We had a joke at the Neurosurgeons’ expense - ‘yeah but it’s not brain surgery’…because they actually mostly do spines. (Gotta get your kicks somewhere.)
The part that is still kinked, as long as it is plastic and not metal, can be dipped in boiling water for 20-30 seconds at a time. The kink will go back to the factory condition though sometimes it takes more than one dipping. I use the technique on my nylon knitting cables when they get horked (technical term) so when I saw a slinky that looked destined for the trash I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. Shocked my friend’s kids when it worked. They think I can fix anything. Ha! For the metal ones? My dad used a wire snips to cut the kink off then filed the sharp edges with a woodworking file. They got ‘fixed’ until they were so short they were really unusable.
Oooh yeah so metal slinky’s are a no go for this method? We tried to fix one at one and the kink was tied/looped to itself once we got to the end. It frustrated us to no end. Good to know the solution was to snip it off lol
You can also hold the least tangled end and swing it in counterclockwise circles, same effect. I've saved some pretty nasty slinky tangles for my kids (and my wallet) 😄
And if it was a bowel, look for perforations. 😉 Or, at least that’s what they did at the vet’s office I worked for. I kept the bowel moist with saline.
Have you ever considered volunteering at a women’s homeless shelter or doing Fundraising for this ? I know you did it for some dv or similar via the dance competition. It’s hard to see homeless struggle and people who are well off high achievers juxtaposed on TH-cam. The homelessness crisis and related violence against women rising and women are scared to leave DV situations bc there are few alternatives that are open and safe. The reality is I know you work hard but your platform here would be well expanded to boost women less advantaged for any number of reasons. You are a good role model for girls and young women but leading some support for those less advantaged would be cool to see. You are clearly powerful and confident and can continue on that path toward gathering the folks you can on here and in your medical community. Just an idea. Good job slinky solving lol.
there's a quicker way... the part that wants to fold under itself, let it. Then reach through the middle and grab the end... then pull (somewhat gently) until it's "pulled through" itself. I figured that out when I was in high school.
Beta mom ever . Teaching her things, spreading joy in her life, building up her character and self esteem. Plus you spoil her! I didnt have a mom growing up my mom chose men and habits over having a daughter & I just think our the luckiest women to be a mom with a daughter who adores you! That's richer than all gold!
So I figured this out on my own years ago. Does that qualify me to be a surgeon! I mean I’ve been self diagnosing for years too since no one else will. 😂😂
I know kids have awesome toys these days but you should never deny the child the ability to see a slinky go down the stairs! Bias Slinky and if you don't have stairs take it to a library they always have stairs!
They definitely still make them, they're just not as popular for people with kids I think. They're WAY harder to untangle also! And if they get bent, god help you lol
1. Excellent technique. 2. YOUR ARMS!!!!!
“It’s not brain surgery!”
She would know 😂
Lol was it shade at GI surgeons?! 😂
@@seajelly2421 🤣🤣I think so!

A fellow doctor, AND mother, too. My hero! ❤
I can confirm that this works, my metal slinky has been tagged for YEARS and I finally untangled it
You can also hold the least tangled end and swing it in counterclockwise circles, same effect. I've saved some pretty nasty slinky tangles for my kids (and my wallet) 😄
Wonder if that works the other way too, for the bowel? 😂
"Run the bowel." I shall never forget this phrase. ❤
Right. 😂 now when I have to go 💩 I going to say, I'll BRB gotta go run the bowel. 😂
Thanks for not just tossing it out and buying a new one!!!!❤
Good job on the neurosurgeon thing im actually working towards hopefully being a neurosurgon or going into cardio thoracics
oh my! Thank you i was twisting the whole thing like half an hour, then this video popped up after searching for help ♥️
Doc just performed a "slinkyadomy"!
The thought that you’re bowel could get twisted up like a slinky is terrifying!!
This was the best feeling when I was able to fix them as a kid!!
Mommie, shes adorable 😊
Moms do it all ❤❤❤
You're the best. Lol. Thanks a lot for this video
GIRL. My childhood self is screaming that I didn’t learn this when I was young lmao
And if it was a bowel, look for perforations. 😉
Or, at least that’s what they did at the vet’s office I worked for. I kept the bowel moist with saline.
Love your hair!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Acting like your some professional surgeon or something 😂😂😂😂😂😂 jk
I never knew this! Blew my mind! Thank you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ love from East Texas
I do that all the time, really good trick 😊
I was the go-to cousin/sibling and friend in middle school and below when it came to untangling these things! Always used that method lmao

