Pyrrhic victory is a victory or success that comes at the expense of great losses or costs. In business, examples of such a victory could include succeeding at a hostile takeover bid or winning a lengthy and expensive lawsuit.
Why would a hostile takeover be a Pyrrhic victory? A hostile takeover means one company completely takes over another through gaining control of the shareholders or majority of the stocks. If anything it’s a total victory with barely any losses for the one doing it, so there’s not really any expenses since they don’t lose much once the company is theirs. The lawsuit thing is right but hostile takeover doesn’t apply here
The Sopranos was pretty accurate for the 90's. I suspect a lot has changed since then, although the only thing I can say for sure is that the guys are much more low profile nowadays. Much less media coverage than the era of Gotti, or even the way Tony was portrayed in the show.
