I'm 15 and start at 2nd base for my freshman team. I'm pretty short but have a decent arm. I've played 2nd most of my life and played some shortstop and centerfield but 2nd is my favorite and is my home because its a humble but hard position. Luckily for me most of it has come naturally to me and I haven't ever struggled. I was curious to see this video because I knew you were pretty good and not much new to me but this is a good video IMO. The first highlight was especially good because it showed how to not get killed like you said.
Thanks this helped so much! I recently moved from Arizona to Virginia and as many know baseball in Arizona is very good. I basically got to pick my high school since there were so many schools in a 10 mile radius. I picked the returning state champions and now I'm the starting second baseman as a sophomore. I had never played second base before and as you mentioned the double plays are so much different. I appreciate the help and I wish you a good season this year!
Nice vid just wanted to mention some of the best second baseman at turning the dp are cano because he can take his time because he has such a cannon pedroia because he always hangs in there and thn Barney is really underrated he has a shortstop arm and always use the base as protection
im a second baseman and i remember it was one play where i was trying to catch the ball from the catcher, trying to get the runner coming to second out and the runner completely smacked right into me and damn near tacked me off the bag lol tallk about blind side.
Dude I was watching a spring training game the other day and there was a soft grounder to third and the third baseman made the play . Then I heard the announcer say, "Antonelli" and I was like holy crap I know him. Haha. I was kinda bummed I didn't get to see you hit though.
I think avoiding a slide at second should be a priority to learn in the infield even at a young age. i'm 15 and last year we lost an important player in a big game because of a collision at second that caused are infielder to break his femur it's not easy having a teammate in so much pain
Great video very informative I haven't played baseball in about 4 years I'm going back to school to play second base I understand that it takes hard work and dedication that's why I came see your video today
Hey so I'm 12 and last spring when I played I played left center and right feel I would switch positions in the outfield bc of my speed and arm but I and good on all bases except 2 bc couch put me on 2 in a losing game and I've never played second so I messed up so can you explain how to play 2?
Hi my names nicholas im 14 and im not that tall and i wont grow that much cause i am currently taller than both of my parents. im naturally lefty and ive played outfield my entire life because of my speed. recently the past 6 months ive been practicing throwing with my right and i gotten really good its just the only thing is that i cant throw that hard yet but ive been doing an arm workout with an elastic band. Since im not that tall i dont really have a future playing outfield cause outfielders tend to be like 6 something but i think i have one in second cause second basemen tend to not always be tall and when i get older ill probably grow to about 5"7. I would really like to learn more about second so i could get better in playing that position. If you can teach some stuff that will be great. Thank you
i play second, if i have to dive, im going to dive. Personally i think that people just need to dive safely, i always try to avoid hitting my collarbone for example, i just get the ball and start to rotate in-air, if im going for a diving tag then i try to avoid hitting the base with my body for example.

Have you done any vids on avoiding slides? If not it would really help me if you could do one. Thank you.
What would be the best way to practice turning 2.

Im a lefty who plays second any tips for me?
Play 1st
Yeah I'd get used to playing 1st and outfield because they are going to switch you over there once you get a little older
Well im not usually at 1st. I guess ill try it the next practice i have.
no fence but don't do second as a lefty it just doesn't work play first
Really good site.
Thanks! Thanks for watching!!
When I literally play 2nd base and got slid into yesterday and then got hurt😂
Where is the play with a runner on second no outs, ball hit to second
Throw it to first to get the sure out. If the runner on second tries to get to third then the first baseman will throw it to third.
I play travle baseball and one of my coaches is OJ McDuffie and i play 2nd base ajd you did not talk about anythaing
Have you some Italian parent
You talked for 3 minutes when I finally shut it off because you said nothing.
