    Great review of this pack! I got the skycrane one with additions, no gun scabbard yet as I got to decide if carrying in a separate one or which gun to take, depending on trip, hunting or just leisure to plink around ..I got the pack for camping, hiking long trips and day trips which then I can use the little brother which also accommodates the scabbard, that said, I like this pack as well and was not decided which one should I get, now I am thinking I may end up getting this one as well! Eberlestock has a pack for every scenario and they are all fully adaptable, so after I play with the skycrane, hopefully will decide. I have tried loading an 80 little Mountaintop pack with 80 pounds and was having some trouble moving around and loading the pack to my back as I am short 5'1 on the heavy side @ 210 pounds, so I figure I need all the help a pack can offer and after reading tons of reviews these seems to fit the bill ... I think the battle one at 100 little would be too much pack for me although it would fit anything you can throw at it!

    • @MASKTactical
      @MASKTactical  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome Stephen! For hunting I would suggest the Gunslinger pack. Same thing but a little less in size pretty much. Its a different layout but for hunting I would use a smaller pack. Unless he goes out and survives for a week while he hunts. This is a great pack don't get me wrong, but the eberlestock gunslinger would be a little more versatile for hunting in my opinion. And its about 200 cheaper!

    Good review, thanks!
    This bag concept is awesome but I came across a few bad reviews. Here they are and what is your take on these?
    A few G4 owners reported a noticeable sway, especially on rough terrain, with loaded pack/no gun in scabbard (around 65 lbs). They say the scabbard empty space, even when tightening all compression straps, is the cause of the sway and the phenomenon was important enough to make them feel uncomfortable on mountain grounds. They also say having a gun in the scabbard, or filling up the scabbard's empty space, minimized the sway but did not totally remove it. Some other G4 owners say they did not encountered this issue and were 100% satisfied on how it handled.
    Did you take the G4 loaded/no gun in scabbard on rough terrain and did you notice a sway?
    Thanks for your input and good job on reviewing products.

    • @MASKTactical
      @MASKTactical  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have field tested this pack and it's also my dedicated long term pack. I've used it both empty and filled. If your waist strap, and chest strap are secured as well as the compression straps used how they should be you shouldn't notice sway when empty. I've got really rough mountains here and it does not bother me a bit. Obviously you should not buy this pack if you don't plan to utilize the space. The people that are complaining about sway are not using the pack for it's intended purpose so for them to complain about a feature while not using the pack appropriately makes their opinion invalid.
      If you are not going to use the scabbard for a rifle, use it for a water bladder, or roll your clothes to and use the space for that. If you are not looking for a pack with a scabbard eberlestock has a similar pack called the terminator thats almost identical without the scabbard. At the end of the day if you are buying a pack with a scabbard and are not using it, you have no idea what you need and you have probably wasted your money. I ruck a lot with this pack and it has no more "Sway" than any other packs, and if it does, it's not enough to bother me. I'm sure you can always buy one and return it if it's not to your liking. I know it's a big investment in a pack but I can promise you it's well worth it, and I make no money from this review or gain anything by telling you any of this. I just fully approve this pack and have a non biased and real opinion about it. So you can take my word when I tell you it's a solid pack.
      So if you are worried about the sway, I would say get a pack that does not have a scabbard. Hope this helps? - Rogue

    • @MASKTactical
      @MASKTactical  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is definitely a beast of a pack to haul, gotta be fit for sure. I'm still currently trying to decide on the next pack but it's likely to be one of the larger options such as the destroyer or battleship. I didn't care for the scabbard. It's nice for storage but not nice for comfort with a heavy loadout.
      Right now I use a smaller overland gamut pack from vertx. A simpler shorter-term pack, but it gets the job done for weekend trips. Once I get my next big pack ill be making it a long term last resort kinda bag, but that will be later this year.
      I am no longer enlisted, I got out back in 2013. I stick to business and family now and train as much as I can.

If you're looking to buy this pack and have a need for carrying a sniper type of loadout then it's a solid option. If you're wanting a long-term bush pack I would opt for one without a scabbard.

    • @MASKTactical
      @MASKTactical  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Simon Srnka Not that i'm aware of. The pack is over 5k ci. You don't want to load this pack down and try to cut weight by removing the frame system. It will only make the load harder to carry, and it will ultimately not help much as the intex frame weighs next to nothing. So my recommendation would be to try to lighten your load by buying more effective gear, or buying a back more designed for lighter weight carry. Hope this helps? - Rogue

    does the top part detaches like a fany pack? what's the difference between this one and the f4 terminator and f4nt?

    • @MASKTactical
      @MASKTactical  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Luis Thillet The top does not detach, if you're looking for one that does just that you'd might wanna check out the Skycrane. (amzn.to/1RSiPBN) It has what you're looking for. As far as the differences in between the other pack go it's just a little bit of configuration differences. Eberlestock's packs are designed mission specific. The g4 here is catered to snipers with the riffle scabbard built into the system unlike most of the others where it's just an optional feature. Hope this helps? - Rogue

    • @eltonurumi4979
      @eltonurumi4979 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Luis Thillet The difference between the Terminator F4 and the Operator G4 is that the extra volume of the G4 is concentrated in the weapon carrier that is build in. However the Terminator F4 has more cargo storage space. Example; The G4 has about 1000-1100 cubic inches concentrated in the weapon carrier volume so the cargo storage is 4700-1100=3600. The Terminator F4 has all 4100 cubic inches concentrated in the cargo storage area so about 400-500 cubic inches more storage in the cargo area than the Operator G4. By the way the Terminator F4 comes with the fanny pack. That does not mean that you cannot carry a weapon with the Terminator F4. To do so you need the external weapons carrier detachable pouch to insert it in the back wall of the bag. What that also means is that the storage cargo area will decrease by potentially 1000 cubic inches down to 3100 cubic inches, so the storage of the weapon will happen internally not externally like the G4 Operator. On the other hand, the Terminator F4NT XL is the Terminator F4 on steroids at 100L capacity or 6100 cubic inches because eberlestock has expanded the side pockets and the internal cargo storage area horizontally not vertically to achieve that larger volume. The F4NT XL also comes with the fanny pack. O yea I almost forgot, go with ebay. I got both bags for almost the price of one. If you buy the G4, make sure it is the 2015 version with the Intex II frame that can also be interchangeably swapped for the thermoplastic alloy frame if you need a bit more flex. The best colors by eberlestock opinions are Dry Earth and Unicam II because they blend in almost any environment and that is how it is described and said by eberlestock when they show demonstrations of the camo patterns on their website. I got the Terminator in Unicam II and the G4 in Dry Earth and they are spot on. Sorry for the long message but I tried to be as detailed as possible. Best of luck bud.
