So while I think this whole segment is basically a ham fisted way of doing a cinematic universe, there is a detail that I really love. When he turns into Hyde, he has a different handprint. Okay, that's a really cool detail.
More like a slightly sifferent hand, his hand can be seen growing just a little bit, changing its appearance enough to identify the owner as E. Hyde.
And noone wants Mr. Hyde out and about....
Okay this movie was garbage but i kinda liked Crowe's Hyde
It was garbage mate
Matthew DiNatale total snooze fest.. movie was utter garbage.
Garbage
Horsea Phoenix no.
This movie was bloody awesome mate! Yeah Tom cruise was a bit of a miss cast but who cares? The movie done with a spot of magic and carnage haha
Am i the only one who thinks this is the best part of the movie.
No
No it’s not just you. Russel Crowe is the best jekyll and hyde.
Its certainly better than Van Helsing
No, this is thw best part of the whole thing.
Really sad that the best part of a movie called the Mummy is a two minute scene that has nothing to do with the title character.
3:05 This scene cringed the hell out of me. That shit looked like it hurts!!
Rebel Alliance i know right, when i saw that i literally said "oh shit!"
Rebel Aliance, I agree but where was he doing that though, was it on the side where his back is or was it the ribs?
+Marvelfan 2.0 the ribs!! :((
Skateobyou, Ouch that really must hurt.
Rebel Alliance me too...
0:47 perfect representation of Hyde
“You are a younger man.”
Tom Cruise is actually older than Russel Crowe
3:04 How it feels to chew five gum.
Elijah Cedeno *stimulate your senses*
Elijah Cedeno More like 2:40

Green Whovian it's mint Gum 😂
"Dr. Jeckyl. Now might be a really good time for you to get hammy."
"That's my secret, Cruise - I'm always hammy."
Roflolmao. Ironic, and this organization in the Dark Universe is supposed to he SHIELD
Crowe actually did a good job as Hyde
His acting will always be better than Tom Cruise's.
The thing that everyone gets wrong about Jekyll and Hyde is that Hyde isn’t his own person it’s just Jekyll with a different face so he feels like he can do what he wants
No its a different person, mostly. Its a personification of the evil in jekyll’s heart let out
I know this movie got slammed, but the casting of Russel Crow as Jekyll and Hyde is perfect. But that’s just me
Yep
Too bad Tom Cruise also got cast
neither crowe nor cruise ruined this one. never watched the movie, but I already hate the pompous dialogue and camerawork. the only good line is from the book.
@@M0butu the writing directing and some of the acting was horrendous
Cruise always takes great pride in talking about how much he does on his movies
If he takes the credit, he also takes the blame
Much like Clooney did for Batman
Based on the comments, I'd say it's just you plus a couple hundred thousand other people.
jekyll/hyde has only gotten bad representations in movies and tv :/
i really loved crowe's version. feels like hyde should feel
yeah, this one wasn't too over the top like in the Van Helsing movie, this one has very obvious differences but he looks the same as he did as Jekyll and I really liked that
i think bbc once made a miniseries about jekyll and hyde which was done very nicely, too. one of those gems i found on netflix a long time ago
ooh i havent seen that one. is it on netflix?
I loved Sam Witwer's take on the character too.
I strongly suggest watching the miniseries Jekyll. James Nesbitt is magnificent as Jekyll and Hyde.
"You, are a younger man..."
Russell Crowe: Age 53
Tom Cruise: Age 55
Cruise looks younger
3:17 Does that mean the 1999 Mummy and the 2017 The Mummy exist in the same universe?
Even that little jingle is from the movie
that's what they were aiming for.
Yes these events are happening in the same universe but decades apart. In the original Mummy franchise the year is somewhere in 1930s to 1950s from the Mummy, The Mummy Returns uptill the Tomb of the Dragon Emporer.
The characters of the original Mummy franchise might as well be dead since the events of this Mummy takes place in 2017, which is more than half a century apart from Rick O'Connell's time in The Mummy.
@@testaws2612 They were in their 20s or 30s in... well the 1920s and 1930s. They could be dead between the 1980s to early 2000s
@@fritzyboi6390 are they still want to continue the universe?
I actually really like this version of the ''Jekyll/Hyde'' duality. No monster as it's most often portrayed, no gigantic destructive savage beast. Not physically at least. That's what I like about Jekyll & Hyde to begin with.
Man doesn't need to become a monster. He only has to look within.
Robert Louis Stevenson described Mr. Hyde as shorter and younger in appearance to Dr. Jekyll.
But I like this adaptation. Just enough touches to distinguish between the two of them.
“if ever I’ve seen Satan's signature upon a face, it is on that of your new friend”
Was glad they quoted the book, but was very disappointed with the movie overall
The Book of Amun-Ra at 3:17 ! This could of mean that it takes place in the same timeline as the Mummy movies with Brendan Fraser or as an Easter egg, but I'm happy either way.
