Lol those 2 songs in particular did not need any promotion, if you love D'angelo you know The Root is probably one of his best songs ever... Lol but otherwise the commercial songs had already done enough to put Voodoo as one of the greatest albums of all time, you cant deny that songs like How does it feel, Send it On, Left Right, Chicken Grease were all good songs...my personal favourite after The Root was Africa and Great Day in The morning, ofcoz i also loved Feel like making love and One Mo Gin... I don't get what you mean? The whole album is a celebration of love and sensuality in the vein of albums like Let's Get it On. And now that he's come back with Black Messiah I think it's pretty obvious that the image of the deflated, tortured, addiction-addled artist post-voodoo was just an exaggerated lump of conjecture from fans/media who just wondered where he went. He never fell off or hit rock bottom, I think he just got wrapped up with...life, but he still stayed devoted to the music and delivered another album eventually. I don't think he had nearly as tumultuous of a life as you're painting that he did and I certainly don't think he regrets writing any of the words on voodoo.

Greatest album all time. Been saying that since it released. This I don’t think can ever be matched. Saadiq with his Motown-esk album was VERY close. Right up there. But this was everything. He should’ve continued on this path. He coulda and shoulda been the GOAT. regardless this album alone put him up there with Green Mayfield Prince etc all the people who worked on this are also geniuses (did I spell that right I hope so, if not that really looks bad spelling genius wrong) anyway everyone involved should be praised for this album. My friends think I’m crazy. They don’t get it. They were listening to whatever generic rnb pop was playing at the time. This is the best all time. Another level. Would love to see this in better quality one day. Surely someone's got a VHS of this? Where was this first available?

That being said I love him and wish the best for him. And when he puts out another album, I'm gonna be right there listening and digesting, feeling, and analyzing that shit
