living for hundreds of years with that in your head all the time, that's what the master feels like
@@gerrardjones28 Poor guy, did they explain the drumbeat in the original series.
@@zionleach3001 Well actually in the new series, I know the back story of it but I'll only tell you if you want me to cos it'd spoil the series if your watching it?
@@gerrardjones28 I'm already on the Matt Smith seasons. I know the drums was a signal from the 'Time War.' but I haven't seen the original series. I assume the Doctor and everyone else thought he was crazy.
I think the crazy thing about this is the fact that you subconsciously do it.
I find myself tapping four times without realising.
Um... it is weird if after I listened to this that I could hear the drums looping for a few days?
No it happens to me when I find a satisfying beat.😳
I'm slowly loosing my mind! Every time someone mentions Doctor Who the drumming noise comes back!
Serena Allen-Wells doctor who
I started to hear the drums say "Doctor Who" near the end...
Katrina Leonard
me too^^ and now I can't get it to stop...
I heard "Follow the Drums" after Katrina mentioned it, but I first heard, and still hear "Gallifrey Stands"
miyaissleepdeprieved Me too
I started hearing the word "Gallifrey" half way through.
Bowties at cool
Galifrey stands
Here come the drums
And
Allons-y (idk how but its there 😂)
Good god, imagine hearing this all day, every day, for your entire life. And the master is probably thousands of years old, at least! Damn!
I can never get this out of my head
Speed it up to 1.25 and you have the base to the Doctor Who intro
+L@UGHTER woahhhhhhhhhh
+L@UGHTER XDD wow
+L@UGHTER :) www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-02-10/is-the-doctor-who-theme-tune-hiding-a-secret-message
how do u speed it up?
* starts tapping it *
When you realize this is 3/4 time (the first three beats are one measure, the fourth and half rest are another)
Imagine if the drumming stopped. I think the master would cry tears of joy
Lol i did find myself briefly tapping my finger to the beat like the master did
Same
Found myself tapping to this beat today without realizing, in perfect time to the video.
Haven't seen the episodes it's featured in in months.
And there was something funky with my phone connection today.
ITS HAPPENING
I'm on my second hour. It started as drums, now most of the it's just train. train. train. train. But hard slamming kinda sounds like a heavy door, can't escape that. I tried bowtie's are cool, I can kinda hear it but my brain didn't stick with that for very long at all. Making songs about trains to it kept me the happiest as of now
Update: it now kinda sounds like a demon and I've made all kind of sentences. Starting to get to the point where it's not fun
Is it weird that I want it in my head the never ending drums I would gladly switch places with the master because he is freinds with the doctor and he getting to listen to this awsome song for all eternity
I have "Tinitus" wich i hear ringing constantly in my head , ( pretty much like hearing the Screwdriver 24/7 ) When the master died , in my head i was like " MAKE IT STOP DOCTOR , THE RINGING, MAKE IT STOP "
OMG i hear this everyday in my head!
I love this
