    Reminds me of a similar sort of quote I heard once.
    "There are 4 things that can make someone a villain. A wound. Blindness. Selfishness. And evil.
    A wound can make someone wish for vengeance. Retribution. But that is not evil. Pain is not evil.
    Blindness prevents someone from seeing truth, and make them follow the wrong path. Do what they do not know they've done. Trust liars. But belief is not evil.
    Selfishness is greed, the desire to harm others for your gain. But desire, are not evil.
    To receive pain and wish it back on others is to wish for everything to be fair. To be blind is the to be susceptible to being misguided. To be selfish is instinct, and can be born out of self interest, or out of love and desire for others prosperity.
    But evil. Evil is to cause pain, to blind, to be selfish. Not for yourself or for another. Not for prosperity or joy or penance. Evil is to do harm without cause or reason.
    Evil doesn't care about itself or anything else. It is just evil.
    A villain can be evil. But not all villains are evil. A villain is considered bad. Evil is neither good or bad. Because what is one's good, is another's bad. What is one's support is another's burden. One's dream, another's nightmare. Evil is not bound by these subjective beliefs. It is simply a truth of life."

    This is by far one of the best monologues I've seen in a while. It offers an insight to the character and offers a philosophy we question as he says it. I'm surprised this isn't from an actual movie because I could see this guy as the main antagonist. This definitely needs more views.

    Transcript:
    You probably have an idea of what a bad guy is from various films that you've seen, the evil laugh, the thirst for power. Maybe you've even captured a couple of sloppy criminals, and maybe you think I am one of the worst of them, right? One of the Hitlers, Stalins, one of the Ted Bundys. You want to know something about Hitler though? He bathed, excessively. A germaphobe, you know that? Does that sound evil, to you? Because it sounds to me like a crazy person trying to cleanse his country, of filthy outsiders. No hitler was just a failed art student, with phobias. Evil was never his purpose he was just a crazy man. Evil isn't crazy. Evil is just evil. Hitler lost the war, because he was an idiot. An idiot. There were at least six different tactics he could have used to win the war, instead he basically ensured his own destruction. Stalin killed people out of fear. It's not evil, that's just cowardice. He was good at killing his own people, but he had no idea, how to win a war, or execute a precise task. Even psychopathic killers like Harold Shipman, or Ted Bundy, they all have some sort of self-indulgent, manic need to exert power. That's not evil, that's just insanity. You see, you mistake germophobic, paranoid, mentally disturbed maniacs, for masters of evil. You find them scary and intimidating. True evil isn't scary. It's not. It's friendly and comforting, like a doctor administering a lethal injection. Did it ever occur to you, that despite all of your crime shows and your superhero movies, that you have no idea what you're dealing with? Why would you? You don't see a poisonous gas, you just feel your lungs burning. You don't see a bullet, you just hear a loud bang and the darkness. True evil is invisible and accurate and driven. It cannot be stopped.

    I’m writing a story of a villain that’s also in search of like “true evil” and shit. I love villains, with evil laughs, monologues, etc. I wouldn’t exactly with this character’s definition of true evil. But the point was clear and amazing! Obviously there could be improvements in this scene yada yada, but im not a film junkie 😂. Either way great video!!!

    • @acewmd.
      @acewmd. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well then let me help you, true evil is petty ad without reason, there is no greater motivation behind it there's no purpose driving it and no end goal it is born of will. the will to do what you want for no reason at all, no vengeance no hatred no justice just the pure fact that you wanted that particular bad thing to happen and so you made it.

    • @anthonydeltoro-
      @anthonydeltoro- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@acewmd. That’s a pretty good pure evil def. However, if you could answer, If you had a room full of people who had that exact same thought process equally, how would you distinguish the most evil among them? Being more than just “beyond forgiveness”. How down the “bad or evil” rabbit hole can we go?

    • @acewmd.
      @acewmd. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonydeltoro- I guess it would depend on how much their willing to do to get what they want, they can't be emotionless in it either because that's just a socio or psychopath, their want for whatever it is just has to override that feeling of regret or unwillingness.
      I guess it's like this, did you kill those men? " Yes, and not a day goes by that I don't see their faces in my nightmares." then why did you kill them." I wanted to do it"
      Evil is just pure want/motivation towards a goal sacrificing everything necessary whatever it may be, in a way it would almost be inspiring until you realize what they did. there are no reasons past want its deep down what drives anyone, sure emotions work as a justification as well but if you still know a thing is going to make you feel some way and you follow through on it not because you were forced but because your want to do it was greater. I'd call that evil. it's not sympathetic it's just kind of mustache twirly since there's no greater motivation for it and no justification past desire.
      Tl;DR The one willing to do the most even for something simple is probably the evilest one in that room they care what must be done but not in any way that would prevent them from acting towards it.

      @@acewmd. Interesting take, Appreciate it. It reminds me of that one time Marvel made Thanos make a completely random normal human’s life miserable. Just because. Honestly I 100% have thought of the “Just because” route in evil. In fact i think there may be multiple paths of evil. Here’s my little deep dive for you.
      Force of nature: This is the type of “evil” caused by just natural actions being at play. Time, Earthquakes, Tornadoes, or even in a fictional sense emotionaless gods just doing what they were “made/programed” to do.
      Insanity or more specifically irrationality: Basically doing actions that are “bad” but not being able to discern that. Or as any psychopathic argument goes on. Also in a perhaps fictional case for a robotic AI: “a glitch in the system”.
      The just because route: I mean you explained perfectly. Why is said person or thing committing evil? Just cuz.
      Calculated: Calculated or vengeful or meaningful evil. An evil goal set that the person knows it’s evil but has an inherent need or reason to do so.
      Somewhere along those lines is how I see evil is divided up. Give or take.

    • @acewmd.
      @acewmd. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@anthonydeltoro- those make a bit of sense and id say definitely fit the bill yeah, a godlike being just doing its purpose mechanically is definitely not socio/psychopathic its just natural. you hit the nail on the head there and the same applies to the A.I. example.
      Vengeance is a justification though so I'm not sure to what extent it can count as evil. it's got a deeper motivation since its getting even or more.
      Yeah, it sounds like a good definition for evil is just that it happens with no deeper meaning than goals/desires for a particular thing at whatever cost however it may affect you, its unjustifiable because its simply just how it is so there's no need to justify it. It would be like asking a rock for its reasoning on falling, we know why but the rock is incapable of caring or justifying itself.

      10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
      11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
      1 Timothy 6:10-11
      That is why 1 Timothy 6 says:
      6 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
      2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
      3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
      4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
      5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
      6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
      7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
      8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
      9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
      10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
      11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
      12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
      13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
      14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
      15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
      16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
      17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
      18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
      19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
      20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
      21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
