I've had Fi for some years now. My wife even brought her iPhone 13 over. Aside from resetting some messaging protocols once in a while early on with her phone (only when iPhone would have updates and it only takes a couple min) they have been great for us. We haven't had to update messaging in almost a year now. I will say support initially on porting the iPhone over was annoying but it was staff specific. Just hang up and call back until you get somebody that knows what the hell is going on and they'll square you away fast any time of day. I imagine they have done it enough now that it should be smooth but when they were first advertising it I don't think everybody knew what the process was. I ditched using iPhone back in 2012 and bounced around until getting the pixel/fi combo and likely wont change until google inevitably screws up a good thing like they always do
I just got done trying out the trial. Period for Google Fi. I am using an iPhone 12 promax, and in my experience, there was no tower switching, even when traveling from state to state here in the Midwest and eastern part of the United States. The entire time I was on T-Mobile’s net work. So the reason you had problems at the festival with Verizon is because everybody is on Verizon and the towers jam up. Your Google five worked because T-Mobile more than likely had mid band 5G in that area. This would mean more capacity T-Mobile also has less users on the net work and I’m sure Verizon in that area did not have any kind of 5G at all. I’ve tried T-Mobile‘s service, and while their data speeds can be very impressive. Their coverage and data speed, consistency and reliability are not great. When you’re standing outside near a tower that has mid band 5G you can get some amazing speeds, but move indoors or lose one bar of signal and your speeds drop off pretty dramatically. When you’re traveling in rural areas, you can go quite a distance with no service at all. I’d rather have slower and more consistent data speeds with coverage than nothing at all so I think I’ll stick with my AT&T that works pretty much everywhere I go even though it’s not the fastest net work out there does get the job done.
Is it true that even with the unlimited 65 dollars plan, you can only use the unlimited data for three months if abroad or the USA? If you are going to be outside of the USA traveling for more than three months, what do they do with your plan? Can you please explain?
Very nice content, but there's one small fix that will put you on a different level. Use high pass filter around 100-150Hz on your voice track. It will help to avoid all unnecessary noises. God bless you 🙏🏻 ❤️
I’m looking for international minimum plan which amazingly enough seems available on Mint while not on PCS. VZ killed me anytime I was going in Europe regardless of their BS plans! Paid $ 280.00 added for 6 weeks in Europe virtually no data and 99% under WIFI! VZ should be sued for that but we can’t as fucking lawyers 50 pages rules likely staged all that…
@@reklovjj Got Damn!!!! That's insane. The amount of money VZ charges for anything is absolutely insane. I can't bring myself to pay that kind of money. That being said I've no idea how Fi will work when going international. Hopefully we'll definitely leave a comment as an update.
I currently have a galaxy note 10 plus and on verizon play more plan and i live in nyc. My bill is about 95 after auto pay for just myself. I'm considering swithcing to google fi and curious to know would i truly enjoy my experience. I've had post paid plans all my life but I'm curious to switching over to something new for next year. I also already pay for youtube premium but now I'm dropping Spotify premium, and will mainly use youtube premium so a free year would be nice but for anyone else can vouch for an unlimited plan on google fi? Thinking of switching within the next couple of days. I would be bringing my own phone
So Fi is more reliable when it is in big crowds? No communication interference? How is the communication around the countryside or to a remote town? Which network method is Google using, satellite or towers? There are a few disadvantages to both. Satellite network is strong when you are in a big city but the signal is bad whenever there's a storm or black clouds. Towers network is good when you living in an area that is surrounded by them but the signal gets bad whenever there are maintenance, Thunderstorm, or travel to a location that don't have many of those towers.
I hope you watched the full review. As it answers most of these questions. But TLDR Fi worked and works well in my case, middle of the country, in cities and in small towns in BFE, is has tower switching. The one VERY crowded place I went to it worked perfectly. Better than Verizon by far. It had a problem in a spot in a town I visited in BFE but it was literally a room...... Hope this helps you a little
@@FoggyDigital , on the basic plan that they have, Simply Unlimited. Do they have unlimited data when it comes to multimedia? How long do you have to stay with their plan before you can cancel it? I'm interested in getting those new phone from them because it is cheaper than other carriers but usually they wanted you to stay for a certain year before you can leave.
