The Pro 4s have changed my running life. Finally a super-shoe that work for my wide over-pronating feet - I’ve run 2 marathon PBs in the past 2 weeks! Stable, comfortable and fast without being aggressive, they work for me (3:35 marathoner) and will work for a lot of other people too
Picked up the speed4 for 130 earthers, done a speed intervals session, an easy run and just away out on a long run,teally like them, absolutely love the stretchy laces, and yes,they do make you consider the pro4, not quite enough to topple the consideration im giving the EdgeParis though.
I've got the Endorphin Pro 4's having run in the Vaporfly 2's before. Harder under foot, way more stable and a little less responsive - but overall I think the Pro4 work better across a range of paces (particularly as I am targeting a sub4hr marathon - so not hitting super fast paces).

Endorphin Pro 4 felt heavy when I picked it up at the London marathon running show. The AF3 is too heavy for me, so opted for VF3 for today. Want a Metaspeed Paris but thinking Edge not Sky.

Ed nike alphafly 3 still got arch issues? Or does arch feel prominent? Im really doubting my adidas pro 3 after yesterday's run. Im going to try the saucony pro 4 today but options would be nice.
@EDDBUD ive gone for the safer option and bought the saucony pro 4 this morning. It does feel very similar to the pro 3 but mid foot definitely wider and doesn't have a cut out like the adidas pro 3. Only a long run test will give me the answers though so fingers crossed.
I ran about 50k in the alphafly 3 (proto), which included a 30k long run. Then i realised that this gonna be perfect for my marathon, it just made running fast feel a lot easier (down to my HR). I then picked up an endorphin pro 4 very cheap and used that for all my long run training sessions and it was phenomenal. I have 200k in those and the outsole is still almost perfect. Shoe still feels great too, just did my last long run of 35k in them yesterday. The HG addition really does elevate the shoe over the pro 3, and i used to love that one as well. I thought the HG addition would ruin a good thing but Saucony struck gold on this one.
They have changed the pro4 enough that I can use it..finally got more forefoot room.. changing the insole to the Saucony pro3 insoles took some of the HG foam harshness out of the forefoot cushioning..the pro series has never had enough forefoot cushioning for me, but this one I can use it for training runs..the upper is very comfortable and easy to get on quickly..really don't like having to fight a shoe to get it on..😅
When you were talking about the Speed 4, it felt similar to how I feel about the Speed 3 (vs the Speed 2 and Pro 3). On first step-in, it felt like there was a block of wood underneath the heel, and it made me wonder if that's what a stability shoe would feel like. There was a disconnect in feeling between the front and back of the shoe. I'm a forefoot striker, so the heel doesn't bother me on the run, but I've never had a running shoe feel so hard in the heel before.
I think it's apparent that Saucony has made the Speed 3 and 4 more tuned for daily training than " Speed " workouts because they are looking for a replacement for the Endorphin Shift, which appears to be discontinued. Saucony now wants you to use the Endorphin Elite as your race shoe and the Endorphin Pro as your speed workout shoe.
Speed 4 great for training but if you have carbon race shoe it just doesn't compare. Speed 4 is a fantastic running shoe though so comfy and gives enough to do Speed training.
I just used the Endo Pro4 in Boston but can’t judge if it helped because it was one of the warmest Bostons in history and there was a lot of carnage--77 runners hospitalized, 3000 seeking help in medical tents and that doesn’t included DNF’s. I did have an issue with a toe blister which is a first for me. I think I might have done better 1/2 size up (as I did with v3 though it didn’t seem necessary with this iteration) but hearing you mention the stretchy laces causing lockdown issues, that may have been the culprit, or a combination of those factors on my R foot, which is my longer foot. I may just use them now for long runs and some short races. I didn’t notice any lockdown problems on a 13 mile test run but maybe I should’ve put more pre-race miles on them.
I just ran my first half marathon in the Endorphin Pro 4 today, and I'm impressed! As a stability shoe wearer, transitioning to a super shoe was seamless with the Pro 4. It combines the comfort and rocker I'm used to from the Saucony Tempus with a more dynamic, race-ready feel. It's fun, fast, and still provides some stability (however I can definitely feel that it is no stability shoe). Highly recommend for anyone looking to try super shoes!

Its a shame what Saucony have seemingly done to the Speeds. From memory, the ES2 was the most popular speed training shoe by far, but it seems now, by intentionally differentiating it from the pro, they have allowed other brands to get a huge foot in the door of the speed trainer market.
@undeadly1103 funnily enough, I never actually owned the speed 2, I've only had the speed 3s. Just find it interesting how the market for that type of shoe has become way more competitive in recent years
I swapped out the laces on my Pro4 with a set from an old pair of VF2 and besides that no issues. I did a half M in them yesterday cushion, comfort, stability and felt like I could easily have kept going on. Not as light and fast as the Edge Paris but more protective of my legs. Don’t know if I will pickup the AF3

I would say the chance of popping a pod is as big as cracking your carbon plate in carbon plated shoes. It happens randomly and or after stepping on pebbles. Most people don't know they got a broken plate. But if you hear an annoying cracking or crunchy sound in them, chances are your plate burst. I've had it happen a few times then did an autopsy to see what's wrong. My vf3 plate got absolutely shattered 😂
@@stevegilbert1023 Tempo's had factory airpod defects like crazy. Its not the airpods themselves though that were bad, the bottom design killed the airpods and or tore the outsole itself.
Any thoughts about the insole of the ep4 being narrow? I know it’s weird, but I felt like I was stepping on the edge of the medial side of the insole heel on the ep4…which I’ve never felt on other shoes before. Scaring me off the shoe for a bit. Might got Cielo x1 instead
Just did my fastest training 1/2 marathon in the sky- Hopefully turns into a PB for Brooklyn 1/2. BTW, Passed a guy today who got a hold of the AF3 that color your are holding up and was asking myself "why" and how did he get that over here? - looked like he was a 10 minute pace but to each their own - if it helps him good for him. I do like the sky going up hills quite well though - light and legs just tick over. Btw, I am 6'1" and 12.85 stone.
If I could buy a new pair of Alphafly V1s for under £150, is paying an additional £90 for the Alphafly V3 worth it, as money is definitely an object! Target is a Marathon, I am a heavier runner, around 200lbs, I own a pair of Vaporfly V1s, and enjoy them for up to HM, but I feel I need more cushion for a full ticket marathon.
All these shoes are very good in their own right...but too pricey for me. Have to wait until they are on sale...don't need the newest and latest right now. :) For a serious runner...with some buckaroos...I can see the draw
Yeah they work for many. The Pro 2s were also very uncomfortable for me. Might put a few more miles in and see if they come to me but it’s fine - not every shoe works. Loving the Speed 4s, horses for courses eh. Keep up the good work.

First run I had issues but it’s settled down after some pounding!

Yeah it’s perhaps down to the foam like insole. Might switch it plus the laces and update you all

Drastically different temps to 2023. The more rigid laces have helped me no end on many shoes

In most race shoes they cut off the edges of the insole to make it that bit more sleek

Would say they are close to be honest. The upper fit better on the pro4
I loved the first version of the sky but the Sky plus felt like my foot was hanging off the inside of the shoe. Has put me off buying the new version.

Almost all these have a prominent arch. Maybe the insole hides it on the af3.
Still don’t understand the Boston 12. The rods mangle my feet and leave them hurting everytime. The Adizero line just don’t suit my feet at all.

For the Gym a Pegasus or the Puma velocity nitro 3 is a good bet.
