What really hit me with this is the fire alarms were used as a decoy to get students out in the open, when i was 15 in sophmore year the high school i went to at the time we had a fire alarm go off for a fire drill, and so we all went outside and then at that moment our school recieved a bomb threat, thankfully nothing happened but we found out later that day was that the person who called the school with the bomb threat was a student and a few of my friends had classed with him and he literally tweeted "haha hey everyone are you glad i got us out of class when i made that bomb threat?" And even at 15 i was thinking- "what kind of dumbass thinks things like that are funny?"

I hope everyone realizes in the comments down there that psychologically speaking, she’s looking around trying to connect broken memories. Memories are never concrete, the brain has to reconstruct what it believes happened and the best way to communicate the memories in a solid fashion. So the pieces that are vague like “walking along” is her brain trying to fill in the gapes to what she DOES remember. So the concrete statements she makes are the fragments of the event that her memory retained long term. Even your memories are fragments of what you do remember and what you don’t about daily occurrences. Quit spouting none sense about actors and fake news. -Psychology Major

We put gps tracking devices on our cars, cellular phones, laptops and some cases our pets to track our location, something lost ,stolen or where were going. Do you think its a good idea putting them on weapons of mass casualties such as the ones used in these recent mass shootings? This technology would warn schools ,our children and authorities when someone is traveling with an assault rifle on property. Is this a better solution then having people surrender their weapons or anything else that society cant agree on? If so please support or raise awareness I'm an inventor not looking for a patent I just wanna raise awareness and spread the solution, so please support thank you and God bless the family's, friends and innocent victims.
Invest N Invent dude. That’s actually pretty genius. Think of other circumstances too.. proving that a person’s specific gun was in the area of the crime, linking them to it... officers knowing if someone is armed when they’re confronting someone... how many lives could this save? How many more people could be brought to justice through this simple tech? And good people who own guns have nothing to worry about, none of their rights to firearms are restricted and they’re still able to do everything they enjoy. Obviously there are some possible drawbacks but the idea is pretty darn cool
It’s really smart but how are we gonna get the tech and the money to implement a fully functioning round the clock tracking device and sensors in each facilities to sense these said track devices
Invest n invent Im sure there is so much more to work out to actually get this thing going. But it is a wonderful idea! I hope this is something that does actually happen. If this invention saves only 1 life ( and I would almost bet it would save 1000s+) it would be worth it

I've got survivors guilt from getting out of the cancer ward and living a normal life when multiple of my friends didn't. Can't even imagine how crazy it must be for these kids when you went through all of that and lost friends along the way..
We just had an attempted school shooting this year on Valentine's in Rio rancho New Mexico and you don't know how scary it is until it happens close to you. I have a current 5th grade and I'm completely horrified for him to go to school. Fortunately no one was hurt but three students were a target of the shooter who is only 17 years old. Parents talk to your children love them let them know they can talk to you hear them out. I hope that we don't ever have to go through this. These kids are forever scarred.
The second amendment states that you have the right to bear arms. When the founding fathers said that over 240 years ago, they were talking about rifles that shoot one bullet at a time and takes a good few minutes to reload. Not semi auto or fully auto weapons. People say we need guns like those to protect themselves, then get a pistol. You can perfectly defend yourself with that! Leave the rifles for the army and SWAT teams not for civilians.
pinksparkles2278 but semi autos are still available for the public and those are considered military weapons, which in my opinion, no one except active members in the military should have
Ben M semi automatic is not a military weapon. a pistol is considered semi automatic. semi automatic is when you pull the trigger and one bullet comes out. automatic is when you pull the trigger and multiple bullets come out, we can’t get those.

The comment clearly states “shouldn’t be able to buy an assault rifle at 18”, not BAN assault riffles. It’s so difficult to have a conversation with someone in this country about guns. Level your damn head people
If you can join the military and die for your country at 18 you are old enough to own a Rifle. Raising the age and banning "Assault weapons" will not stop shootings.

