If How Ridiculous has taught me anything, it's that dropping large glass balls results in Coney Jonies, not shattered glass.
Witnessed and approved by Rexy.
I understood that reference.
@@superpaul79 that profile picture is legendary
@@jasonander4964 😁👍
Demoranch shot them too
For a second I was like, "Why do they have half an anvil?" Then I was like, oh yeah, right.
Who would have guessed half an anvil would have more uses than the original anvil.
I could be wrong, but I think the 8" ball has over twice the volume of the 6" 268ci vs 113ci
As a math teacher I will confirm that is correct.
Those specific numbers didn’t sound like you could be wrong 😂
Yup. 4/3(3.14)(4^3)
Volume and size aren't always equivalent though right? As size can be objective pertaining to the area an object takes up.
As an mechanical design engineer I will confirm that I did not actually do the math but it sounds about right
When you cut the first one in half, they looked like implants😂
First “How Ridiculous”, then “Demolition Ranch”, and now these guys. I guess this company is sponsoring everyone out here.
They're not sponsored, they just buy them from the Chinese factory
they wouldve had to tell us if it were sponsored
Ya
How ridiculous and demolition ranch are friends. And they mentioned demolition ranch in the video, so I guess they watch him and decided this would be cool.
First Demolition Ranch, then How Rediculous.
This is probably the only channel where "half an anvil" is normal
They are not all accounted for, the lost seeing stones. We do not know who else may be watching
Carve bowling grips into it

A concave makeup mirror in my parents bathroom started burning holes in the wood window trim. That comment about the drapes isn't a joke.
Demolition Ranch fans? 🤭
My thoughts exactly lol.
🤙
Is that a problem?
I thought about that too!
Yee yee
Did you get demonetized for having 30 seconds of shooting? LOL I got no ads.

@@Kskzj1 Just a matter of time before an anti-gun person comes along to ruin it for them, which is why I never upload gun videos.
@@swarls2520 you think banning guns will stop the violence? Lets ban drugs so folks dont over dose...let me know how that works out
@@swarls2520 stay in your country. Ours where founded on a list of core principles. Guess what number two is. Too bad yall dont have number one either. If we didnt have the second we probably wouldn't have the first. Also, how many stabbings and acid attacks do you have?
@@swarls2520 You don’t understand our second amendment in the Bill of Rights, our intrinsic right to possess effective means of self-defense is a part of this country’s fundamental laws; it’s a human right and its here to stay. Also, gun violence is much more nuisanced than you think; so banning them isn’t the right thing to do. If anything, we should learn what Switzerland is doing right.
Creating this channel must be awesome, you can keep a half of everything you want!
I love how unprofessional these guys are.
"How sharp is it?" And he proceeds to test that by using it as a razor on his arm
you can polish up the flat side of the two halves and you get a pair of 6" lens that can be use for a focusing LED spotlight build
To get rid if the cloudy side of the glass use really high grit sand paper in steps. Like 1000, 2000 and 3000 to see if it clears it up.

These guys clearly never grew up.
It's great. Awesome video, looking forward to another
Watching the water jet cut through the glass on that first orb was sick! It's been a while, I've been wanting to see the actual cutting process. Now I have, thanks guys.
you guys always make great funny stuff, loving it!
Not sure why but this was so satisfying to watch. Didn't even know about this channel, TH-cam just recommended it to me!
For a second I tought "Why do they have half an anvil?", and then I remembered what channel I'm watching.
I love how the entire video is very entertaining to watch. They don’t just have one highlight, they have multiple. (Cutting it, dropping it, dropping an anvil on it, then shooting it)
The volume of a sphere grows to the cubic of its radius, so for double the volume you need the cubic root of 2 times the original radius (about 25% more radius) so a sphere with r=8 has more than double the volume of a sphere with r=6
This is the earliest I have ever seen a video without the notification bell working
YESSSSS! I wanted this after seeing demo ranch shoot one
A man with glass balls must avoid a dangerous situation...
I love y'all's channel, y'all just end up destroying whatever y'all got in tha first place LOL

The way it spun on the anvil was pretty sweet.

I remember watching a show where they walk into a fortune tellers hut and after they're about to leave all mystified and shit and the person notices them draping the crystal ball and asks if its to keep spirits from escaping or something and fortune teller bluntly says "nah, it's just to avoid starting a fire" and you could tell the person that asked was so disappointed/embarrassed.
Forget about the hydraulic press, this is the most satisfying video out there!!!
This is the most scientific thing I've ever seen

