Why does EVERYONE feel the need to comment on this when they see it? It's out of his control, why does it need to be pointed out? I really don't get it. How is it not body shaming?
This was the first time I ever heard Bon Iver. I was listening to kpfk on my way home from work and this part of the show came over the radio as I tuned in. I pulled the car over and just sat there and listened and was super grateful to be alive. It really is the little things that make life worth it all.
Same thing happened to me. He was interviewed for his first album on NPR and I had to pull over and finish listening. I was in the middle of nasty divorce. Justin (and Neko Case) held my hand til I got to the other side of it.
I feel completely incapable of writing ANYTHING that approximates the peace and hopefulness I get from Justin/Bon Iver's work. Legit have struggled with anxiety and depression since I was nine and this feeling is what I hope everlasting peace feels like.
Heard the official audio of this song dozens of times. Then, I found this video of Bon Iver singing it live. I felt the same goosebumps, just like when I first heard the song. Bon Iver is a musical genius.
3 1/2 months to go, Bon Iver in Newport Ky, June 21st. My first concert was Jimi Hendrix in 1970, and now 50 or so concerts later, Bon Iver!! Excited, fulfilled, COMPLETE, I simply can’t contain myself

This is my favourite song. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song as good as this one. With all the different versions it just makes it that much better. It’s gotten me through a lot
with this half-bold head he looks so real and so true. on the other hand we have unrealistic looking pop-stars. though they all together don't worth as much as this one man.
The quality of the audio on these PHC videos makes them the BEST live performances of so many artists! I searched through all of the live shows of Bon Iver doing this song and was waiting and waiting for this one to be posted!! Thank you, Chris, for making this possible for us radio listeners to get to see the best parts of your shows!
amazing to hear this version without any electronic effects. I love the album version, but it's cool to let the song stand entirely on its own like this.
Incredible song! I always get goosebumps, no matter how many times I hear the song. For me, the moment starting at 3:20 is simply magical! And I make my self escape Oh, the multitude of other Such a moving way of singing!
it's crazy, we constantly get told that we have to look a certain way to be seen but I'm looking at Justin now and I know that that's false. He's beautiful.
His lyrics are less focused on meaning more so on feeling. They pull a feeling out of you and it’s abstract. Some people will shit on this style of songwriting but it’s a stream of consciousness thing that not everyone will understand or comprehend and that’s okay.
I think his songs definitely mean things and there's a lot of intention there but he equally focuses on the texture of the words and what sounds musical.@@dkes53
Maximus Challenger I think so. He always seems to use it in this song, even if he hasn’t on others from the same set. At least that is the impression I’ve got.
At 0:47 the word "spot" isn't really a note, it's more spoken for effect. If he was using pitch correction I don't think he'd be able to do that without it being retuned to a key note. Nor would he be able to do that kind of out of tune inflection on "seems" at 1:07 etc

Yup even his lean back position at 1:25 and the other parts while trying to do 2nd voice also made me cringe so hard. People faking themselves trying to look cool is so lame.
i've been a chris thile fan for a while, you grow to learn that that is his personality, he has the vibe that he's always a little drunk and/or on acid and i mean that in the best way, he's super wiggly/floppy and expresses his emotions very outwardly, i can see on how first impression it gives a certain vibe, but the longer you see him be himself you know it's authentic
"never got the whoop"
WHOLE crowd proceedes to whoop when he starts again
shouts out to justins bangs for never giving up on him
LOL!
My mans Justin losing his hair but never losing his talent
Rynto00Labe lmfao thank u
never.
With ever strand he loses the more powerful a song writer he becomes
He is like Samson, just oposite

There is something about this man that i can even describe. He simply fill my soul every time he sings.
I feel completely incapable of writing ANYTHING that approximates the peace and hopefulness I get from Justin/Bon Iver's work. Legit have struggled with anxiety and depression since I was nine and this feeling is what I hope everlasting peace feels like.
Chris Thile looks how I look whenever I hear this song, like my soul is just floating above by body
Heard the official audio of this song dozens of times. Then, I found this video of Bon Iver singing it live. I felt the same goosebumps, just like when I first heard the song.
Bon Iver is a musical genius.
betul bang
Wasn’t a fan of this song until I heard it live, I’ll never forget it. One of his best
FINALLY ITS OUT! THIS IS SUCH A GOOD VERSION OF THIS SONG. I love Justin and Chris together
Unbelievably delicate vocals together. Damn love this. Was not even a fan of Justin's before and now am!
Chris and Justin should do an album together!
2:47
Just a little number of musics can give me goosebumps like this one in that specific moment... What a gift from music God Justin/Bon Iver
Music theory lol!
1:27 gave me goosebumps

