Inside the Iconic Avalon Coastal Retreat: Is This Glass Pavilion the Best Modern Home in Tasmania?

Major bucket list moment right here! I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have craned my neck over the years while driving through Rocky Hills (TAS), trying to catch a glimpse of Avalon Coastal Retreat! For me the property has had such a mystique about it, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary, and quite surreal.
Subtly concealed by its natural environment, Avalon sits on top of a bluff, on a cliff, overlooking Great Oyster Bay, on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia.
An architectural masterpiece constructed of steel glass and stone, the pavilion affords uninterrupted views and complete privacy for its guests.
Packed full of designer features and boasting a long list of luxury amenities and inclusions (think Japanese style Huon pine bath, private beach, selfie studio on the beach), what I wasn’t expecting, and which took the cake for being the most special element of the stay, was the hosted aspect. Such gracious, thoughtful and pre-emptive hosts. You can’t help but feel incredibly special to be at the centre of this guest experience, and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity.
