The UK kept booting you from the faction because you didn't sign the non-aggression pact they offered. Therefore, the AI still saw you as a potential threat.
Unfortunately, this is not true. They purely assess based on the world tension you've generated and if they share a border with you.

Can’t sign NA pact when in faction, that happened bc they had already kicked Portugal out but they were still fighting a war on the same side. The Democratic AI purely judges it based on WT and if they are threatened by/aggressive towards the other nation(other ideologies are same but don’t care abt WT). That calculation does not take into account NA pacts.
For anyone that is curious, the Portuguese word for brother is “irmão”
Turns out the real villain was Churchill.
Paradox really need to fix the kick from faction for AI. Like they should not be able to do it at all during a war unless they do something like claim another faction members territory or something.
Their fix is to change the setting in the pre game menu to "no" kicking from faction

Comparing Brazil to India, as far as how important they were within the empire, Brazil wins handily. When at one point Portugal kinda lost Portugal, the government moved to Brazil. Then the king of Portugal made himself emperor of Brazil and not king of Portugal, and even when he got Portugal back he stayed in Brazil and Portugal was literally a colony of Brazil until they got super pissed about that and rebelled and forced him to come back to Portugal. But still, for a time, Portugal was literally a Brazilian colony. India, while by far the most important part of the British empire, never came close to that level.

played brazil for the achievement recently, Portugal did the monarchy thing and i basically took the entire Portuguese empire as brazil.
Stakuyi brother how can you make Portuguese colonial empire without coring its African colonies? After you do the Luso-Tropicalism you need to go to decisions and there you can integrate (core) Mozambique and Angola, also if you do the other focuses in the right path of the Colonial assimilation policy you will have core rubber, oil and more steel which will greatly improve your economy since you dont have to import the resources that much.
Let's be real: Sacrificing the French is a VERY British thing to do.
I dare you to keep up this playthrough and get Vengeance upon Britain for their crimes!

I don't get why Monarchist sentiment is still counted as non-aligned or fascist all this years of the game. Like GB is still a constitutional "MONARCHY", but if you went backwards policy wise and install someone on the throne it will be fascist. And so GB will be wary of you cause of different ideology causing you to be thrown out of faction like in this campaign. Can't you have monarchic government without cultural discrimination.

When Britain kicked you from the faction, could you have sued for peace with the Germans?
I usually join the bad guys long enough to get away grinding the UK and sniping Vichy. Then I go for Japan and try to take them out before Germany and Soviet Union fight. I let the Germans get deep into Moscow and mollywop the Axis from both ends with Naval invasions. I love to see how other people approach Portugal. It's very versatile.