Ya'll just invented water-knapping.
"Your face is huge and upside down."
"Thumbnail?"
Perfect intro lol
His face looked like the chocolate lobster guy
reminds me of a post about someone being taught how to use a crystal ball for magic and being told "never leave this unconvered on your desk" so she asked if there was a magical reason like upsetting spirits and the medium was like "no you'll burn your house down if the sun shines on it"
That's so sharp, you should make glass knives.
Boss looks out into parking lot, sees flaming bag, sighs, closes blinds.
Shoutout to the waterjet channel for accelerating the heat death of the universe
You can polish the two halves and they will magnify like crazy.
An 8" ball is more than twice the size of a 6" ball.
A 6" ball has a volume of 905"^3, an 8" ball has a volume of 2145"^3.
EGADS! I'm 1:05 into this and i am already impressed: "This is why you don't set this ball next to some drapes"!!!! NICE safety tip!!! Because I was about to go shopping for a giant glass ball to entertain my granddaughter!! Almost as dangerous as this stupid blue laser I bought a couple of years ago; it's the most dangerous thing in my gun safe!!!
An 8 inch sphere is actually over twice the area of a 6 inch sphere. 113 inch³ and 268 inch³ respectively, which is nearly 2.5 times the size (which explains why the bigger one seems to weigh 3 times as much).
1:26 Fun math fact: the 8” weighs 2.37 times as much as the 6”
8³/6³≈2.37
Wouldn't that be for cubes? Been a while since I was in school...
@@DavidSprings, it’s true for cubes too, same with any 3D object. The volume of a sphere is 4/3*pi*radius^3, and a cube is width^3.
Both have a dimension to the 3rd power as the important bit
Why does the jet shatter the ball when shooting from the middle, but not when cutting from the side?
This was really cool! Did you think to try shooting a glass ball out of that air cannon you have?
I think a sloped start for the pierce could have helped, I regularly pierce thick glass at work with a 45000 psi waterjet and it works just fine if you start at 0 PSI
Does the backsplash from the water damage the sprayer head? Like in the vertical shot looks like it was spraying back hard
Volume of a sphere: 4/3πr^3
6inch ball:
4/3π(3)^3
4/3π27
36π
8 inch ball:
4/3π4^3
4/3π64
85.3π
The 8 inch ball is more than twice the size of the 6inch
Half an anvil? Half the suspense.
You can sand it and try to make it clearer, the layers are from the glass cooling at different speeds/times.
That’s interesting
Thumbnail on point
The waterjet channel pondering the orb.
A forty pounds necklace, exactly what I need for my back pain!!!
Might have done it if you did a low pressure pierce (but take forever)
Where do I get one of these glass balls? I have a 4inch one and I want a bigger one for an experiment.
If you guys made a drawn program you could do a low pressure pierce that would help with making the bore hole
Half of an anvil to shatter half of a glass sphere.
Can you ramp the pressure up gradually or in steps
Thumbnail is gold
Maybe try coming into the side and using the water just to make a flat on opposite sides, then setting it on one flat.
Also, I'd love to see one of the flats of the halves polished!
Can you adjust the minimum PSI on the nozzle - Ramp up to drill hole in glass ball? - Maybe use a piece of metal and glass with a gap to start the process?
Should have reduced the pressure while piercing it. Im not used to your size nozzle but with the 0.3mm nozzle i work with, low pressure (1300-1500 bar) and prime with abrasive does the trick with glass.
Hey guys, I run a jet at a glass fab shop and punch holes in glass all day long. 40,000 PSI with a vacuum assist to pull the garnet through before the water comes on will absolutely bore a hole straight through it.
I wonder if you could make a pottery glaxe out of the ecogarnet?
You can put clear scotch tape on frosted glass to make it look clear again, the adhesive fills in the tiny abrasions
The guy you keep showing on the video looks like Paul Giamatti.....that’s a compliment 😀
My guess is that when the ball was cut in half, its internal structure was disturbed. This allowed the water and gas to penetrate it causing the frosting of each half. Pretty much like milky quartz.
That's one tough ball
The grates make it look like it’s broken before it’s even cut.
The thumbnail was beautiful
That’s pretty neat, maybe try another 8” ball but on low pressure pierce with the orbital mode on and set it to the mixing tube diameter don’t forget to adjust your garnet flow lol. It will be slow but the spray pattern will be interesting. But as long as you’re ordering you could get 2 or more and try a couple different orbits - 2 or 3 times the mixing tube diameter maybe 5 if those don’t work. Maybe even on HP.... ehh? 😉
These glass balls are everywhere
Can you adjust the cutting speed on the fly? How do you set the speed for random stuff like this?
Yes we can slow it down on the machine. So we usually just guess and see how it cuts
All the channels I watch have these things. Where are y'all getting them?
Cutting it in half reminded me of an orbie cut in half
someone needs to send one of these down a huge hill to see if it would make it lmao
Trying to get the paper bag to burn, reminded me of the Mythbusters episode where they tried that trick with ice they tried to shape into spheres.
You guys should make a ballistics gel arm and swing it through the stream to see if it will “cut” an arm off
This is ART! You art hard?
I think you can polish that one cut in half so you can see through it.
That glass ball would cook a roast dinner. 😂😆
What a mess. I hope no critters get hurt on that glass, because even if you do try to pick it up, you can't get it all.
I miss the old days of water jet channel just cutting random things in half.
you can sand and polish the halves to make them optically clear again, would be neat, but would take time.
Making contact lenses for a giant squid
try forklift wheel, they are extremely tough, if only it could be fit underwater table....
when a waterjet can do more damage then a gun
For the 8inch ball wouldn’t it have been better to gradually raise the water pressure instead of blasting it that strong?
Everyone doing these glass balls so dirty... So much science
1:05 I thought I was watching the twilight zone lol
even when he shot the glad ball with the ar-15 it still held up pretty good. it's crazy
"which also, the 8 inch i swear weighs like three times as much"
good news, math says that it nearly *is* three times as much
This turned into how ridiculous fast.
How hot does the tip of the sprayer get from friction with garnet on?
It was smoking, I'm wondering how much of the tip got ground-off.
