Normally, these two guys would be at each other’s throats over their conflicting ideologies, but when push comes to shove and they have to deal with the women in their lives… they’ll set aside their differences and put together a game plan to prolong the inevitable beatings they’ll receive.
And to top it all up both did get their graves dug up.... By the womans of their life too. So being destroyed by the vampire chick and holy king is the only way to settle their score in a different fashion

This scene shows the fundamental differences in character between Shrou and Shiki Shirou an idealist is confident in this plans big chance of success and works diligently to achieve the ideal ending to save everyone however such an ideal is foolish in nature as Emiya Shirou cannot save everyone even when he tries to put the others needs before his own, putting his stamina and health through the ringer, there are some people he simply can't help but unintentionally dismiss such as Sakura who suffers from an abusive relationship with her own family members and Ilya who cannot decide between being Shirous sister or mortal enemy. Shiki on the other hand barrels through his problems without a care in the world and barely just makes it to his arrangements just shy of making his friends lose faith in him he also pushes his family away constantly as seen with Akiha who he completely forgets about ontop of always dismissing her needs in the vn and Hisui who his repeated escapdes through the night and staying way out pass his curfew puts her in a didficult situation where she could get fired. this sketch is truly a master class character study on the duality between both of Type Moons main popular heroes. atleast that's how some dumbass video essayist with an overly patronizing monotone voice and mid editing would put it.

To be fair, I'm not sure I would consider hayate no gotoku as true harem or any other anime that claims to have a harem genre but in the end the MC only chooses one girl. In FSN or Tsukihime though, there is a harem route (not all girls though).
