  • Today we head off to an old ghost town in Wyoming to do some relic hunting and gold panning. Once a mining town, all that remains now are a few timbers and mine shafts. Hold on to your hats because this is the windiest video ever! xoxoxoxoxo, Gin

    The box with a tab on it is a Schick single edge razor blade dispenser. And the flat piece with slots is correctly identified as part of a rubber boot latch/buckle

    You can look that Patent Number up online. I couldn't quite make it out from the video. That decanter top is very nice but may have been clear when it was made. The element manganese found within old antique glass will remain colorless as long as it does not oxidize to form manganese oxide. However, radiation from the sun will cause manganese to oxidize. Glass exposed to sunlight for a long period of time will turn purple if it contains manganese. I have an old early 1900's Straight Sided Coca-Cola bottle that was exposed to sun over a long period and it is exactly the same color as your decanter top. LOVE your videos! You're the best! Blessings!

    That metal thing that is flat and 5 punches out of it looks like a buckle from rain boots. I had a pair when I was a kid. One side had a tongue piece you put in one of those holes then you push it down to lock it. Depending on which one you choose you can make your boots tighter or looser. I hope that helps.

    @savvylifestrategies9445 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your ariel photography is excellent. It's a really cool place to be metal detecting. Congratulations on the musket balls and the three-ring bullet. Square nails were created from the late 1700s until about 1830. I think they not only help date the area but are interesting relics in themselves. Today, we take nails for granted. However, back in the 1700s, nails were precious. People would even burn down unused buildings just to get the nails. As others have stated, the box with a tab is a probably Schick single-edge razor blade dispenser, probably 1950s+. All in all, one of your best hunts.

    Hi Jenny, sorry that I am a year late, my brother Juice sent me, Juice, in who to I refer as, the Juiceman!!! recommended that we check out your channel. I am glad that I did, and I liked what I viewed, such as, I enjoyed things about our past history, like old, abandoned buildings, old, abandoned mines of all kinds and old abandoned towns plus, old battle fields for metal detecting. Basically, I think old items and old structures are cool, and there may be some interesting things to uncover when you metal detect those old places. I just hope that they are not metal detected all out! but it is the thrill of the hunt and getting out. KUDOS to your channel, I just subscribed to your channel and will view your other videos, Greg the Egg. PS, the one item I believe, that you found, if you can recall back, is an old razor blade refill suspenser for the old-time shavers.

    Nice to see that you have someone who knows how to take good video camera pictures & lets you do all the talking in your videos thats what I like to see. Some of the other guys that take metal detecting videos are not very good at it & they need to learn to move there cameras slower. I like watching your detecting videos & I always give you a thumbs up. I see you have the same detector that i just bought last month & I love the way it operates. I see you were talking to the richmond digger I know that guy hes new to detecting out here in Richmond. The drone camera work is very well done. Keep up the good work & good luck on your finds.

    The ball ammunition that includes one ball the size of buckshot suggests a civil war load called "buck and ball", which was two rounds of buckshot with one ball. American civil war was a long distance from Wyoming. Maybe Indian Wars relics.

    Hi Gin, just subscribed, found a pair of 1930s Rubber Galoshes on US eBay for sale. Nice picture of the buckles in situ. Take a look.
    We find those in the UK too. Most think they are harmonica reeds. So thanks to those who id’d them here as buckles for rubber boots/galoshes. Very useful. We pull up similar stuff here except that we also pull up stuff from hundreds or thousands of years ago if we get lucky 👍👍👍

    I think your mistery find is a single edge razor blade holder. The extended portion pushes into the razor then when you slide a new blade in it shoves the used blade out while it's still in the razor and you've just replaced the old with the new. From the looks of it, you may have one of the very first ones made. Nice job
