- The Sandbox (1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ) gets a DIY Jeep XJ steering box brace from Barnes 4wd. Why? Because big tires and big rocks and stock XJ steering boxes do not get along.

Will this work with an antirock sway bar?
i don’t have an anti rock sway bar but based off of pictures I feel like it should work. May need longer bolts for the anti rock sway bar because of the extra thickness of the brace though
What would you say is the benefit of this install?
Good question. The hope is that the extra load from turning bigger tires wedged up against a rock won’t make it’s way up to the steering box and pry on the three bolts connecting it to the frame which is prone to cracking bc of the thickness of the metal. This brace should help keep the bottom of the steering box from pivoting side to side and eliminating that prying action on the bolts/frame. That’s the hope at least!
Sway bar stock diameter?
I believe so. The previous owner installed the sway bar quick disconnects and I think the kit reused the stock sway bar & mounting brackets.