As far as I can tell I have no data caps beside the usual we will slow you down if you use more the 20 gb per line. So each line on my plan can use up to 20 before they slow my data. No one has hit it yet
Pixel phones have the ability to switch their carriers. While others are stuck with one carrier. I wonder if switching carriers used to be called “Roaming”.
So your brother broke your phone to the point where the screen doesn't work and it's somehow Google's fault that he can't call anyone from a broken phone? Make it make sense.
Funny how when I had Verizon before I could receive picture messages. The moment I switched to Fi, I could receive texts but not picture messages and it's driving me crazy!!
I set my families 4 iPhone 13 pro maxs up with no issue what so ever.. you have a problem with the esim because you didn’t set things up correctly from the jump for the phone she had.. iPhone 11 isn’t dual sim so you need a physical sim.
You are wrong, my daughters phone has an e-sim. You are right I didn't set things up correctly at first but after a second of realizing what I did, the setup process was cake. I simply overlooked the e-sim option when going to set her phone up. works like a champ now though.
So I'm looking into finding a provider that has a good Hotspot and came across the Google fi unlimited plus plan. It says it has unlimited tethering. The internet where I'm from isn't super fast and I was wondering if it's be worth it to get that or another providers 50gb high speed Hotspot plan for around the same price. My Hotspot will be the source of my internet for home and will have a xbox hooked up to it.
I think you sold me when you mentioned your experience at Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo is literally in my backyard. I can go outside and see the land Bonnaroo is on from my back porch. Seems like I should have good service. Lol
@@FoggyDigital It’s pretty awesome for folks like us that enjoy Bonnaroo, but as you can imagine, we have neighbors that legitimately plan vacations for that week to avoid the traffic/noise. I just love being able to come home after a long night and sleep in my own bed. 🙂 Appreciate the video!!
If you finance a phone through Google Fi and cancel, your "financing" ends when you quit! Which is bullshit! Because Google Fi pulls your credit leaving a "hard pull inquiry" which stays on your credit report for 2 years! If you're not ready to pay the money you owe, tough shit, your "financing" is gone!
Your review matches my experience. I'm loving Fi so far as I just left big red after 15 years. By the way I have a Pixel 5. I'm told the radio inside (the part that radiates our brains 😵💫😅 and does the communicating with towers) is lower amp/weaker than the ones usually used by Samsung & Apple. I believe it as I consistently have just slightly less reception than my friends who are on some other phones with the same network as we stand right beside each other. But I still love my Pixel....AND FI!!
Hell yeah!! I am super glad you love it. I do too and I don't see a better alternative for myself. I wish I had a Pixel phone with a S-pen. I love Pixel software so much I wish I could install it on my galaxy Note
I, for one, have had the opposite experience. I would mostly get the best network between friends in rural areas. I have a P3 + Fi, friends would be on iphone + at&t.
@@AtulKedia Okay, overall how is it working out though? Would you continue to keep the service or look elsewhere? Pretty cool to know you are getting better service in rural situations.
@@FoggyDigital I'm keeping. I've had it for 6 years now. In terms of service, no issue so far. I don't live too rural but often travel very rural. It serves my purpose well because I travel internationally about 1ce every 2yrs and also use data sims on an extra tablet and a phone. Edit: Overall it works. I mean no surprises there. I really like the simplicity.
MY EXPERIENCE can be simplified with 1 word.... CONSISTENT. i am currently trying US MOBILE out which is also an MVNO for mainly verizon and tmobile while google fi is an MVNO for tmobile and i believe US CELLULAR... an from my results so far.... GOOGLE FI IS JUST THE BETTER CHOICE FOR ME. what im experiencing with google fi 1) data is consistently 100-200 mb down and up 2) ping is a consistent 80mb 3) data doesnt randomly drop connection 4) hotspot is amazing (i use mainly tethered hotspot which is using a usb cable to pc) why i chose google fi in the first place: 1) reliable and fast 2) simple to activate/operate con 1) price... can be 70+ dollars when you add tax 2) 50 gb of data (im a data only user with no wifi, so this can be a problem at times when i need to update or download games on my phone or pc) the data plans got better from when i used them at the time, but they can definitely work the plans a little better. i would prefer 100 gb of data at 45 - 50 dollars like us mobile what im experiencing with us mobile 1) data drops even on 5g ultrawide band 2) ping is outrageously high at 600 mb 3) hotspot is the same as data... high ping and slow at times too. 4) downloading apps takes too long random times too even though my data speeds were 500mb down why i chose us mobile in the first place 1) 45-50 dollars for 100 gb of data and 50 gb of hotspot. even though us mobile had tempting prices... my experience with google fi was a smoother and reliable experience even though its 20 dollars extra for lower data, but it was always consistent and reliable with better ping. my recommendation is to also use google fi even if you are a single customer with no family plan. i dont care what anyone says about this service... google fi will be my favorite service by far.