last week on friday we had a threat to our school. i’m in *middle school* an 8th grader had a threat to our school. they found out on thursday. and they still made us come to school!! nothing happened thankfully. but your a strong lady, stay positive
People say that it never happened that it’s just a hoax and that’s not true. It happened and people died in front of people’s eyes and innocent people died. So if you think that it never happened, it did and you need to show some respect for the people who lost someone they loved and cared for.
This happened during my senior year of high school (2018) and for my last 4 months of my senior year I was horrified to go to school. After this happened we had at least 5 shooting threats, none of them went through with it but still, a kid even brought a gun in his backpack but he got caught thank God, but just the thought of it happening scared the shit out of me and my friends. My English teacher tried talking to us about it, trying to tell us the drills will help and we all just were so angry about this happening we told him no, they don’t, the shooter is there learning the drills with us. My generation is fed up with these shootings and we’re tired of Washington and the politicians doing nothing.
It makes me so sad that the ugly and dark sides of life can show up in our worlds for a sliver of time and yet it leaves a shadow over us, forever changed... No I've never lived through a mass shooting before, but I have faced death in my life. It's a surreal experience when your life is in the hands of another person. When you don't have control over it. My heart breaks that these children lost their innocence at such a young age
i think this hit me like a load of bricks, because i have a younger sister named Eden and when i am a senior she will be a freshmen, i cannot imagine what this girl was feeling knowing she couldn’t do anything to help her sister, it’s terrible.
I jus can’t imagine being in this. I’m a freshman this year and I’ve had fears about this. I can’t believe we have to worry about these things. This shouldn’t be happening.
As a mom of 3 girls...1 in HS, 1 in middle school, and 1 in elementary school....this scares me so much. I am afraid for my children & no parent (or student) should feel like that.
I'm a liberal but I support the 2nd amendment. However, I do believe it's a bit ridiculous that people like Cruz can and have purchased guns legally. More extensive background checks and psychiatric evaluations need to be in order!!!
Finally a liberal with a brain. I am conservative, and fully support the second amendment, but i agree that their should be a ton of background checks. I live in Georgia, and we have minimal checks here. That is kinda scary.
@Lester Scruggs How so? They don't check people for mental instability, past criminal record, or even their birth certificate! All they have to do is show to a class, sign their name (or alias), and they get their license!
@Lester Scruggs Method of checking mental stability: other states, such as my native Texas, perform a search that goes way back into your elementary years, for signs of enhanced aggression, uneven temperament, multiple personality disorder, or psychopathic tendencies.
@Lester Scruggs Shit man. I'm am not like the other 99% of people on the internet, and can realize when someone presents a better argument. Thank you sir, for shifting my view. I truly appreciate it.
I didn't go to that school but i remember hearing about it on the news and how he used the fire alarm as a decoy to get people out. it sickened me and i felt so bad for those people. A couple of days later, I had been having an eerie feeling when suddenly a fire alarm went off... I was in my science class. I was so scared and almost never even walked out of that class, afraid that something similar might happen. My school had also been receiving bomb threats so of course I was wary of it. Thankfully, nothing bad happened though but the fact that a possible school shooting was the first thing to pop up in my mind or the fact that everywhere I go, I make sure to scope out all escape routes is just sad. We shouldn't have to go somewhere and think that it could potentially be the last place we ever see...

a few months after this had happened the fire alarm went off at my school during passing period & all the teachers just started rushing kids into classes ): & all the kids were rushing each other to go because everyone knew of parkland. I cant imagine what it feels like to actually go through it
i saw a few comments saying this event was a hoax. this very much so happened. like her, i was there, although a student at westglades at the time. i was in the portables, which were next to the freshman building (although across the field) so my classmates and i heard everything, too. this event was VERY real and VERY traumatizing.