Genius 💯💯💯
Works great, thanks!
I believe the technical term is "unslunking a slinky" 😂 I have also heard it as "reslinkifyiny"
Your kids are so fucking cute! Like OMG I want them😂❤❤❤❤
The fact i learned this from a neurosurgeon 😂

It's the ..well worth the time for the.. "Thanks Mommy" for me❤
Best tutorial ever❤

What a woman💪
Very good ma.
You a g for real!!!!!
👏👏👏👏that was awesome
I used to fiddle a lot with my broken slinkies when i was little so I figured out how to do this. Shame I've completely forgotten.
This is also the way you frisk rope before rock climbing!
I was able to untangle a metal slinky without bending it once, and only once. 😂
Yes that’s how I always fixed it as a kid .It only takes patience
I just love how this is a video on how to fix a slinky and TH-cam has ‘from a doctor licensed in the US’ at the bottom of the video 😂
I once fixed a star shaped one for a child in Kindergarten. It took a while
I do that too 😊

If only I had seen it sooner, I threw one away last night. I have it the moment I saw it twisted
Now I wonder if my surgeon ran my bowel...
Can confirm as a mom who's fixed slinkies, (not a surgeon 😉) that does work.
So I figured this out on my own years ago. Does that qualify me to be a surgeon! I mean I’ve been self diagnosing for years too since no one else will. 😂😂
It definitely takes guts to get through medical school.
Run the slinky.😂
My brother just got a slinky yesterday, and keeps knotting it. Thank youuu
The slinky people are gonna be mad at this one! 😂
Cool tip 🎉
Now if only yarn were that easy
thank you!!!!
Today I learned I would be an expert bowel runner!
patience is a virtue😅
It’s called “untangling the phone ☎️ cord”….or was back in the 1900’s anyway. 😂
I know kids have awesome toys these days but you should never deny the child the ability to see a slinky go down the stairs!
Bias Slinky and if you don't have stairs take it to a library they always have stairs!
Good to know❤❤
so your a neorsurgen, SO THAT MEANS THAT YOU WENT TO COLLEGE FOR 14 to 16 YEARS!?!
Needs a metal one mom they don't bend and have more flex and give. Lol. Good idea tho i wouldn't of thought about it.
Yeah but if those get tangled, god help you lol
Pro tip! Ha ha😂😅
Had to learn that one years ago
"Not brain surgery"..... serious side eye 😏😏😏
So do they just not make metal slinkies anymore?? I only see plastic ones these days
They definitely still make them, they're just not as popular for people with kids I think. They're WAY harder to untangle also! And if they get bent, god help you lol
@@Crabby-Abby yeah but use a plastic slinky, then use a metal one....tell me the metal one doesn't feel like magic!!!
except that its not fixed bc it was bent to hell already so it cant be fixed
I thought everybody knew this
Where were you in the 90's 😢
Run the bowel, I learned that this week doing a colon resection as a scrub tech student lol
but it’s still bent where it was tangled :((
I learned this when I was 8... like 30 yrs ago...
Aww. Slinky kinked, that's why all messed up - Slinky busted. Get stainless steel slinky made of sprung steel. 😉
Was not aware those still existed
This would’ve been handy when I was fcking 7😭
I was just about to throw my son's away this is great thank you
😂 me as an unknowing autistic 5 yo...
Puzzles are one of my things 😅
No its Not. The rings do not have the same distance in between.
Interesting, I just throw them in the trash 😂
Yeh mom
Why the hell is my neurosurgeon running my bowel?!?? It’s not even the right part of body!!! I said headaches not hemorrhoids!
It’s not brain surgery… it’s bowel surgery
I do this for my nephew
Oh I've done that.
my slinky is metal...
same thing for phone cords
I already knew this
🤯
The slinky slinks again
never worked for me as a kid.
I will never look at a slinky the same. 🤣🤣🤣
I do this with my desk phone cord 😓😓
That's not a pro tip though. I've literally been fixing slinkies like that since I was like four
I mean, many people in this comment section didn't know it, so obviously not everyone does!
This made mine 10times worse😭😭
ONG WAIT NO I JUST FIXED IT!!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!
It’s a real game of trust the process😂
My name is BEA