I live in an area where the Google Fi coverage map indicates Strong 5G coverage for most of the area. However I barely get any reception at all ??? I've tried it with other phones and I get the same results. Google is wet paint. Everything they do is for beta testers. I'm currently using a S22 Plus that was purchased from Google Fi.
Damn that ain't right. I am sorry you are in that situation. I would definitely be trying to get my money back so you can go with a provider that has good coverage where you live. But thank you for the comment. I hope people read this and actively check out the service with a spare phone before jumping all in such as myself.
They getting on my last nerves worst phone company i ever had i accidentally deleted my google account quickly recovered they still terminated my service n refuse to switch it back on
I want to switch from AT&T 170 a month for 2 phones to Google Fi which would be 80 a month so quite a difference. It sounds very complicated though? I have to contact AT&T just to keep our numbers? I have a Pixel 4XL but my wife has an iPhone SE. That sounds complicated too.
Honestly the transition was pretty easy. Just make a call to AT&T to port your numbers over. As for the iPhone, Google will have instructions for you to follow for setup. When an update happens you will have to make sure the settings stay the same because Apple likes to have it their way but shouldn't be to much of an issue. I do recommend testing the waters before going all in like I did just in case the service isn't as good.
@@FoggyDigital thanks man for the info! So maybe keep both services for a month? How would I do that? I think it's gonna be fine, the service that is. I'm in NJ with excellent coverage everywhere for the most part. Thanks again.
Oh hell, you will definitely have good service. I live in Kansas and if I have service in the middle of nowhere you'll have service in NJ. I say go for it. But also let me know how you like it. I plan on doing an update video about it soon and knowing how the service is for others is going to be apart of it.
Even att prepaid would be better deal then your paying. That's way too much. Att prepaid is 65 a month (drops to 50 with auto pay) as well as add a line get another 5 off that line too. So for 95 a month your still on att unlimited two lines
I have one in service right now. It works great, with the exception of the updates apple pushes and you wind up having to input the cell settings again.
WOW k so after lessoning about what phones he has and his daughter set up on Phone. Go to 7.12 and finally starts talking about Google Fi coverage at 7.12 good luck
Fi as I know it, is a tower jumping, hotspot permissible lightning 🌩️⚡ bolt of Telecom MVNO service. I have hotspot codes plugged into my phones. I have dual sim phones with 4 different companies at once. Simple, red pocket, boost, ultra Next month it'll change. Boost, at this point, is a bitch to set. Between T-Mobile, att and dish, the sim won't work in one capacity or another depending on phone and apn settings.
I have the Pixel 7 Pro and I'm currently through Virizon... Really thinking about Google Fi because Virizon 5G is so little right now. I'm in Michigan and 5G is bad. T Mobile towers with Google Fi are calling my name. They have way better coverage in my state and I really don't travel much. I know Virizon is better across the country but not in my state.
So far Google Fi is killing it IMO. 5G was good from Verizon but it's better with Fi for me. Also how do you like your 7 pro? Hella interested in a real world users perspective of one.
@@FoggyDigital coming from iphone to the pixel 7.. it's a good phone.. but it is a bit buggy. Might return it to Verizon tomorrow.. cancel my plan with Verizon.. and order a 22 ultra
I was going to switch to Google Fi for the unlimited Hotspot. A 256kb data speed cap after 50 gigs though…that’s laughable. I have truly unlimited data (I’m sure there’s some throttling but I haven’t noticed any yet using a few hundred gigs) with Verizon and 60 gigs of hotspot. The unlimited hotspot and data is a straight lie. It’s really data capped at 50 gigs and hotspot shares the data. I mean who’s going to hotspot tether at 256kb….what is this 1995….do I need to download AOL and plugin to a phone line after my data cap or what.