End Credit Reviews No, It's just a reference.
Paleontologist is right, it was just a reference. The pinheads at Universal claimed that the 1999 mummy movies are set in the same universe as this because they know that their MCU cash gra- I mean Dark Universe is fucked.
End Credit Reviews amun ra is actually a god. amunet is his wife. so i think in all versions their is both.
Joshua Johnson What does that have to do with anything he's talking about?
This is why Tom Cruise is not Rick O'Connel, the movie is not really a reboot.
3:18 hey look a easter egg to a better mummy movie
Memories
Russell Crowe's Edward Hyde is literally just a Ray Winstone impression.
Holy shit! Good call!
"I Am Beowulf!"
TheWolfdude231 when I first saw this clip, I thought Crowe turned into Andy Serkis
2:17 I thought he was going for Ricky Gervais there.
TheWolfdude231 he pulled a raiden from metal gear. thats the ripper voice
Love how this an like 2 other representations of Hyde actually come close to the story’s version. He’s not smaller or uglier but he’s evil just as mean and brutish, and strong but not hulking.
I really like this version of Edward Hyde, he’s exactly how I pictured him
3:17 symbolic for beating their audience over the head with references
the golden book of amon ra
@@alfonsojimenez6620 now whatever they do. Don't let any O'Connell descendent read from that damn thing. Eve's reading of it was bad enough.
@@boyscouts83712 This is the Book of the living, so, it's fine. The book of the Dead you shouldn't read.
@@phillipwalling7470 thanks for the correction
I want a prequel with Mr Hyde
5K year old mummy knows what to do circuit board to get her released.
I hope they make a Jeckyll and Hyde movie with Russel Crowe. Clearly, he can play the part.
People seem to be overlooking Russell Crowe nowadays, but scenes like this one prove that he still has some World Class acting chops! 😮
1:35 "You are a younger man"
Tom Cruise is actually older than Russell Crowe :^/
But the character isn't so who cares
@@DBProductions12345-mbro you puppy videos you can't be talking
@@amarigamer1192 dont have any videos lmao
The director said its up to the audience to decide if the old mummy movies are cannon or not. He states he added the Easter eggs out of respect of the old movies, he still wants them to be remembered
3:17 I hope that means what I think it means
What is that?
Reference to a good Mummy movie LOL
Sean Morris Maybe ol man rick and Alex exist
Does it mean The return of Imhotep? Cause I really want it to!😃
Sean Morris The one with Boris Karloff?
Jekyll and Hyde is an amazing concept for a character
This was Russel Crowe after a hangover in London
2:16 best moment/line/scene in the film.
3:17 I Screamed inside the Theater when this Legendary Book Comes out...
hard to believe that guy at 0:07 would in 2 years play the 2019 villain Jafar in Aladdin
Love how this version of Hyde isn't a bulky creature or anything like that but just a pure villain radiating black energy
"You are a younger man" Tom is two years older then Russell in reality
1:34 Tom Cruise is two years older than Crowe.
russell crowe when he's drunk
If there had been a rotary phone in the room tom cruise wouldn't have made it out alive
God this scene was so awesome!
I always like when people don't go overboard with Hydes design but give him just enough touches into him he's a monster compared to Jekyll
Mr. Hyde: Am I real enough for you?
I 'm liking as Dr. J & Mr H. I hope the Universal Dark Universe series continues despite the under performing Mummy!
tag427
Unfortunately they cancelled all original plans and are starting over again, this time with the Invisible Man with Blumhouse Productions helping out.
@@tedgruver7618 when man? It's been 3 years waiting
wow this movie had the balls to include the book of life as a easter egg
I thought it was awesome when Nick puts Hyde's hand on the reader and it recognized and denied Hyde!
I like the reverse style of Mr. Jekyle's serum in this film. Doesnt let mr. Hyde out, it keeps Hyde at bay.
This was just Crowe doing a bad impression of Oliver Reed.😂
To be honest the girl who plays the mummy is still fine as hell. And Russell Crowe is always good
Without Cruise, this would've been a perfect cast.
"Oh my dear Henry Jekyll, If ever ive seen Satan’s signature on a face, It is on that of your new friend"
Its pretty fking great Mr. Hyde would quote this considering Mr. Utterson is the one that quoted this in the book referring to Mr. Hyde.. Lol
Dr. Jekyll was the best thing about this film. Kinda guilty pleasure.
1:31 taking the remote control from your older brother😂
3:14 as soon as Jenny picks up the book of the Dead and smashes it against the one guys head you can hear the soundtrack from the original Mummy and Mummy returns but it goes back to normal as soon as she drops the book
