Running in the 90s just popped into my recommended on my spotify and it autoplayed and I really liked it and researched it more. I found Initial D and have been a huge fan ever since. I grew up going to local rallies and my dad owned a garage so initial D immediately grew on me.

I didn´t search for it and only consumed it with other media or on the radio with my parents. But at that moment I wanted to listen to it the whole day. so I started searching on youtube and making my own playlists. firstly with mostly initial D uploads. and then I got sucked deeper and deeper in. Now I have an about 200 video playlist of solely eurobeat and eurobeat remixes. and there is not a single one I dislike. but the best part is always discovering new songs. The genre exists for a long time so there are already a lot of songs which may not be well known so you can really dig for gold there. I only discovered Disney eurobeat last sunday. and I have my fun with it.

@@masterexasterbaiter2914 ah ok yea, Takuya Kimura who was part of the really popular Japanese Boy Band SMAP would occasionally perform Para Para to the songs on his boy bands variety tv show called SMAPxSMAP which was one of the most popular shows in Japan occasionally getting 20 million tv views per episode so the song got a lot of exposure (this was around 1998/1999), around the turn off the century Disney realising they can make money off of the EUROBEAT boom in Japan asked Dave Rodgers label (A-Beat-C) to make a eurobeat compilation covering some popular Disney songs and one of the most popular was Mickey Mouse March covered by Domino which people argue was almost or nearly more popular that Night Or Fire, now going back to Night If Fire which at this point was the most popular EUROBEAT song in all of eurobeat history was performed by Takuya Kimura in collaboration with Disney and the rest is there.

Eurobeat has positive vibes without a hint of melancholy. Eurobeat is a very diverse and Initial D soundtracks don't really show the true range of the genre. There is a style of Eurobeat known in Japan as Aishu Eurobeat (Sorrowful Eurobeat). Norma Sheffield is considered the queen of Aishu Euro. If you want know what this style of music sounds like, look for 哀愁ユーロビート videos. Eurobeat is heavily influenced by rock music, and the songs with the most rock influences are the kind of songs that you would normally find on Initial D. @@masterexasterbaiter2914 ah ok yea, Takuya Kimura who was part of the really popular Japanese Boy Band SMAP would occasionally perform Para Para to the songs on his boy bands variety tv show called SMAPxSMAP which was one of the most popular shows in Japan occasionally getting 20 million tv views per episode so the song got a lot of exposure (this was around 1998/1999), around the turn off the century Disney realising they can make money off of the EUROBEAT boom in Japan asked Dave Rodgers label (A-Beat-C) to make a eurobeat compilation covering some popular Disney songs and one of the most popular was Mickey Mouse March covered by Domino which people argue was almost or nearly more popular that Night Or Fire, now going back to Night If Fire which at this point was the most popular EUROBEAT song in all of eurobeat history was performed by Takuya Kimura in collaboration with Disney and the rest is there.

@@Stevem Sorry for replying to an old comment, but I've only just found you're videos. I think they're being a little unreasonable by calling you wrong about Eurobeat, as you can only go so in-depth in a short video, but there were a few things that I thought were a little oversimplified.
1. Eurobeat has positive vibes without a hint of melancholy.
Eurobeat is a very diverse and Initial D soundtracks don't really show the true range of the genre. There is a style of Eurobeat known in Japan as Aishu Eurobeat (Sorrowful Eurobeat). Norma Sheffield is considered the queen of Aishu Euro. If you want know what this style of music sounds like, look for 哀愁ユーロビート videos.
Eurobeat is heavily influenced by rock music, and the songs with the most rock influences are the kind of songs that you would normally find on Initial D. There are some songs that take elements from other genres though. Here are some examples.

2. Eurobeat didn't find much commercial success until Avex launched Super Eurobeat
I personally disagree with this. First, we need to clear up what the term 'Eurobeat' actually means in Japan. To most western fans, Eurobeat is a genre that started in the 90's with the Super Eurobeat compilation, but in Japan, Italo Disco, Hi-NRG, Euro-disco and Canadian Disco are also considered Eurobeat. This includes many artists that westerners would just consider to be 80's pop music, such as early Kylie Minogue and Rick Astley. From what I remember reading, Eurobeat was actually experiencing a slump in popularity when Avex released the first Super Eurobeat album, and declined even further in popularity in 1991 when Juliana's Tokyo opened and Techno became the countries most popular form of dance music.
The music that western fans would consider Eurobeat didn't actually exist until after Avex released Super Eurobeat. The first few volumes contained songs that were much closer to 80's Italo Disco than the modern form of Eurobeat that started in the early 90's.
To summarize, depending on how you define Eurobeat, it was either experiencing a slump when Avex started to release their compilations, or it didn't exist yet.
3. ParaPara is the one true way to dance to Eurobeat
I can't blame you for not knowing this, as even in Japan it's been forgotten by everyone outside the Para scene, but there is another dance called Fire Step, which predates ParaPara, and is mostly done to 80's and early modern Eurobeat. People sometimes try to make routines to more recent Eurobeat too. Here's a video that ends with a routine to God Knows, which was released around 2010.

If you go to an oldies Euro event in Tokyo, especially one at King and Queen, you'll often see a circle of people around the edge of the dance floor doing ParaPara, and a group of people in the center doing Fire Step.