So I live in Wisconsin. The area I live in has great service but when driving to a area with less coverage that should have intelligent switching from T-Mobile to US cellular I get horrible service with my pixel 6...so I'm convinced the "intelligent switching" isn't really a thing IMO 🤷
That's disappointing to hear. Lol I am not so sure about the intelligent switching myself. Soon I will have to travel to Wisconsin so I will be interested in how service is as I head up that way. I'll be close to Menomonie and further east into Chippewa. Anywho I do hope that google continues to improve the service. So far the I am enjoying it.
Try it out with say like, an unlocked iPhone or Android phone next time, and see if it gives you grief - from what I’ve learned, most of the issue comes from that Tensor Modem than anything else. It hasn’t been optimized for everything just yet, because it was literally brand new.
@@jhylton8789 so I have tried it with my old unlocked OnePlus 7t but I doesn't work. Bad news is that I can't get my hand on a iphone or Samsung at the moment. So now I just use the 2 different codes for if and when I'm going to a area that doesn't have great coverage from T-Mobile.
That sucks ass. I am sorry about that. Hopefully Google gets to the point that there is enough of us on it and they expand service to everything and everywhere they can.

@@jhylton8789 That makes a ton of sense. I hope that changes in the future for you Alaskans. I am curious though, how are other cell phone provider capabilities?
@@FoggyDigital In Alaska, AT&T is actually the best from what I’ve seen. I don’t know if there are any local providers anywhere anymore, but AT&T bought CellularOne up there years ago, plus another company, and expanded their offerings. I think Verizon has some coverage, but it’s limited to mostly just the large cities. T-Mo is…lacking up there. Sprint is the only footprint they have in that area, as far as, where the coverage they HAVE came from. VoiceStream hadn’t made it to Alaska, so, T-Mobile has had to expand that direction at their own expense and it seems to be rather steep.

If I port today to fi will my current device no long work so I'll have to wait until my phone come in mail? Or will it continues to work?
You should wait for both decicyto be in hand before you do any transfers.
You should wait for your device to arrive before you begin the port process. It usually can be done in less than 2 hours, and you’re done.
God bless you 🙏🏻 ❤️
Same VZ experience but for 19 years! I’m looking to finally get rid of VZ…
I will tell you I will not go back to VZ I have had a great experience with Fi.
Yes, people need to vote with their feet by leaving expensive cell services. That's the main reason I switched to Google Fi.
Wait, iPhone 11 has esim?
That is correct
Did you consider T-Mobile
I did. But they had bad deals at the time
Had Verizon up until 3 weeks ago. Switched over and saved $190
Ngl, you have me thinking about dropping Big Red.
I believe it is worth a look!
Get rid of that money-sucking prepaid-heavy network.
I spent $1200 while in Mexico for 3 months. Switching to Google fi hope it works.
Wow 😳😲 I hope it works well for you too.
Hope this helps you a little
Also if recommend trying it out with an old phone before going all in.
@@FoggyDigital , ok thanks
So for iPhone do we get the Esim?
Pixel phones have the ability to switch their carriers. While others are stuck with one carrier. I wonder if switching carriers used to be called “Roaming”.
So your brother broke your phone to the point where the screen doesn't work and it's somehow Google's fault that he can't call anyone from a broken phone? Make it make sense.
Bonnarooooooooo ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
BonnaroooOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
My fi experience was a trial with my galaxy s21 and the data would not work. Calls were nice and clear tho when connected to wifi.
Funny how when I had Verizon before I could receive picture messages. The moment I switched to Fi, I could receive texts but not picture messages and it's driving me crazy!!
What phone are you using?
@@FoggyDigital Samsung Galaxy A51 (non 5g version) running Android 12.
I've switched back from Google fi to straight talk. The only reason I would consider going back to Google fi is because of its free roaming...
I think you sold me when you mentioned your experience at Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo is literally in my backyard. I can go outside and see the land Bonnaroo is on from my back porch. Seems like I should have good service. Lol
Honestly a little jealous that roo is in your backyard
@@FoggyDigital It’s pretty awesome for folks like us that enjoy Bonnaroo, but as you can imagine, we have neighbors that legitimately plan vacations for that week to avoid the traffic/noise. I just love being able to come home after a long night and sleep in my own bed. 🙂
Appreciate the video!!
See you on the farm. Thanks for watching!
