This is kind of the philosophy you should've had this whole time, "Solving" audio or "This is the only IEM or Headphone you should get even if you're poor" was funny but just ignorant to the people who wanted and chased for answers on what the best headphone or IEM is in the headphone space. Given how flat the Sennheiser H1 measures I speculate it has some kind of EQ in that marble coffin, simply because no other electrostat has managed that FR before and that's due to phisichal limitations in the design that makes almost all stats sound the same, minus the diaphragm thickness, tension, shape; and pad cavity dimensions and seal (no seal: peak in the bass; perfect seal: no or less peak). I have the EPS950 with aftermarket handmade alcantara and leather pads and it responds pretty good to EQ: very low distortion, goes deep, goes high, dynamics to spare... They should have put an EQ in that black box too, since without EQ is just meh.

@@Sharur1 I found the reddit page with a link to the 2022 Canjam seminar. A bit of a smokey language, but he said it's all in the driver and pad design indeed.
In early 2000s there was a guy on head-fi that made clones of the Orpheus with metallized mylar from baloons or something. Stats technology is simple. Making a good sounding one takes time, but Axell said in thta seminar Sennheiser closed the R&D department. Good God. All the pro section was sold the a swiss company.

another question, do you think videophilia is easier than audiophilia?
ive noticed that in apple house sound and even your youtube channel, audio discussions are very active, and even you mentioned once that you still learn new things in audio every now and then. there is also more to sound than just measurements (i.e. frequency response)
but with video, discussions are sparse. and performance seems to be judged purely by measurements (such as ones in rtings)

I don't think driver size correlates with soundstage or tactility in the lows. The tallest sounding headphone for me was the K612 but it only had 40 mm drivers. The "tall" staging effect comes from the boosted ear gain not driver memes.
LCD-5 is better than the HD650 for sure. It seems to have less seating variation and rig to rig variation in the highs by quite some margin. No surprise then that the HD650 sounds "low-res" in the highs.

    • @Sharur1

Everybody does learn and mature and change preference over time i wont be surprised if youd be fine if you’d decrease the harman bass shelf in the coming years. Also problem with hd650 it does get so dark when pads get worn down but also becomes more smoother same is true for hd600 becomes slightly darker and smoother. Also if size does really matter then soundbars a bt speakers dont really have much sound power even if they sound correct with their FR. Theyre fine tho in smaller spaces subwoofers are the only ones driving the bass for soundbars if not most of them arent worth it.
