Ep.13 Lettuce Betta Tank (The Last of Strawberries) No filter, No CO2, NO ferts Nano Tank

- Kartoffel is a wild betta species called Mahachai betta. The strawberry plants hung on for much longer than expected. Towards the end, the tank’s balance broke b/c the strawberry plants were not “filtering” the water. This resulted in spread of cyanobacteria. This was the one of the reasons why I did a very big water change. I also manually removed the cyanobacteria with toothbrush and syphoned out most of it. I don’t expect the cyano to completely go away, so I might end up spot bombing it with hydrogen peroxide or maybe use “Blue-Green Slime Stain Remover”. The giant duckweed also mostly died. I removed them for the time being, and I think I’m gonna try regular duckweed in the near future.
The lettuce are doing great. Kartoffel really perked up after the lettuce spread out their roots.
* I’m still filming my tanks. I’ll try to upload more often, but these days, it’s hard to find the time for editing. This video was shot from Nov 11, 2019 to March 6, 2020. I’ll update the volcano tank next, soon. Thanks for understanding.

Why do they just stop growing? The strawberry plants seem to be liking the light/water/temperature and then after 6 months no more. You would think with 50% weekly water changes the nutrients in the water would stay pretty constant.
@@jacek5881 It seems that plant who don't live in water naturally, don't last forever in an hydroponic setup. The roots spread to much and start to rot. I am not a plant specialist though, these infos come from my ass.

Jacek strawberry are not a large plant to begin. They usually stay pretty small and low to the ground and don’t drink tons of water.

I'm always so excited for this guy's videos. I am and will always be beyond fascinated by aquariums. There's something so ethereal about it, such an art to balance so many types of creatures in one space, seeing how they interact with each other. I have so much respect for this guy for being so dedicated and caring for these wonderful creatures.

I work night shift at a hotel, and with coronavirus in the USA, nobody comes in, so i am watching nothing all night. There are no speakers on my work computer, so I was not able to watch what I normally do. I found this channel by being logged off of my normal file, I had to subscribe. This is so relaxing to watch even without music. Thank you for making these lonely nights easier.

First of all how could you understand fishes mood like when they are sleeping and are they mad or not??? You are genius!!!
You can see the fish cheeks spread.
When bettas are mad they flair, their gills spread out like that when he said Kartoffel was mad at him. And when they’re sleeping they don’t move lol
Fish, especially Kartoffel, change colors slightly depending on their mood. When Kart is asleep, he’s very dull in color, he’s a bit brighter when he’s awake, and when he’s mad he turns bright blue and red. He shows stripes when he’s stressed out, as seen in a few other videos.
Literally just spent an hour and 10min watching your betta series! It’s amazing and sooo relaxing! Thank you for sharing !
