Hello sir I just bought one is well from e bay and I have question as you owned a watch before so is good to ask. My question is when I moving a compas crown the bezel is not only rotating is also moving on sides and touching lume dots(is that normal?) I also notice that compas crown is going up and down living a 1mm gap between case and crown.
I don't know if it's because of lighting but the dial's color is completely off, the same for that crappy leather strap. I've checked the serial # together with the movement and I do get a SARB017 as a result and it says it was made April 2008, 2018. I think you can't say anything about the colour through this video since the lightning isn't good. I hv 3 of same seller and had one from different seller with box and papers - color looks for me same. just the hour marker some of them hv dirt on it. or one has tiny bit visible glue on side of the saphirreglass. looks like those watches who failed QC due minor things like that

all original - the only thing which really bothers me is poor QC, high variation. and on same like on my 2 models I bought from same seller the slight difference of the crown. I don't think dial is fake but rather really bad QC. there is way to many similarities than it could be fake. this is first of the kind. mostly they need some failed watches obvious fakes to learn and improve, like forgot to replicate few details, obviously different fonts or spacing issues, color difference. but those difference here are more QC related. just the crown really puts me off. but the engraving on it looks also totally original.

No, definitely. eBay has something called seller protection. You will get your money back if someone sends you something other than what they claimed to be listing.

So many poor blokes have bought over 500 of these Feiko Alpinist on Ebay already.. Some of them claim to be "refurbished" so they can get away with having a fake logo/ back plate engraving.
I have bought from this seller and the watches are real, not fakes. There is a 6r15 inside and the case etc are fine. The different indices are just as a result of the batch that these watches come from. I think some of them maybe shop returns. I suspect they have had a bunch of defective watches and swapped movements and parts around to make good ones. This would explain the dust inside the case. I am going to keep mine as it is running fine. The case is spot on. The 1 o'clock indice has a scratch and there is some dust inside. I am going to remove the movement and give it a clean. For what I paid, £260, I am happy with mine though I wouldn't advise buying one from this seller. There is varying QC on them and you could easily get a duff one. Regardless the fella who made this video needs to send his back as the inner rotating bezel doesn't work.
Just remember, seeing a Seiko movement doesnt mean its real. Most higher end fakes create movements that are 100% identical to the real thing. Look and make up wise. Just saying, dont use that as a definite measure of real or fake.
Definitely a Fake'o the red line sticker at the back is a China knock off. Also it doesn't have the little red triangle on the inner rotating bezel! Everything should be perfect and in good working order in a brand new Seiko else it would not pass the QC!
I just received one of these with the same band color you have, yet every picture I've seen has a dark brown band rather than this greyish-brown. Does anyone know if this greyish brown was ever an official band color?
Sorry, but I have never seen one with a greyish brown colour. The strap that comes with the Alpinist is dark brown and it's shit, lol. It's actually such bad quality, that if I had not bought mine from an AD, I would have questioned if it was fake as well... But no, sorry I don't think they ever have come with a greyish brown strap, I have owned three of them over the years and only ever seen the same shitty brown faux Croc strap.

This is clearly fake watch, look at the 10 it’s not even and the other big difference is the area around the crown it’s shape is round like c and the original one is not round but like square so you can clearly see that it is fake so any one who got genuine Seiko and is in doubt just look for these two things area near the crown and hour markers other than that if your watch losing or gaining time don’t worry about that it’s an automatic watch it happens some time
Some fake Seikos are actually using genuine parts, but are assembled in home conditions by non professionals. I believe that this was the case with my watch. The movement inside actually felt and sounded like a genuine Seiko 6R15 mivement. However, the smudge on the dial and the non rotating bezel are not likely to have come out of Seiko's factory. I also noticed that the crown was all scratctched up and had a strange blueish tint.
@@AGWatchesAndGear When setting the hour hand on mine it had a jerky movement to it. All of the other 6r15 watches I have the hour hand moves smoothly when setting the time. The crown also doesn't screw flush to the case so I am bit worried about the water resistance of the watch. Thanks for making the video the seller has accepted a return. 👍
@@benlait3696 Glad, I've helped. All of my 6R15 Seikos are super smooth while setting the time. Those watches were definitely not assembled in a Seiko factory. Perhaps the seller has not been aware of that too.
Hey guys I bought one of these as well but not from the same seller. I have two questions. 1. There seems to be a rattling noise(similar to a bell) when I shake my wrist. Is this normal. 2. I woke up this morning and lost exactly and hour of time granted I didn’t wear the watch the entire day? Thanks
@@jonwolf2780 The 6R15 movement is usually quite loud, I can hear rattling from all my 6R15s, but not a bell sound. Also 1 hour per day is a lot. Have it serviced or checked by a watchmaker. The official accuracy for that movement is -15/+25 seconds per day. Most perform well below that at about +/-10 seconds per day

You are obviously new to watches. When money is to be made even the cheapest products get faked, including $50 watches. Fake has many meanings in the watch world. A watch assembled outside of Seiko's factories or one which has been "refurbished" by who know who also qualifies as a fake. Next time do the knowledge, before calling honest people liars.
You are wrong. This is definitely a fake and there are many fakes of the sarb017. When Seiko discontinued this model, second hand prices went up, creating a market for fakes. This can be verified by doing a simple google or TH-cam search. One dead giveaway on the watch in this video is the rounded edges of the Seiko logo. A real Sarb017 has sharp, crisp, logo edges. Think before you speak, next time.
Fake or not, you have a good reason to return it based on the smudge/drop on the dial. But the fact he has so many of them would worry me a lot.
Looks like you're missing the red triangle at 12 on the compass as well....

Yes it is fake and not a factory variation. They are some sellers who have been caught on ebay recently selling them new without tags and box.

mine is from seiya japan and also bought the Seiko original bracelet, I think yours is really a fake