@@AtulKedia that's awesome to hear. I am very happy with my experience and am excited to see how it works internationally.
Good information
If I have an iPhone should i do the physical or esim?
E-Sim was all my daughter phone had. So check if that all you have. It pretty straight forward
MY EXPERIENCE can be simplified with 1 word.... CONSISTENT. i am currently trying US MOBILE out which is also an MVNO for mainly verizon and tmobile while google fi is an MVNO for tmobile and i believe US CELLULAR... an from my results so far.... GOOGLE FI IS JUST THE BETTER CHOICE FOR ME.
what im experiencing with google fi
1) data is consistently 100-200 mb down and up
2) ping is a consistent 80mb
3) data doesnt randomly drop connection
4) hotspot is amazing (i use mainly tethered hotspot which is using a usb cable to pc)
why i chose google fi in the first place:
1) reliable and fast
2) simple to activate/operate
con
1) price... can be 70+ dollars when you add tax
2) 50 gb of data (im a data only user with no wifi, so this can be a problem at times when i need to update or download games on my phone or pc)
the data plans got better from when i used them at the time, but they can definitely work the plans a little better. i would prefer 100 gb of data at 45 - 50 dollars like us mobile
what im experiencing with us mobile
1) data drops even on 5g ultrawide band
2) ping is outrageously high at 600 mb
3) hotspot is the same as data... high ping and slow at times too.
4) downloading apps takes too long random times too even though my data speeds were 500mb down
why i chose us mobile in the first place
1) 45-50 dollars for 100 gb of data and 50 gb of hotspot.
even though us mobile had tempting prices... my experience with google fi was a smoother and reliable experience even though its 20 dollars extra for lower data, but it was always consistent and reliable with better ping.
my recommendation is to also use google fi even if you are a single customer with no family plan. i dont care what anyone says about this service... google fi will be my favorite service by far.
They getting on my last nerves worst phone company i ever had i accidentally deleted my google account quickly recovered they still terminated my service n refuse to switch it back on
Great video. Thanks
I got a s22 from google fi. This is what I found out ! Google fi has control of my e sim imei. You can't choose e Sim. Because there using it
I want to switch from AT&T 170 a month for 2 phones to Google Fi which would be 80 a month so quite a difference.
@@RedKryptonitelEl_ what are you talking about? I'm paying 80 a month for 2 lines, or 40 each. ATT is not a good deal in any way.
uh iPhone isn't really supported to Google fi
I have one in service right now. It works great, with the exception of the updates apple pushes and you wind up having to input the cell settings again.
@@FoggyDigital lol apple being apple
@@SwitchBladeX0 it is truly a pain in the ass sometimes
@@FoggyDigital well said lmao
Google Fi has it's issues, but the price is so much better (half if not better). Not to mention you can drop the service at anytime.
WOW k so after lessoning about what phones he has and his daughter set up on Phone. Go to 7.12 and finally starts talking about Google Fi coverage at 7.12 good luck
Should be some time stamps as well😅 sorry for my lack of being on point. I am getting better at this for sure.
Fi as I know it, is a tower jumping, hotspot permissible lightning 🌩️⚡ bolt of Telecom MVNO service.
I have hotspot codes plugged into my phones.
I have dual sim phones with 4 different companies at once.
Simple, red pocket, boost, ultra
Next month it'll change.

Boom first comment!
AH Ha ha ha Yes sir you are deffo the first!
It is, the Google Tensor chip just sucks and wasn’t optimized well enough. It switches perfectly on iPhones, Samsung devices, you name it.
I did find a way to force it to switch typing in a code on my pixel 6 to switch from T-Mobile network to US Cellular. So now I just use the 2 different codes for if and when I'm going to a area that doesn't have great coverage from T-Mobile.
@@leemoore9400 To be honest…unless you live in Nebraska, Iowa or Wisconsin, US Cellular isn’t going to be something you’ll actively need.

I thought it was good, but hell. I'm in Alaska and been with no service for a week.
This service is sht. WTF
That sucks ass. I am sorry about that. Hopefully Google gets to the point that there is enough of us on it and they expand service to everything and everywhere they can.
@@FoggyDigital Google Fi doesn’t have good roaming agreements in Alaska, nor is there much bandwidth available because Alaska and Fiber Internet aren’t necessarily synonymous.
