This happened when I added CHILI RASBORA to BETTA AQUARIUM | EP4 BLACKWATER BETTA AQUARIUM

- Can Betta fish and Chili rasbora live together in a Betta community aquarium? Blackwater Betta aquarium is doing fine after the cryptocoryne melt last episode and also the cold water shock that my new Alien Betta experienced. In this episode i also added some fresh botanicals because the old botanicals are starting to decompose.

the lack of aggression may suggest that these animals are very comfortable.. your art is outstanding, educational, and inspirational. thanks
He just doesn't care about anything that happens around him. I would say he is chill...
@@IMaqua 😂
This is an exceptional tank. I love the corydoras swimming among the botanicals. Nice addition with the rasboras. Something very magical about blackwater, and I'm so pleased to see them displayed so well on your channel. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Phil.
Go big or go home. If the betta is aggressive, it will eat all those fish, otherwise you will have a very lively aquarium, it's great to see them getting along :)
Thats you always need a backup plan in case they don't get along. Thanks for watching.
You made such a wonderfully beautiful environment for them. Thank you for sharing it with us 🙏🏽💗
And thank you for watching.
Such a beautiful tank…no wonder they are all happy together!
Thanks Sharon.
You can really tell the passion you put into your work! Beautiful Aquarium! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching.
Awesome aquarium 😍, color contrast between blue alien and the red of Boraras brigittae is magic 😍.
Dark blue and chili red, the best.
My betta used to be this chill. Now he just kills everything that moves. I guess he got more territorial as he aged.
I have a Betta like yours. I never tried adding any fish with him because I know that would be a big disaster.
@IM aqua I was planning to get some ember tetras after watching one of your video, so I tried with some of the endlers I had first, but he kept chasing them around. 😪
You should try with bottom feeders first; it would be best if you add them first to the aquarium and after that you add Betta fish. I guess it is too late now because your Betta already established his territory.
Wow gorgeous. What kinds of leaves do you use in the tank?
A mix of catappa, jackfruit and pear leaves.
Props to you man... By seeing your cool vids... Thought of shooting my fish tank for TH-cam vid... Then after seeing the footages.. I was sure no one was gonna watch bcz of my mobile video quality and all hahaha... You're really pitting the work man👌👌 keep going 💯
I recorded my first 30 something videos with my mobile and people still watched them. Just go ahead....
Mr. ice cube! He is so handsome! This was exactly the very beautiful and soothing video that I needed. And I love the addition of the tiny chilies! Thank you so much for everything that you share with us!❤
You are welcome Jen.
I have a betta fish with 27 chili and phoenix rasboras in about 23.5 gallon aquarium (60cm x 40cm x 40cm) with absolutely no problems at all. I also have another one, the same size, where a betta fish peacefully coexist with 16 amber tetras. Again... no problems at all.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Cheers
That's pretty interesting. My guy went full RAGE when I added Chillis. Never seen such anger.
I thought it would calm down after a while but he tried to murder them for 2 hours straight. So I took them out and put them in a different tank.
I mean I don't understand them haha... It is stupid to say each Betta has different character but I guess it is true. Either they are mellow or they are full of rage.
😳 He tried to kill them for two hours?
Awesome topic fun to watch
Thanks for watching.
You take good care of your fish, with full bellies and a good environment to get away from each other this is the result :)
I try to do my best. Thanks for watching.
Very Nice :)
Thanks a lot.
one of the rare instances where a betta doesn't beat the living daylight out of everything around him straight away. nice!
Let's give him some time...
I’ve found Betta temperaments vary drastically between individuals when it comes to nonconspicific aggression (aggression towards fish outside of their species and/or do not look anything like them). I’ve had some that would attack anything else in the tank including snails and have had others get along well fine with other species as long as their needs of food and security were met.
Right now I have a betta with 10 harliquin rasbora, a small clown loach, 2 mystery snails and dozens of ramshorn snails and they’ve all been happy for 2 years without incident. Water parameters are 0-0-10 at the time I do a biweekly water change, and it is a heavily planted tank with floating plants, rooted plants, rhyzome plants, spiderwood, rocks and leaf litter.
This is in a 10 gallon column tank which most people would say that’s too many individuals in this tank but with the heavy planting, over filtration (while baffling flow for the betta and floating plants) and abundant clean up crew parameters have been perfect for 2 years and everyone is happy. I’ve had two similar tanks over the years with a betta with Pygmy corys and neon tetra, and one with a betta, tons of shrimp and ottos. Give the fish what they need and then it’s a roll of the dice on their personality. I’ve also had a betta try kill a bristlenose pleco twice his size and a gourami and had to split them up.
Wild form Bettas can be generally kept at the lower temperatures.
Wow, beautiful ❣️
Thanks for watching.
Amazing😍
Thanks for watching.
This system is so utterly beautiful. Love the new additions. People over-fear beta aggression.
Thanks. Regarding Betta aggression; I have a feeling it's like roulette. You never know what kind of Betta character you will get.
I ❤ this! Can you please share what you used and how you made the substrate? Also, how many gallons is this tank? Maker of tank? And most importantly, which HOB filter are you using? Thank you if you're able to provide these answers.
I was trying to decide what tank mates I would choose for my first Betta in a 14 gallon Aqueon rimless cube, and after running across this video I'm now decided on Chili Raspboras.😂🎉
There is a playlist of this aquarium and the whole series. I recommend you watch EP1 of how the aquarium was created. All the info is in the video description. HOB filter is Tidal 35. Aquarium is a custom made (optiwhite glass).
What does the Rooibos tea do? Never seen that before 🤔
I add it get darker colour after all it is black-water aquarium. Rooibos itself has low levels of tannins but I mostly use it for the colour effect. Even with all the leaves and pods on the bottom I cant get that dark look that I want.
@@IMaqua that's really interesting, thanks for the reply. Aquarium looks fantastic too 😊
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
Rooibos tea is also very healing and good for Bettas.... Any fin rot or injuries, sickness... It's good for them all around. 1 of the bettas 1 rescued was at death's door and I kept a Rooibos tea bag in the hang on back filter on his tank until he healed. Great stuff 👍🏼😊
How big is your tank i might have missed it
All the info is in the video description. Cheers
What size tank? I have a 6g
..have 5 chili raspboras, want to add five more..and maybe a plakat betta
The dimensions and volume are in the video description. 6g is too small for that many fish. Can you add them....yes. Would I do it....no. Cheers
@imaqua I have a 10 gallon tank with a male betta is a planted tank I what to at 10 chili Rasbora you think it will overstock? Beautiful tank bro
It will be OK. Chili rasbora are tiny.
I've had a Betta that killed 5 out of my 15 Chili Rasbora that I've added. :O How much is a Chili Rasbora in your country? :-?
Btw, that Betta looks awesome!
Chili rasbora are 1.5 to 3 € in Croatia (depends where you buy). Thanks for watching.
@@IMaqua haha, here in Romania is like € 1.5 :D
Keep up the good work and thank you for your videos. They are very cool. :D
That is acceptable price. Cheers Simion
@@IMaqua Here where I am a chili is about $5-6 per fish. That's why I've never had them. Too expensive for a good size school
That's a lot of money for such a small fish. And to get a really big school (because they are so tiny) you need at least 20.
I typically keeo Bettas with other fish & never really have issues at all.. unless I'm trying to do multiple Betta in one tank.. Even then, just takes time to recognize and remove the few who like to fight everything.
Thanks for sharing your experience Mike.