My mom lost her sister due to cancer and I recall her crying like crazy and being depressed and I could never imagine what the pain of losing a sibling feels like.
I don’t get how Americans ban kinder eggs bc kids choke on them but they cannot control there guns. The fact that people make fun of this is so disgusting. Shows how lucky we are to be alive although these shootings are so devastating it really shows how lucky we are to be alive. Imagine how traumatizing this is..
The fact that a school was shot up was not the media’s fault. They gave her a platform to say her side of the story so people can be thankful for their family. If she felt connected to a political movement after what she went through then she does and that’s her choice and she has the right to express that. It doesn’t matter if it was for or against gun control its her way of expressing herself and we need to just support each other in times like this. It’s unfair to call her out for being against guns when you have probably never experienced anything like this. This is her platform not yours and she deserves to have a voice.
My band teacher taught at a school that almost had a shooting I forgot what school there was a girl named Bella he noticed she was acting odd and he stopped her at the end of class and asked what was wrong she said the boys name I forget it she said he has a gun and he was pointing it at me and you the entire time
Oof at the middle school by my high school (my brother is in grade 7) a kid brought a fake gun and showed a bunch of other kids and got arrested and expelled
That’s right young lady, the government does need to get on the ball!! There were many red flags about this kid that many people and agencies knew about, I keep hearing!! All of these warning signs about this kid were ignored!! The next time anyone sees something really strange about somebody, speak up and push the issue until law enforcement investigates the person.
After this shooting happened, someone from my school began posting stuff about them shooting up the school. Many people didn’t go to school the next day but I did. I was sitting in class, and the teachers were talking about the post, and then, the fire alarm went off.... scariest shit to ever happen to me. Everyone in my class just looked around not knowing to get up and leave or stay in the classroom. This is another shooting that made people realize how easy that can happen, to any school. I can’t imagine what these teenagers are going through.
I’m currently in 8th grade and my school was evacuated last week because teachers found what they thought was a loaded gun (it was actually a starter pistol - the thing they use to start track races). Even though we were never in danger, it was really scary. Teachers were screaming and shoving people out of the school and rumors were going around that there wasn’t a bomb or active shooter. It scares me that people need to worry about this and that shootings are a real thing.
One day at my high school, on a rainy day, the fire alarm went off. We weren’t sure why we were having a fire drill on a rainy day because we never had them on rainy days. Isn’t sad that some kids were frightened to go outside because they thought it was supposed to be “Parkland 2.0?” and someone had pulled the fire drill to get everyone outside? The fact that kids don’t feel safe anymore is just so sad.
For everyone saying she's reading a script: she probably is. If i had to go in, i would make a script because thinking of something that horrible and having to say it... i just can't even imagine. She probably has PTSD from that. Think of one of your most traumatic experiences, and just imagine how hard it must be to relive it and think about it as you talk. While a script wont totally help this, you won't start breaking down at the first word.
It shouldn't matter if it was " scripted" or not. She was there. She lived through it. Perhaps she couldn't find the right words or feel confident enough. People think they know exactly what and how survivors should react. They are just ignorant if they can't even imagine living through such a horrific ordeal! That is why the laws are still not right! at least you can have your phones , we can't bring phones to school in my country and its stupid because in case of an emergency we can't contact siblings or family
well see we shouldn't be like "hmm i guess if no one follows laws anyways we don't have to have them." having stricter gun laws would make it not as easy to get guns at such a young age and most likely things like this aren't going to happen. cocaine is illegal but people still use and sell it. laws aren't gonna prevent someone from shooting up a school but it would reduce the risk.
I was really close to the Santa Fe shooting and even though I wasn’t envolved I still can relate to her so much it’s sad that this is where supposedly the best free country has gotten to😔
Nobody thinks that this isn’t horrible. Nobody wants their children to go through anything like this. But literally hundreds of MILLIONS more children throughout History have endured exactly this same horrible death because their parents couldn’t protect themselves from Democide. People will die because of other people with guns, but many, many more people will die because they don’t have guns to protect themselves when they need it most. What about every life that has been saved because of access to a firearm? What about the people who chose to defend themselves and their families who not only can’t protect themselves once firearms are made illegal, but now the government has the right to kill THEM with guns because they have been made into instant “criminals” overnight? This is a debate between free men and the chronically misinformed. Free men own firearms and don’t need to be told, like children, what we may or may not hold in our hands. History has been entirely conclusive on this matter.
Michael Devito It is only in America that a large number of it's population feels the need to carrys guns, most of the people around the world do not carry guns nor do they feel the need to.

Invest n invent

Ben M i totally agree. why should your average citizen have a military grade gun? it’s ridiculous
Yes! 100% agree
fully automatic rifles are already banned from the public. the gun used in this shooting was semi automatic.
pinksparkles2278 but semi autos are still available for the public and those are considered military weapons, which in my opinion, no one except active members in the military should have
Ben M semi automatic is not a military weapon. a pistol is considered semi automatic. semi automatic is when you pull the trigger and one bullet comes out. automatic is when you pull the trigger and multiple bullets come out, we can’t get those.

@Lester Scruggs I agree. God bless you and America.

Oh ok so they don't have to talk about it because hundreds of kids die every day. This is called ignoring something. They're raising the awareness of a big problem in our society, and this thing scares a lot of people. I'm with them.