How was the concert?
No way ! Julian lage @ 1:35 , the talent on this stage is insane.
This version is so damn beautiful
I'm new to his stuff but catching up fast. Just incredible soulful bliss

I love this and I have absolutely no idea what he's talking about.
@@kartoffelschweinehund9007 I don’t think he even knows what he’s talking about sometimes.
He is talking about getting high
Oh man, I was already excited to see Chris along Justin's side, but Julian Lage is back there as well!
This is my favourite song. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song as good as this one. With all the different versions it just makes it that much better. It’s gotten me through a lot
I dont know what this song means but it always bring me to tears. Weirdly makes my soul feel broken and filled with love all at once... what is this.
I believe it's about a Divorce
I love this jazz indie hybrid version of the song
jazz indie? i got extreme americana/country vibes from this, but fair enough
baroque pop
I see happiness in this moment, this music. That happiness is quite silent, and peaceful. I wanna stay in this moment forever.
brilliant, a song you will play again and again
This song played as my son was born 💕
Their hug at the end is the purest form of respect
Justin has a once in a lifetime voice, truly a gift from the man upstairs
with this half-bold head he looks so real and so true.
on the other hand we have unrealistic looking pop-stars. though they all together don't worth as much as this one man.
this is moving me into blatant tears...

My man Justin going full dad with that growing bald spot but hey a man's gotta do what he gotta do
“You screwed me up. “Live performance can’t be beat. Pure .
This song makes me feel sad and happy in an indescribable way
Goosebumps.
WHY AM I ONLY SEEING THIS NOW
Julian Lage on guitar, only noticed now
This is somewhat better than the studio version. Feels very very natural
I love this song
Damn is that Julian Lage on guitar in the back?
Hayley Mary's voice never fails to amaze me. I love The Jezabels so much

Thank you so very much for uploading this.
Just noticed Justin Vernon has what looks like the album cover art of Richard Buckner's "dents and shells" on his right forearm?
Yeah, he’s said it’s his favourite ever album. His favourite ever song is by indigo girls
Incredible!
OMG Julian Lage on guitar! please do a record together!
EU ESCOLHI TE AMAR, JUSTIN! QUE HOMEM
Even Julian Lage is there wow
I want to get inside his head and understand what his lyrics mean. ♥️♥️♥️

Julian Lage si in the guitar OMG
Chris thile and bon iver on one stage jesus fuck

Julian Lageeee
Anybody got any ideas or heads up on what the lyrics mean? I'm possessed by this song......
if you like bon iver i strongly recommend “lufu” by Homes, incredible album.
Anyone else WISH WISH WISH we had Justin and Johnny Cash sing this together?!
Bon Iver and Nickel Creek tour?
Yes! Bon Iver and Nickelback
What a falsetto
what wonderful guitar and voice obviously
omgg is that julian lage ?
Para cuando Argentina???
♥️♥️♥️♥️
Best moment is precisly at 2min49
Instrumental sound so great at this moment
2:49
Jesus Christ. How was that on par with the album release?
I like everything about this except the other singers
each follicle of hair justin loses adds to his strength
Sometimes he has hair , sometimes he doesn’t . I wonder what he uses, or if it’s stress related .
Why the fuck is this the only damn clip from Live from Here with Justin? It's a damn shame I tell ya
Does any know if Justin is using a pitch correction here?
Maximus Challenger I think so. He always seems to use it in this song, even if he hasn’t on others from the same set. At least that is the impression I’ve got.
It doesn't sound like it tough, his singing seems really natural, i don't think he's using it on this performance.

No autotune/harmonizer on this performance, who needs a harmonizer when you have Chris & Aoife?
If he did it was stupid not to use it on the other songers' mics.

Having Julian Lage in the background is like having Beyonce as a back up singer.
I think the comparison is way reductive, thank you for pointing it out
no way punch brothers and bon iver

The forced laugh of the musician on the left at 0:27 made me cringe so hard
Yup even his lean back position at 1:25 and the other parts while trying to do 2nd voice also made me cringe so hard. People faking themselves trying to look cool is so lame.
"musician on the left"?? How dare you? thats Chris Thile. That dude is one of the best musicians on the planet.
Seemed genuine to me.
@@drfdwf392 lol that hip thrust tho
People referring to Chris Thile as "the musician on the left" makes me cringe so hard.
Hair club for men.
Unfortunately the other musicians misunderstood the vibe of the song and tried to jazz and spice it up way too much
Middle guy is trying too hard
Yep. He is truly a huge dork.
@RockMusic maybe you're a huge dork too
He looks awkward
