One if the things I love most about the terreria development is that they don't really seem to push an update just to " get it put on time". As far as I can remember it's really just been that updates are done when they get done....something I really wish other games would do. The updates being amazing is a big bonus too lol.
Honestly, I feel like, even with all the joking about final updates, there isn’t really gonna be a true final update, at least not for a while. It seems like the devs are all still really passionate about the game (that, and we’re reaching a ‘Boy Who Cried Wolf’ situation with the claims of final updates.) Not that I don’t think Re-Logic isn’t going to move on to other projects, but I feel like the game is gonna keep going at least to some degree for a while
I love terraria and where it has gone is amazing for someone to put this much passion into the game instead of trying to sell another game is the greatest thing I've seen game devs do love those guys. Revisiting terraria after 2 years and I gotta say I'm more than impressed with the updates😃
I think the devs have tried to move on and make other games, but they never worked out as well as Terraria did. Remember Pixel Privateers? Remember Terraria Otherworld? Even within Terraria, some things didn't really work out. Remember that Terraria had an animated series?

The game has a little something for everyone, hardcore players can go and farm manually, people that just want a fun time and stress free gameplay can afk farm peacefully, it affects no one and everyone gets a little something.

the things i care about: new summon: mushroom boy new furniture: potion flask, gives some type of buff new pet: "cenaxe", chops down trees new weapons: including a boomerang axe which insta chops multiple trees new mount/transformations: dinosaur, bat, maybe rat fishing: can see fish in the water whilst you're fishing item sorting: chest hoppers which automatically pull items and put them in chests already placed torches automatically changing to their biome respective torch stress ball: enables auto attack when not moving new achievments, sprites, decoration etc minion buff icon shows your minion count
Remember how in Starbound you could craft and find musical instruments? Then you could play classical songs like say Toccata and Fugue in D. And every instrument sounded very unique. You could play Beethoven on an Electric guitar and it sounded cool. People could create thier own songs that could be added to the game by dumping it into a folder. I really want this for Terraria. BAD.
The first time I got 100% achivements was a few years back and decided to step back for a bit. Then more were added with the new update and it took me a while before I wanted to play again but eventually caved in and managed to get the 100% again a couple months back. As much as I love Terraria I can't help but feel a bit of dread having to grind again.
It seems like there's a very real chance that every boss in the game will have it's own music, all that's left is The Destroyer, the Frost Legion, and the Lunatic Cultist. And we can be reasonably certain that Destroyer gets its own theme given that the other mech bosses already have theirs.

A small issue I've always had is that WATERFALL NOISES DON'T REPEAT FULLY!!! When you listen to it, it cuts out at the very end of the loop. It's bothered me so much my last playthrough when I lived next to a waterfall!

i just want all classes to have an end game weapon like the Zenith. you carry a copper sword from first spawn in to craft the thing. maybe other classes can get the same treatment? maybe you slay king slime and get a summoner staff part, or maybe you slay the EOC and you get a cool gun part that you have to carry and get more parts to till moon lord same as summoner. if all classes do not get an end game weapon like the Zenith. then melee class will still be the best class in the whole entire game just based on that end game weapon because it is so insanely OP.

My joy for terrraria came from how many items it had, i played it first when I was really young (maybe 7) and even old terraria felt so magical. I loved being able to build my own house, and despite thinking that the wall of flesh was the final boss and that light sabers were the best weapons at the time it was still so cool getting new random items every time I’d go underground. I even made the holy grenade, and i got exited when I got the Petri dish pet and woopie chushion. I hope they keep putting in new items, because to me, that’s the magic that keeps terraria alive

I wouldn’t mind the re-logic team gave us updates like this every once in a while with lots more game crossovers. I love the direction and the community support from the last few updates.
For yoyos I always wished there was a bit more variety in how they feel to use... I kinda like that it still lets you use other melee stuff quite well so you can totally round yourself out that way, but yoyos are gonna be your main attack on a specialized loadout, and I'm not a huge fan of hovering the mouse directly over enemies myself. Possessed Hatchet, Chlorophyte/homing rockets, tons of homing spells, I can never get enough auto-aim attacks. Yoyos that fly off is a bit ambiguous, if they aim for the enemy or even home in, that'd make the weapon more varied and comfy while still probably making you wanna be dead on on big targets, sounds good. Personally I'd go further by making the yoyos more different from each other so it's exciting to pick up new toys, but I do think it's cool that they're all kinda similar. The Eye of Cthulu could shoot the nearest enemy with piercing lasers, Kraken could spawn tentacles all around it, Yelets could release a stacking lingering spore AoE, Code 1 and Code 2 could share an effect the way Zapinators do, Hel-Fire could cause explosions, Valor could give the player immunity to debuffs while held in hand (Same kinda code to trigger it as water candle held in hand)... the names inspire so much, yet they're mostly just yoyos until you get the Terrarian. Sidenote, I'd probably code Eye of Cthulu targeting to deprioritize targets actually getting hit by the yoyo, while ensuring the laser does hit anything hit by the yoyo. This would make you use other melee a bit less, you'd be able to hold the Kraken on your position to get multiple bats off you etc., but with the right kinda balance we could gain a lot of variety inside the specialization while not losing as much outside it.

I wouldn’t mind the re-logic team gave us updates like this every once in a while with lots more game crossovers. I love the direction and the community support from the last few updates.

For yoyos I always wished there was a bit more variety in how they feel to use... I kinda like that it still lets you use other melee stuff quite well so you can totally round yourself out that way, but yoyos are gonna be your main attack on a specialized loadout, and I'm not a huge fan of hovering the mouse directly over enemies myself. Possessed Hatchet, Chlorophyte/homing rockets, tons of homing spells, I can never get enough auto-aim attacks.
Yoyos that fly off is a bit ambiguous, if they aim for the enemy or even home in, that'd make the weapon more varied and comfy while still probably making you wanna be dead on on big targets, sounds good.
Personally I'd go further by making the yoyos more different from each other so it's exciting to pick up new toys, but I do think it's cool that they're all kinda similar.
The Eye of Cthulu could shoot the nearest enemy with piercing lasers, Kraken could spawn tentacles all around it, Yelets could release a stacking lingering spore AoE, Code 1 and Code 2 could share an effect the way Zapinators do, Hel-Fire could cause explosions, Valor could give the player immunity to debuffs while held in hand (Same kinda code to trigger it as water candle held in hand)... the names inspire so much, yet they're mostly just yoyos until you get the Terrarian.
Sidenote, I'd probably code Eye of Cthulu targeting to deprioritize targets actually getting hit by the yoyo, while ensuring the laser does hit anything hit by the yoyo.
This would make you use other melee a bit less, you'd be able to hold the Kraken on your position to get multiple bats off you etc., but with the right kinda balance we could gain a lot of variety inside the specialization while not losing as much outside it.
